Could have had him for 15m in 2013. Who was our manager back then? Oh right Moses

The best thing about having him join the group is he raises the level of technique in the squad considerably, especially in central areas. What's been extremely obvious is we've lacked players who are comfortable with the ball under pressure and have high footballing IQ. Eriksen, Martinez and hopefully de Jong will transform our team in that regard.

The best thing about him at Spurs was he was the main playmaker but in a very economical way, you might not notice he was playing if you didn't pay close attention but he was involved in some way in most goals. In that sense he seems a perfect addition to us with EtH.

I think this is a great signing, its nice to have someone who can actually pass 5 yards.Decent window so far at this rate I might be able to watch us sat on the sofa instead of behind it.

I was so fecking envious when he went to Spurs. The guy was an OG football manager wonderkind. Loved the way he plays, as well.

Imagine the team with Martinez, Eriksen and Frenkie playing. We would be able to sustain possession under any pressure.

There was an era of pestilance and plagues back then followed by a proper exodus of talent. You can write that on stone (tablets)

Pontus Jansson:

"From the first day he arrived, it was with an aura. He was not as a superstar, but as someone who had played with the best teams in the world. I have played with such a player before in the form of Zlatan on the national team," said Jansson.

"They have something special, you can see that when they have the ball for their feet. But Christian is different from Zlatan.

When I played with Zlatan he was the superstar.
"With Zlatan, it was him and ten lousy players on the national team. Christian knows he has good players next to him.

Ah I had a lot on at the time. Couldn't juggle both jobs.
Can you please at least do another job for us, add ‘’undergoing medical and arsenal in the mud’’ in the title of the Martinez thread. This should repay the damage what you did in 2013 for not signing Eriksen.

5 seasons at spurs 237 matches, 52 goals and 71 assists (give or take a few), that’s not 20 goals and assists per season (unless you mean goals and assists combined)
That is a goal contribution ratio of 0.52, or a goal or assist every 2 games. It also equates to 24 goal contributions per season.

Low risk transfer. A great, shrewd signing by us for a change.

Pleased with the this one getting over the line, Eriksen is class and will no doubt help ETH implement the style and changes to our play required for a more free flowing brand of football.

Eriksen was top 5 assists in the league in 3 of his 4,5 seasons at spurs.
Only first and last half he wasnt.

only De bruyne has done more assists in PL since 2013 than Eriksen….
Fact…

he has the 2nd most assists of any player in the past decade..
And btw scored most goals on direct freekick and scored most outside the box… of All players in the league past decade..

so.. i mean can anyone ask for more?

Stats dont always do players justice. Eriksson like David Silva at city, is one if those players who frequently ends up creating the pass before the assist, which is never recorded.

Good signing. Bruno should be worried.

So I see some people go like "he wasn't very good at the end of spurs... "He was bad at corners"

That is bull, and something spurs fans told themselves because he wanted out.

He still created more chances, he still run furthest, in fact he was in their top 5 when the season ended, even though he left in January.
But he was benched and played a lot less than he used to.

I have posted stats about Eriksen before, but it feels like some people haven't really read them.

Eriksen has the stats to support anyone calling him one of the best players in the world..
I am not kidding, he create more chances than any other player, he assists more, he runs further he is a guaranteed double digit assists for United.
How many players are that? What more could you want.

Eriksen has been on top 5 assists more times in the past decade than all united players combined

Try reading these.
  • During his last 4 full seasons at Tottenham Eriksen was in the league top 5 assists every single year, double digit assists every single year, no other player was in top 5 four years in a row.
  • During his time at Tottenham from 2013 to 2020, no other player in the leage scored more goals on direct freekick (8) In fact he is the 10th most scoring on freekick in PL history
  • During his time at Tottenham from 2013 to 2020, no other player in the league scored more goals from outside the box (23)
  • During his time at Tottenham from 2013 to 2020 only Kevin De Bruyne had more assists than Eriksen who had 12 more than Ozil, also Eriksen played less games than Ozil.
  • He has an insane engine and even though he left Tottenham in January 2020, when the season ended, he still had 3 spots on the top 5 most ground covered on the Tottenham team that season.
  • The fact that Eriksen has more than once been the player to run the most in Champions league?, both with Ajax and Tottenham.. Please take that in, twice he has run further than anyone in CL.
  • He was the youngest player in the 2010 worldcup
  • After Eriksen’s first 3 seasons at Tottenham, Eriksen had scored at a higher rate than any other young Premier League midfielder ever except Ronaldo. Eriksen had scored in 32 percent of his appearances for Tottenham. Only Cristiano Ronaldo in his early years, can claim to have scored more regularly than Eriksen. (36%)
  • He just turned 30 and is top 4 on the most capped for the Danish national squad
already ahead of players like Michael Laudrup.
Only 14 matches before reaching first place, which is held by Peter Schmeichel.

I can’t believe people think Bruno is going to be the player displaced when you still have McTominay starting.

Eriksen will play deeper than Bruno.

Very happy. There's a lot of positives in signing Eriksen. The biggest one for me - finally someone who can take a decent set piece. I've forgotten what that's like.

Erksen was phenomenal for Brentford. He is obviously a squad player, but I think he could be one of the seasons big successes at Old Trafford

It's a bit surreal for me honestly. He's the same age as me, and we both have a son around the same age (even with the same name). And my brother is a good friend of his sister. What I'm trying to say is, that I really feel I can relate to him.
When he fell to the ground last year I was shook, and it really set some things in perspective in my own life.

I've followed him all his career, from when Ajax picked him up from my local club. Wanted him badly when Spurs got him, and again when he left them. He's been a fantastic player for our national team. One of the best we've seen, and without doubt the best of a few generations.

He's bought a huge house not long from my mine, in which he plan to live when he retires. Maybe even after a short spell at his old club (his house is like 500m from the training ground).

Can't believe he'll end up playing for both my favorite clubs.

For what?

He owes them feck all although I'm sure he appreciates his time there. They should be grateful he helped them stay up.
Bent was on about how we prized him away and that he owes Brentford.

Then that Natalie sawyer was moaning about him not posting a thanks on social media. Then when he did she replied “it’s something… I suppose”.

All in all so petty and entitled to think a pro who almost died should stay at the first team that gave him a contract. Even when Ajax let him train first anyways :wenger:

To be fair, Brentford only offered him a 6 month deal and it expired. Hardly like we swooped in like the evil empire or something. We put a contract on the table and left him to decide. ETH hardly put a gun to his head.

I‘m sure he’s thankful to Brentford and especially Thomas Frank.

An attacking midfielder who can play in the midfield, a defender who can play in the midfield, a forward line that can play across the attack... Totaal voetbal baby!

Don’t be surprised to see him play LW/RW as a inverted playmaker.

Natalie Sawyer has gone down in my estimation

How do these two fecking idiots don't know that maybe, Christian thanked the people at Brentford in person.

Not everything should be a damn social media post. Normal people still talk, like face to face or on the phone.

This is easily the most idiotic time I've lived in 30 some years.

46 years here and I will say this these times we live in now are just bonkers. Entitled keyboard warriors everywhere.
