Saw that before the spoiler, thanks a lot Damo
Sorry! You should have prioritised it back in May when you mentioned it.

Honestly though, when you do go round to playing it, it isn't something that is a grand surprise/major twist. Please play it soon though - it's a good game.

Yep first one. First rodeo, as they say.
Lucky! I only started the whole series 2 years ago. Always thought they were silly games growing up, boy was I wrong. Glad I started after Zero came out. It gives Yakuza 1 story way more weight to it. I played 0,1,2 and 6. Before the other 3 came out. Wasn't lost at all. I wished I skipped 5 though. Zero is definitely the best one. Yakuza Like a dragon was as brilliant.

I'm terrible for looking at other games while having enough to play to last years.

Saw a review for desperados 3 from ACG, looked interesting. £44.99 on steam (2 years old). I can get it from Cdkeys for a fiver or even less elsewhere.

While I'd want to support the developers and I expect resellers to be cheaper than the main store.. it's just insane there is such a price disparity.

Also the physical console version is a tenner new.

Never got the hype behind steam sales either.

I've been playing that Star Wars x wing game. Its fun, scratches an itch for an arcadey dogfighting game and the fleet battles are very moreish

Hmm, never really got involved in these but hovering tentatively over this one. Worth a shot?
Personally I've really enjoyed it so far. 63 hours played on chapter 8 now (there's 16 chapters in total). There is so much side content which you can get lost into for hours.

Really like the humour of it, though it might not be for everyone.

Is it loads of cutscenes? Watched a vid earlier and barely saw any gameplay. I'm bot sold on Spiderman MM yet so might try it out.

There are definitely a lot of cutscenes on the critical path, yes. Even outside of it, a lot of substories have you mostly following dialogue. It's never detracted from my personal experience, but it's something you should be aware of.

I'm sure you've read it before, but the main appeal is the side activities, which vary in quality. I've spent a ton of time on the cabaret club, which is easily my favourite part of the game.

Ainu nailed it on the head.

I've just hit the bit where the chinese doctor gives you painkillers to give straight to Lee and I just went right back to the cabaret club to continue that. Sorry Lee, the girls come first

I like that they also specifically have a trophy for detouring away from the main storyline for an extended period of time with the takoyaki.

It's also worth completing the cabaret club especially Majima's for the reward. They could have made a whole new game for the cabaret club it's that good

Thanks for the info. Is 0 considered to be the best Yakuza game by the way?

I've played all apart for Like a Dragon and 0 is the best imo. The others are really good too though.

Will definitely try that. But turn based combat is a turn off. One of the things things I like about Yakuza is the brawler combat.
Yeah I was skeptical at first, i dont really like Turn base combat unless it's xcom. But after a while it's so fun. Plus you don't have to fight all of Japan, you can just run away and continue on. The main guy is pretty funny.

Platinum #31 - What Remains of Edith Finch (PS5)

I played the original back in 2020 and there was no Platinum. Was happy to hear of the PS5 version coming out with free upgrade and revisiting the story. Funnily enough I had difficulty with the same trophy as the PS4 version - where you have to get two rabbits with two swoops.

I did this a few weeks back. Finally got round to playing it. Really good game / story.

I think I’m only the pool balls left to go.

Yeah it is one of the better 'walking simulators' out there. Good thing about it is you can go back and get the trophies you missed by selecting the story from the family tree on the pause menu rather than having to go through the whole game again. So the pool balls are in Barbara's story I think?

Think I'll play through TOEM before starting Yakuza Kiwami.

Yeah Barbara’s story. It’s really handy to be able to choose chapters. Quite an easy platinum ( not meaning to belittle your efforts  )

Nah, I agree. Just going through a few smaller 1-3 hour games to break up the Yakuza games. Went through the Goat Simulator DLC at the weekend to commemorate the true GOAT, Her Majesty The Queen. it was on offer

  • Mafia Definitive Edition is good. Straight to the point without any padding which I'm enjoying. Story is excellent so far. Only downside is 30fps on the PS5.
  • Finished Maneater this past weekend. It's a fun game but I was impressed and surprised by it's polished and expected it to be more of a memegame.
  • Played an hour of Guardiands of the Galaxy and that's been great. Love the start with the metal album and all.

 well played. She’d have been touched!

I enjoy breaking into smaller games for a bit. Easy to achieve stuff. Limbo and Inside were good little low commitment games. Just played through Deliver the moon again in preparation for Deliver us Mars.

I've got that on my list to play at some point or other. Heard good things.

Platinum #32 - Telling Lies (PS4)

Decided to save TOEM for another time given there's a free update for it coming out soon. As for Telling Lies... well, that... was a game - I think? At least it was over fairly quickly.
