Yeah there will be many of these stories in next couple of weeks, however only a couple will have any legs to them.
You'd have to assume the club would at least be comeptent enough to check that the player does indeed have legs.

This is a prime example of what we do wrong compared to other serious clubs. You either pay the release clause and get it done instantly or you don’t even go near it. You don’t try and negotiate it’s never going to happen.

It seems already abandoned, after Arnautovic, Tamudo, Morata, Vardy, Icardi and other 7500 names, it’s the Dembele turn

This signing only makes sense if Ronaldo stays, surely. It's all well and good signing a facilitator that presses well, creates, but who's he creating space and opportunities for? A load of blokes that don't score many goals.
The hope is Sancho/Rashford will get a lot more ball in good areas I guess. If Bruno sorts his form out/gets dropped for Eriksen and we have a mobile/pressing striker up front it will help us no end.

Ajax & United, in that order
No one we sign this week will feature against Liverpool. These guys needs visas sorted and as we've seen it takes a few days for that.
You seriously would start a brand new signing a few days after they have signed against Liverpool?

Good grief :houllier:
Administrative issues aside Ten Hag has a fair number of principles and one of them is that if a player hasn't participated in the last training session before a match (which is match specific) he won't be in the starting line-up.

Never mind if they're players that need to get used to the system. Already got plenty of those ...

We’re still a massive club that most players in the world would join in a heartbeat.
there are prob 7-8 clubs plus now more attractive I’d say if we offered them the same money. 3-4 in the PL and the others across Europe. Made even worse by the fact we can’t offer the same money as we have much smaller clubs with much richer owners willing to spend more then us now each summer. Wolves Can throw big money for a player, I think West Ham and arsenal may have outspent us…then we can’t even box clever…I’m becoming pretty worried about where we will be as a club in 5/10 years time. My assumption of us getting back could well be massively in my head.

Sure it goes up, but not by much. Because if you offer 10% above market value they will not ask you for 50% above market value, because they know you can leave and go get your next choice (and they will lose that 10%). If you work on it months ahead, you can do that. If it is just one week before the deadline, you can't do that.
This naive.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
He's the first attacking link I've actually thought 'yeah, could see that being a good signing', regardless of his goalscoring. Admittedly this is based on the stats etc posted which show he's a hard worker but also fast and has good ability on the ball. I was always a big fan of Firmino at Hoffenheim, and could have seen this being a similar signing. I would hope we have something better lined up if we pass on this, as opposed to another Arnautovic/Kalajdzic.

Personally I think Gakpo looks like the other side of the coin. Scores goals but not physically great or technically very strong. I'd prefer Cunha (based on the little I know). I just can't see Gakpo translating well, unless he becomes a CF.

Tbf, if Atletico are demanding more than 50 million EUR we should just leave him alone.

This is exactly why we should've concluded our business months ago. This club is run by fecking idiots, and tbf we deserve to end up like Portsmouth, Blackburn etc.

Early in the window would have made no difference whatsoever

He signed with them a year ago & has 4 years left on his contract.

€50M is reasonable - maybe slightly too expensive but reasonable for the length of contract

Maybe the timing does not make that much of a difference in regards to exactly this transfer. But you don't think every single club are demanding an extra premium given the timing (not much time to find replacements) and our desperation coming off two embarrassing losses?

No it isn't. They signed him for half of that last year. He's done nothing to justify doubling his price.

We demand £120M for Rashford despite only having a year left. Probably double what I’d expect he’s worth.

This is the exact shit that happened last monday after the Brighton loss..

We made a bid for Aurnautovic, Rabiot bid accepted.. Gakpo incoming, that DM from Betis imminently signing..
Just PR to deflect from the shambolic performance..

now its Cunha, Vardy , RDT .. Ronaldo news..

I don't buy any of it.. of course we will sign some players before the window shuts.. but these reports streaming in after a loss are just bs.
