Yes pretty much.
If this actually happens, which I believe it will, I hope all the turds nailing ETH and Murtough to the cross will be big enough to admit our team will have played an almost perfect hand. Persistent. Determined and discreet. A big step forward.
With FDJ? Yeah I guess so. That doesn't excuse the rest of the window, though.

United have been put through the shit since Chelsea were falsely reported that they could stroll in and sign De Jong. Not shopping in Harrods anymore and all that shit.
Do you think all that would be revised if we do sign him? Of course not
Signing him alone then no, if we sign him Rabiot (who I don't rate), and Morata then the club will come out looking overall like its had a good window.

Its the length of time that we have persued FDJ, to not get him will look like poor planning and rightly so. Quite frankly its De Jong or open field on criticism for the season, as they've set the wrong tone.

Boehly, Boehly, Boehly, Boehly
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Boehly, Boehly, Boehly, Boehly
Please don't take him just because you can

Your midfield is beyond compare
Even though Ross Barkley is still there
And what’s the fecking story with Batshuayi?
Seeing Frenkie at Chewsea will sting
How much longer can he string
Us along only to sign for you
Boehly

We’ll buy Ziyech on the cheap
And there's nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he’s compared to McTominay
Boehly

And I don’t really understand
How you still own Baba Rahman
He hasn’t kicked a ball since 2015
Boehly,

Boehly, Boehly Boehly, Boehly,
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Boehly, Boehly, Boehly, Boehly
I called first dibs back in Amsterdam

You could have your choice of men
But we’ve been turned down by most of them
Its him or Danny Drinkwater on a free
Boehly

I had to have this talk with you
Our Champions League depends on you
And whatever you decide to do
Boehly

Boehly, Boehly, Boehly, Boehly
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Boehly, Boehly, Boehly, Boehly,
Seriously, what the shit is going on with Rahman?
Boehly, Boehly
Absolut brilliant! If we can get United not to sign Arnautović, we can do the same with Boehly with this masterpiece!

It is quite telling that Barca's 2022 updated reliability list does not have Tier 1 sources. Everyone is T2 or below.

Sport have been publishing so much shite every day that they are bound to be correct once.

I don't know their wages obviously, and Umtiti was indeed always portrait on ridiculous wages, but the story around Auba's signing was that he even took a wage cut to join Barcelona from Arsenal (on a free!). This could of course all have been spin, and all three combined will surely make room for new signings, but Silva for example won't exactly play for free
The story about Auba is that he was on pitiful wages the first six months (since they had all those restrictions), but that they would rise dramatically afterwards.
That was mostly reported by non-pro-Barca sources, but the typical Barcelona media did concede that the salary went up.

Do we think (a) he's agreed to give up the owed wages, (b) Barca have agreed to pay him or (c) Man United are paying the the owed wages?

I reckon in terms of likelyhood A, then C then (a long way behind) B.
I think the tax authorities might have something to say about that. No way is another club going to compensate for deferred wages.

I dunno MS, maybe we judge it all at the close? I have a feeling we’re working differently these days.

What specifically has grated you so much chap?
Well, for one, we let Ronaldo throw a strop all summer and then tried to sign a 33 year old mid table racist.

Anyone who genuinely believes Boehly/Eghbali havent had talks with Barca and FDJ's reps, is extremely naive.

The price is probably agreed verbally, but not being made formal until, as you say, he shows a willingness to go. [which is what majority of outlets are saying] Utd agreed a deal 12 weeks ago roughly; and haven't got anywhere with it since, really. So for us to formally bid now, is futile. We'll be in the exact same boat.

I think it was Mundo who reported last night FDJ's agent has now left Barca, and until FDJ decides to leave, there will be no meetings. So if true, it really does look like he is staying
From what’s being reported this morning this seems a long way off what’s actually happened and is happening tbh..

Wouldn't it be better for Spain not to have a Spanish company paying his wages? Higher profits means more taxes.

What could we have realistically done regarding Ronaldo? The guys a mercenary and narcissistic cnut. I can’t deny getting a bit Dewey eyed when he made that stadium entrance on his second debut but I never wanted him back. That ship had clearly alteadysailed.

And Arnautovic? What’s the point in holding onto that? We didn’t sign him. Someone obviously didn’t do their due diligence but it was all over almost before it even got started. We don’t know and probably never will know the real truth behind it all. The important thing is we didn’t.

Onwards and (hopefully) upwards dude.

Brief summary of the day so far and it’s clear that the narrative is shifting somewhat.

What I will say is Van der Kraan is highly regarded and has been clear that United have agreements with player, agent and that De Jong is happy to move to United (obviously there’s issues in play with him and Barca).

He’s been consistent throughout this and given his links to Dutch football it’s highly likely he will have the best sources for both Ten Hag, De Jong and his agents.

I’m not saying United will definitely get him but I definitely think this is far more positive compared to the Chelsea reports last week.

Especially when you consider they still have not bid nor have they made any contact with the players agent.

There were reports they did get into contact and were told to do one

I think so although not sure on the reliability.

Essentially though they have received no indication the player will move to them and as such haven’t made a bid.

This would tie to much earlier reports that the player has no interest in Chelsea and they were simply monitoring incase a move to United failed to happen.

If we can pull this off, a midfield of De Jong and Rabiot is a seriously press resistant partnership. It’s going to be a mammoth difference from McFred are the complete opposite of press resistant.

I do think with FDJ and Rabiot we would see a major improvement in the defence as they won’t get exposed by mistakes created in our midfield.
Would just need someone to connect with Jadon on that right hand side, also ST with physical presence and build up play ability
