You only need to know he has a contract with them. Barca cannot single-sidedly terminate that contract.
Exactly this. Frenkie doing all the right things. Saying he loves the club (which may not even be true by now), and refusing to accept a pay cut. Barca are shafted with his present contract, so the only rational outcome is that they agree to pay the deferred wages if FDJ agrees to be sold.

It's on like donkey kong.

Our job here is done.
We've pulled out a great session today lads, congratulations to all.

Getting past 1000 pages is what Frenkies agent wanted, and we delivered.

He's coming tomorrow.

Xoxo

It's clever play by de Jong really, he wants his money and he's doing all the right things to get it. I think Barca know they're backed into a corner here and that de Jong isn't going to back down. I'm guessing a negotiation will likely be underway soon to see if they can reach a deal that benefits them both

Agreed. His agents have done nothing wrong here - they hold all the cards.

Yeah. For a club that markets itself as mes que un club, Barcelona has always been pretty brutal when getting rid of players. I still remember how the likes of Luiz Ronaldo and Michael Laudrup left Barcelona. When they don't want you anymore they let you know.

However, I guess what I'm trying to understand is what the hold up is.
There is nothing wrong with being cold blooded in getting rid of deadwood. You’d rather be like us and still stuck with the likes of Phil Jones?
However you slice it though, can’t blame FDJ for not taking any further pay cuts and getting his deferred wages back. Barca management has been atrocious to him.

Berbaclass is crazy topping the muppet chart, as well as other 300+ posts posters, or so I thought. Then I looked other at next pages to find myself at 124. Thats 124 posts i will never get back. During my dying days I would look at those hours and think i could have spent them better.

Make this transfer happen so we dont feel like shit!!!

It's been a few hours... has it not? I wonder when news will start to leak out about de Jong leaving the meeting smiling and skipping hand in hand with Xavi
"Xavi has given de Jong a promise ring (lab-grown diamond) in lieu of €17m. Sources close to the club report that de Jong is satisfied."

How is DeJong's golf game? Maybe Barcelona thought the way Real Madrid handled Bale's contract was something to aspire to, so they're willing to give it a try with DeJong. Freeze him out, play him out of his position (if at all) and watch while he gets his paycheck week in, week out, and hits the links.

But Kessie/Gavi are better fits in the system Xavi has implemented. Frenkie's preferred role does not actually exist within the Barcelona team and with Kessie being the shiny new toy and Gavi being part of their future they will get minutes ahead of Frenkie. Xavi has played FDJ as a reserve CB on tour and doubled down on this by essentially saying that is the role he has in mind for him which is a subtle way of letting him know that the only competition he is likely to win if he stays is most minutes spent on the bench versus Donny VDB.
He didnt do this before this whole saga though, even if Frenkie doesnt play in his favoured role, I still think he's ahead of them. Kessie is a transfer free signing, hardly their signing of the summer.

But we'll see, Gavi and Pedri is also very attacking for a 8 and 10, I think Frenkie brings more balance to their midfield than Gavi for now. If he were to stay, I think he'd start. For now he'll be a squad player.

Is the post where I sit.

Quite like it.
It's not at the bottom,
It's not at the top,
But this is the post
Where I always stop.

Not without paying termination fees, which of course Barcelona won't.

Its starting to look more and more obvious that Bernardo Silva won't go to Barcelona. So maybe there actually is a space in the squad for De Jong?

Are we looking at a situation where Barcelona will have to freeze the guy out and force him to consider moving? If so, its hard to see how this is resolved before September. Much as I hope it will be.
What’s holding up the thing now is exactly the termination fee which has to be negotiated and agreed by both parties.
Barca wants to sell him regardless of Silvar transfer. They just want the termination fee as low as possible. Originally it’s about 1/5 of 17m, they now offer 2/5?
If I was FDJ, I probably will not accept anything less than 9/10 in this situation.

Gavi and Pedri are also 18 and 19. At that age players really should be playing 2500-3000 minutes in all comps tops. Barca has also seen what playing Pedri into the ground in 20-21 did to him in 21-22.

Barcelona faces many of the same issues English clubs face - a condensed schedule in which they'll probably play around 55 fixtures, so they'll need a lot of depth. 55 fixtures is about 10000 total midfield minutes for the two 8s in their 4-3-3. If you give Pedri and Gavi together about 5500, that is still about 4500 for FDJ and Kessie to split. And then FDJ might pick up some minutes at the 6 or CB as well. And all that is assuming that none of Pedri, Gavi, or Kessie pick up a significant injury.

Beyond all these calculations, the simple fact Barca seem to want to replace FDJ with Bernardo Silva puts the lie to the notion that there aren't enough midfield minutes to go around. Its not about insufficient minutes at all.

Is this fecker actually any good?
He actually is. Has a few limitations here and there, but technically he is a phenomenal player. It doesn't excuse our club's amateurish tactics this window, but if he costed 100m i'd still say go for it. This guy has the potential to completely change our midfield.

We need a poll option for “it is what it is”, that’s how I feel about this now, we get him great, we don’t, sucks but let’s move one.
