The biggest mystery is how this has become a thing.

Nunez doesn't belong in the same conversation, never mind a face-off.
I don't think Haaland's that bad despite not noticing he was even playing today.

I think people have forgotten how good Origi was for Klopp - Nunez may not be the most technical but he is better than origi.

This should be a major wake up call to the board , Historically we would have ended up with one if these 2 players , Now we have to watch them destroy the league for many years to come .

Haaland didn’t even look bothered today. Hope he turns up like that every week. I actually think city will be easier to play against with him in there team. Doesn’t help them defend from the front.

To me it looked like Halaand was making runs and finding space and none of his team were looking to find him. You had wingers cutting in and shooting rather than cutting it back for him.

Nunez is getting so much flack from United fans. Scoring 4 goals in one game and getting a goal to win the Community Shield really isn’t a bad start to his Liverpool career. I’d take that over our striker situation.

Yeah they need some time to gel. Nunez looked better because Pool were playing counter attack by the time he came on and the situation was really set up for his pace / power.

Curious to see how he fares against a set defence with somewhat poor link up.

Everybody knew he would make lots of runs forward. That’s what he does. They weren’t very well timed, though. Seemed to always be offside by the time anyone had a chance to play a pass.

But that’s not the main issue. His all round contribution was horrible. Considering how much City like to keep hold of the ball it was incredible how few touches he had. And his pressing was non-existent. So slow and clumsy. As well as keeping hold of the ball City like to score goals by winning the ball high up the pitch. If Haaland makes their press dysfunctional (and an effective press needs to be coordinated) then City are a lesser team with him up front than they are without him.

Nunez was diving into tackles and throwing himself around as if he was trying too hard to prove himself. If he carries on this way he will get himself badly injured and be out for a long time, imo.
Both are very good forwards and will score lots of goals for their teams. Alvarez looks good also.

Was no different when Aguero was there. He wasn't involved that much despite the amount of possession City had and he also had runs ignored. It's part of being in a Guardiola system but they will still create enough chances for it to be a non-factor.

I think by now Pep has earned enough credit in his ability to always find a way. There's been so many times people have questioned whether his methods will work and each time he's proven right. Pep is the best coach there is so I don't doubt his ability in finding a system that works for Haaland and City. It might take a couple of months but Haaland will be ace, he's too good a goal scorer to fail.

Haaland easily, Nunez can be as good as Origi or Jota in that system, and pretty quickly so, but Haaland will be a top 5 Striker for a long time.

None are good enough because we didn't go for them. They will be playing in Turkey or Norway in a few years. In the meantime our main striker Martial will be winning BD'or.

Nuñez will make the bigger contribution, particularly assisting Salah penalties through inadvertent handballs by defenders blocking shots that are going absolutely nowhere, just like Dias.

This thread is embarrassing.

I get it we're rivals. But calling Halaand overrated? I'm old enough to laugh at RAWK for this kind of shenagigans.

Pennant>Ronaldo for those old enough to remember.

Haaland will do well. Pep has played with guys like Lewa successfully already - it's still not automatic / natural for them yet and it'll come as time passes.
Who has absolutely nothing in common with Haaland except both being "strikers"........

They're both out and out #9s rather than your typical Pep style creative mids.

Lewa has better link up but not to the point that he rotates all over the pitch and starts creating for others like a Foden or KdB would when they start at #9

Similar accomodations are necessary to fit either player into your attack.

Haaland any day. He's lethal, he had a poor game Saturday but he still got in the right positions and will score two or three on another day. He's got a natural movement and anticipation about him. The only question mark is how well he will fit in City's system.

Nunez looks cumbersome and like he doesn't know how to set himself up to finish. His header for the penalty was comical and he looked like he slightly scuffed the goal.

One is a generational talent, one is just a good striker.

Halaand and Lewa are not similar at all. Lewas is more akin to Aguero whos all round game and link up is top level.

Also Pep has played with plenty of no 9s

Is he immune to being overrated? It just mean he isn't as incredible as he's made out to be. Not that he's not a very good CF.

Both needs adaptation to their manager tactics. I think both will perform well with their managers in this season.

Right now, Haaland is a better striker for sure but I hope Darwin steps up his game to another level( the reason: for my lovely team ).

I wouldn't be making any big statements against the pair of them. Will probably come back to haunt us. They're both likely to be very good assets for their teams. There's no way Haaland isn't scoring absolutely bucket loads of goals, even if he causes some debate about his contribution. If they feed him he's going to score, it's that simple. Might just take some adjustment to their directness.

The comparison won't last long. They're not even close. Once Haaland gels into the system, he will do what Haaland does. As sure banker for loads of goals as you'll ever get.

One looks like a girl, the other like a giant baby. I'd say it's a tie.

Think Nunez is a far better fit for his new team. Pool have a feckload of pace up front and even more with him which suits them perfectly. City have a physically imposing, technically so-so target man up front, which doesnt suit them at all. They played awkwarldy this last game even going for shitty crosses, which I've never seen City do with Pep.

This thread should have at the Scousers' forum, don't know how it is here. I am amazed at how this is even a conversation. Haaland is a generational talent who missed a few sitters in nothing friendly matches; very few had even heard of Nunez before being linked to Liverpool.

Oh I rate Nunez from what I have seen but this seems to be a bit of an unfair comparison to him no?

Haaland should go on to be the best striker on the planet once Lewandowski slows down if nothing unexpected happens.
