Take the bet. He'll play plenty, and the amount of cutbacks in the opposition's box we're doing now will make it easy pickings for him.

(I hope!)
He'll easily pass 10 IMO. Last year was a freak year, he'll be more like the previous 3 years (9r even have his best season yet in finally a system like Ten Hag's).
I've taken the bet. £20. Just a bit of fun!! :)

My mate wants a bet that rashford won't score 10 league goals this season. What do we think? If he plays, I think he will. But will he be first choice if we sign another attacker?
If he starts 25 games he'll score at least 10 goals. All dependent on staying injury free really but he looks like he's got his game face on and he's definitely our starting left forward.

He was doing well in the first half but he's very poor as a centre-forward.

Rashford regressed under Ole. He is an example of what bad coaching can do to your progress in early years.

In preseason I saw glimps of very different Rashford. Still has those bad habits occassionally but otherwise showed much composed and direct performance. In one month ETH can change him this much then I have far more expectations from him in this season. He could be the key player.

Rashford actually had his best goal return in the Premier League under Ole. No doubt, 19/20 was his best season to date. Injuries didn't help and thereafter, he was really poor.

That being said, as you mentioned, we have seen glimpses and hopefully he can build on a good pre season.

We still need another winger who will challenge both he and Sancho, but I look forward to see how he gets on this season.

Rubbish, Rashford's goal involvement was the highest it's ever been in the 2 seasons under Ole

Rashford always had these bad habits of overdoing dribbling in crowded space, bad decision making while passing, keeping the ball instead of passing, over relying on his pace rather than technique. But he was very young and these things are overlooked. What matters is how your coach weed out those and make you a better player.

Is 24 year old rashford is leaps and bound better than when he was 19? I honestly don't think so. It is not his fault that he had to play under jose who didn't rate him and then Ole who didn't coach him. In fact under Ole he was given so much freedom that he just drifted away.

I hope ETH can bring best out of him.

We are screwed if we are going to have to play him through the middle. He's awful as a striker and not much better as a winger.

I really hope we go with a false 9 on Sunday if Martial is injured and Ronaldo is not fit to play up front.

It‘s a good point that Rashford needs a player to open or create space for him. Which is why Ronaldo wouldn’t been ideal partner for him. If we use the same point as the article, whether Rashford plays on the wing or as striker don’t matter as long as there is someone who can open or create space for him.
Yup I totally agree with this article which was why I was pushing for a couple of different ideas since Martial dropped off.

I will say though that Rashford's problems aren't just with the system, his touch, close control under pressure etc were pretty crap when he was our of form. If a ball is pinged to his feet you have no idea if he's going to control it or if he'll let the ball bounce off him ala Lukaku.

First idea is a 4-3-3 with Bruno at false 9 with Greenwood / Rashford as inside forwards. This also would've let us play Pogba in his preferred position. We played this a couple of times under Ole and did well but we never really committed and I dunno why

The next was a Tuchel style 343 with Rashford in the Werner role. This would've covered for Lindelof's passiveness by putting him in the T. Silva role with more aggressive defenders next to him. We could've played Shaw as the LCB (hey a left footed LCB!), Lindelof and Maguire.

Ultimately our shambolic recruitment means many square pegs in round holes type situations all over the pitch. I think there's realisation now at the club that you can't just stockpile good players and expect them to do well.

Now we have Ten Hag who sees football in a different way to our previous managers. Good players will suffer (Lindelof, Varane because they aren't aggressive CBs, maybe even Bruno because he blows hot and cold) and people will keep complaining.

He is dropping a 2/10 performance today for sure. We should move on from him next summer, even if we don’t manage to get someone like Antony.

He's more likely to score 2 goals than rate 2/10 tomorrow. New season, new manager, and the need to perform for the World Cup, and he's fit after a proper off-season.

If he doesn’t have a good season, then it should be his last one at the club. He looks finished

Same old self, a real shame that our one big chance fell to him as you never backed him to put it away. Useless.

Remember first 6 months of 2019/20 Rashford? Good times.

He has been terrible for 2 years now. No doubt a bumper new contract is on the way.

Lots of effort and a big improvement on his workrate. But just lacked quality.

No longer a top level player. He drops his shoulder and gets depressed when things don't go his way. His miss was criminal.

I actually thought he was one of the brightest one out there. He actually came to a couple of chances. Yes, should 've scored, but still better than the rest up front

Definitely playing for that new contract. Worrying thing is most of the team played the exact same way genuine 3/10 performance from him.

The sooner Ten Hag realizes that he will never win anything with Bruno and Rashford on this team the better, I have really had it with everytime I see Rashford jump, he always somehow avoids heading the ball, this is something he has done his whole career, whats the point jumping. if he does not want to head the ball why not just make it difficult for the opponent to head it instead of just jumping with no intention of heading it

Yep, the fact he missed chances will see him get far more abuse than players who just didn't do anything

Only saw the second half but thought he was decent. Should have scored but the keeper made an outstanding save. Fitness looked ok and got into dangerous positions. The goals will come if he keeps playing like that.

Just like Bruno seems to have gone from a 8-9/10 player to a 4/10

Both absolutely useless.

Two bad misses from a few yards out. At least he's trying, let down by a pathetic Shaw today.
