Where is the official announcement? He doesn’t need a visa, why the delay?

Has this guy signed or what?

We are honestly the worst club when it comes to announcing transfers/getting them over the line.

A 33 past his best keeper from Newcastle with zero competition and it still takes forever.

Good backup to de gea though.
I bet you are also the guy that comments "first!" on youtube videos.

Definitely on another level to de Gea in terms of composure on the ball and making those short passes. That’s exciting…

I am quite thrilled about this signing. Very cheap and he is very good at the things De Gea is bad at.

Hope he gets a run at some point. I’d love to see how we look not being a man short when we’re in possession in our own half.

is he good with the ball though, I seem to recall he's a very good shot stopper but not great with the ball.

33 is still young for a keeper.

If he gets a shot. He will replace DDG this season.

Rafa originally purchased him for his ability to sweep and in the buildup.
He must be or we wouldn't have let Hendo go, as I say, my experience of seeing him is very limited, about 3 games. Like we are doing though, Rafa signed him on loan first before committing to the buy.

Have a suspicion he'll be our number one sooner rather than later. Has the attributes EtH wants in a keeper.

Great bit of business by the club when you consider the appearance clause is only applicable to PL games. Would imagine we'll see Dubravka against Sociedad next Thursday

Strange signing, but could be a good one if ETH has the courage to actually play him. The whole issue with De Gea is that he's so high profile and so well paid that it's almost become impossible to drop him, it's a total circus every time there's so much as a debate over whether he should play. Based on ability there are tonnes of keepers in Europe and its very hard to make the argument that De Gea should be first choice at United based on merit alone. And yet somehow a combination of his contract situation and his reputation as a shot stopper manages to keep him in that role.

If our GK were just some random we bought 2 years ago who was pushing the exact same stats De Gea was, we would totally bring in someone like Dubravka to replace them. Not because Dubravka is s-tier keeper, just because they're better than what we have. And yet I just can't imagine that Newcastle's second choice keeper will be given a chance ahead of him.

I get the feeling that we're going to end up with a better keeper on the bench all season. However ETH has already shown himself to be pretty ruthless with Maguire, Shaw and Ronaldo, so maybe he'll be the one to finally do what Ole never could and just bench the De Gea and go with the other guy, even if its just til next summer when we can get a long term alternative.

He is capable to replace De Gea immediately. He didn’t want to be number 2 in Newcastle as he feels betrayed. He has been their best player for three years and he single-handedly saved their ass in Premier league twice. They brought Pope and without getting a chance he was benched. He is very good goalkeeper (not best 10) and for that price it’s a bargain signing of the year.
I think that hes been brought in to replace de gea. Isnt de geas contract up end of the season? Are Utd going to give him a new one by paying him even more than the 375k a week hes on now? Would they offer him another contract for a lot less and would he accept it?
For me the next bad game and de gea will be dropped.

I'm slightly confused as to why Newcastle even wanted to replace him,, I always thought he was pretty highly-rated as a shot stopper and assumed it was because they wanted a more modern style GK. But it turns out he's fairly decent with the ball at his feet and they replaced him with Nick Pope who isn't.

If ETH has conviction then he should get a chance to start fairly soon and he might have a bigger impact on United's style of play/form than realised. Other than the fact DDG can't pass or come off his line, it can't be great for your composure as a CB when you know your GK is prone to giving cheap goals away.
