Personally I think he shouldn't be sent on loan and fight with Elanga for the backup spot. He has all the right ingredients to be a top player but needs coaching on a few key aspects of his game which I think Ten Hag will be great for.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Defensive stats probably none too shabby as well. Pressed like a maniac.
Think he needs to be cut a bit of slack for his previous performances. He’s really bulked up and has clearly worked very hard this off-season physically - only natural the rest of his game will take some adjusting to that. Today was the first time I’ve watched him where he didn’t look like a boy playing with adults. Really good intensity that lasted the full 45 minutes.

He's extremely talented that's for sure. His class on the ball cannot be in question. It's just when he's in physical contact, or when he has to get away from someone there's an issue. That's a pretty big part of modern attacking play. I'm concerned he's not going to get enough football here to develop his decision making as well. It feels like quite a sensitive period in his development over the next season.

Gotta take sides. Football is tribal
Agreed, but isn't the point of a tribe that it's a unified group? Football is tribal, but I think the tribes are usually considered to be teams as opposed to players, no?! Messi and Ronaldo excluded, obvs.

Really can't understand why it's impossible for some to praise certain players without comparing them to others.
Because they are in competition with each other as the back-up right option behind Sancho.

A decent loan - going and getting 40 odd starts somewhere I think would do him a lot of good and hopefully give us a bit more of an idea.
Agree with this, needs a proper loan where he plays week in and week out. Very decent outing.

Probably not. Garnacho and Amad have potential, but at this stage you want them understudying players at the top of their game. Too many question marks about Rashford, Martial and Ronaldo for one reason or another. We'll be fortunate if two of them have good seasons. I expect one of them to have a good season, and wouldn't be surprised if all three underdeliver.
Signs are good for all 3 starters so far. Hopefully we get 2020 Martial and Rashford, then the young lads can be perfect as backups and cup players.

I'm being super optimistic :)

I do wonder what his best position will ultimately be. Seems to lack the pace and explosiveness you expect of modern wide forwards, and probably lacks the raw physicality to flourish more centrally. Interesting talent though.
A playmaking right forward. A young and very very unproven David Silva;)

We can hope!

To be fair I'd love Martial to hit his old form mostly so we get to hear his chant being belted out loudly and frequently. It was a classic anyway and would have extra meaning if he silences his critics a second time!

I'm not seeing what Elanga offers that Amad does not. Elanga might be a more willing runner, more willing to chase lost causes, but he doesn't have the level of ball control Amad has. It will be very interesting to see who ETH decides to keep around and who he sends on loan. Right now I'd give Amad a shot over Elanga.

Yeah that does seem to be a potential role for him, but he’ll need to show he retain possession under pressure a lot better.

He’s miles better than Elanga IMO. Should get a chance with Garnacho to be deputies. We probably still need a “forward” who can play across multiple positions like Antony or Sesko but Amad’s composure can be a helpful asset to us - he just needs minutes and a bit of trust and I think the player we saw in the U21s will be there, like it was today

Totally agree he should stay by virtue of left footed and he’s miles better than Elanga who is vastly overrated

I feel he's never been given the chance to play himself into decent form. He gets very harsh criticism from fans but he's always been quite productive with the limited minutes he gets even if he still drifts in and out of games (which is perfectly normal for a teenager).

He's just had a very stop start career at the club so far. Scores a goal and then we don't see him for another 20 games.

I've yet to hear anyone on here who rates Elanga. If anything he must be under-rated given peoples' opinions. Think he'll end up having a good career. He has very good physical gifts and makes intelligent runs. Clearly needs to work on other elements of his game but that can come with age and experience.

He was very good today after being poor in the last couple of games. It's understandable that he's quite inconsistent but I have faith that he'll come good, top talent.

I've heard this often over the years. And when we send someone somewhere and they don't play it is dubbed an idiotic loan. But it will be the players responsibility to get into the team, assuming the location is sensible and not Real Madrid or someone who is struggling very badly.

No I agree we are notoriously bad finding our players good loans, but he needs one badly. He is but ready for Utd but he might do well in the Netherlands or Germany, he has tried playing in a physical league it wasn't great. But he has talent he just needs game time.

In terms of pure ability he’s just ridiculously good. I’d go as far as to say his 45 minutes yesterday was better than Garnacho’s and his was good. I’m with others who don’t see what Elanga brings. Amad looks a special talent to me as does Garnacho.

Kid has as all the physical attributes But Antony Elanga is not the most technical gifted player, think he will struggle with ETH complexed instructions

Every time I watch him play, he looks like he could make something happen. That’s a rare quality for a young player. I think he just needs to bring up his tactical play and awareness. I definitely see him as someone who can become a starting 11 player for us with the right development. Agree that he impresses more than Elanga.

Yeap. Ganarcho's performance was about individual brilliance Fc. Gets bums off their seat.

Amad needs to be further coached and learn how to play within a team structure. (We all can see the talent that is in him.) But he has progressed a little in that aspect since going up to Scotland. In some ways, Amad is ahead of Garnacho in that aspect.

No not at all just needs a loan to learn more that’s my point he should never be our first attacking substitute in game where 5 subs can be made having said that ETH didn’t give him or Ganaucho a chance today!

The kid is 20, not 16 or 17. You should be making minutes at 20 years old, at least as a sub. Why is he not getting it?

A 37m signing that's been given virtually no minutes in PL action, although Amad did score that lovely backheader goal v Milan.

Why do we sign players for big transfer fee and then not play them???

Nice could actually be a pretty good move for him to showcase his talent if it materialises. He needs minutes, but still a little part of me is disappointed he won't be getting them here with us this season. Our wide options aren't the best and he's a fun player to watch.

Hopefully does well at Nice. I think he's a talented player but unless this loan works out we should probably be looking to cash in.

We should send him to Holland to learn the Ajax way, then bring him back into the team afterwards. Or maybe send him to Germany on loan because that seems to be the best stepping stone before coming out to the EPL..

We really need to do something about Amad because we don't want another wasted talent to our club name. Often we've not given young lads the chance to play competitive football after outgrowing the development leagues leading to wasted years for them. I really hope its an issue this first team coach of ours sorts out and gives them a platform to showcase their individual games.
