Oh yeah I forgot about that!

Funny how much things change but don’t at the same time. We’ve got ourselves a manager who is signing players he has close ties to just like moyes. Yet we all believe this time around it’s much more positive.
Although I would argue moyes and ETH is different. Moyes had no calibre or history of winning anything. Also, his football was a very different style to what Utd had been playing for many years. He was out of his depth at the time.

Even though it’s a lesser league, ETH has had a successful time at ajax with successful runs in Europe against some of the elite teams. His philosophy of football is more in line with how Utd would want to play. We will have to see how successful it turns out.

I don’t understand the lure of London. It’s a fecking shithole.
That's how Alan Partridge spells it, isn't it?

Yeah always find it laughable when London is sold as some haven for Premier League footballers compared to the wastelands of the Cheshire belt. Like they're not going to spend most of their time either on the training ground, on holiday, darting between restaurants to avoid the public, or driving around in their fancy sports cars.

Yeah they might be a bit more anonymous in a super-city, but they're still not going to be able to live like normal people, and it's only for a short period of their life. Their career should come first.

I do understand wanting to stay in Barca though given the weather, the beaches etc. but again - it's placing lifestyle way above sporting achievements, which more footballers are doing these days. If he was a guaranteed starter at Barca fine but they've basically told him to feck off.

He can only choose London if Chelsea were actually in for him. He can't just rock up to Chelsea with his suitcases and proclaim that he's chosen them can he??
“In West Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool
And all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of clubs who were up to no good
Started making trouble in my beloved club
I got in one little fight and Laporta got scared
He said, "You're movin' with your agent and I don’t care where"

To the tune of Sisqo's "Thong Song"

This thread right here
Is lettin' all the Cules know
What Muppets talk about
You know, the Muppeting things in life
Haha

Check it out
Ooh Barca's so scandalous
And you know Bartomeu couldn't handle it
So you flashing' that money like City Group
And courting the ire of @devilish, uh

You like to spend, all the Chelsea targets
And you release another lever to connect the dots
Not just Mikky, she likes the Barca shops
'Cause she was driving our Frenkie, Loca

She's in the dumps like feck, feck, feck
Manchester rain like what, what, what
Frenkie's a ****, ****, ****

Uh, I think I'll sing it again (c'mon)
She's in the dumps like feck, feck, feck
Manchester rain like what, what, what
It's your fault de Jong

At least we'll see 'ar Chong (c'mon)
Frenkie,
De Jong and Tahith Chong
I like it when his shots go
Over Stretford's Z roooooooooooow
De Jong and Tahith Chong

I actually have a different take on that. I actually think when you’re that rich, you have everything at your fingertips regardless of where you live. I just think the perception is that London is just nicer to live in and a more “it” city which is why these guys prefer it. But in terms of spending their money, they can do that literally anywhere.
You can spend your money anywhere but London is bigger, has more millionaires to cater for, has more of everything, therefore more choice at your fingertips in terms of restaurants, nightlife, theatres etc......Personally I think it is wart on the arsehole of the UK but I can see why a young millionaire would choose it over Manchester.

That said, he is coming to Utd anyway so nothing to worry about. Privately, ETC and those working at UTD know what is going on.

"The impression is..." complete weasel journalism, means absolutely nothing. Impression from who? Could literally just mean it's the journalist's general reading of the situation based on the outside factors.

All I can find is this one:

"His preference is to stay at Barcelona and collect every cent of the money he is being pressured to forgo.

But if De Jong were to be persuaded to leave Camp Nou in this window, the impression is that Champions League football makes Chelsea a more desirable destination than United."

Which is clearly conjecture and certainly doesn't warrant that thread title.
The thread title is a work of art representing the negative viewpoint of today society. Seen through their eyes it brings life to a dried river bed

That's exactly what it means though. It just makes sense to favour a club with CL footy, hence the impression.

I reckon Boehly is in Barcelona today. According to Romero there is some representatives in Barca but not sure who it is yet.

If he was there, i'm pretty damn sure we'd know about it. We did last time, he made a bit of a show about it didn't he?

I was born and raised in London, the moment I had my first child, I was out of there! It is a shithole, it can be beautiful, but on the whole it is a shithole, a very expensive shithole.

However as somebody who spends a lot of time in Manchester, it is also grim!
Where do you like if London and Manchester aren't up to scratch?

Becoming ever clearer that aside from this deal our transfer business is done. Feel that we’d like Sesko but it’s probably dependent on raising funds from sales.

It’s a disgrace considering how lacking in depth we are in midfield and attack. Absolutely need this deal to get done or we are in deep trouble this season.

Could also say it might be our representation, as there was reports that we'd go to make another try to get it sorted and done

I live in the centre of Manchester and the cost of everything bar rent, is basically on par with London.

Most flats in the centre are at least £1000 a month too so still expensive. Not to mention salaries in London are significantly higher.

Who cares. There are nearly 50k posts in this thread about a bloke who might or might not change jobs this summer. There hasn't been an update of any significance for more than 800 pages. I think it's fair for a few people to take the piss a bit with the thread title changes if they want to, given that this thread is 99% drivel anyway (much of which I have happily added to!)
It's not a big deal but I'm probably not the only one who uses these threads as a sort of news aggregator.

Do you have this muppet culture over there? Actual level headiness might explain that

Looks like he very much doesn't want to leave and there's no way Barcelona can either withhold his money contractually owed or force him to.

All they could do is let him rot at the B team or similar, which would only achieve him being worth much less when he does eventually go! The last thing they want.

London might seem like a shithole to the average Joe but if you’re a famous, multimillionaire footballer with a wife it’s probably a glamorous paradise. The best of everything at your fingertips.
This. He will never have to worry about the every day life of London. His wife will love it, to invite friends over, go to the most expensive restaurants, party with celebrities.
