Do you still watch when we're 3-0 down?

I’m surprised so many of you walk out or turn off when we’re losing.

It’s almost as if…….glory hunters?

I never really turn the games off before full time, but if I'm being honest, going into the second half the thing I was most interested in seeing was if Haaland would get his hat trick. Plus Antony's goal was a banger.

I remember watching the Spurs game early in the 2000’s in a Hyde pub on a dodgy box before the fire stick days when we were 3-0 down at half time. Very tempted to give up and go home but decided to stay and glad I did as I would have been devastated going home to discover we’d won 5-3. However not must chance of this shower ever doing that

Weird idea that. Not wanting to watch your side be humiliated (again) is glory hunting? I don't know if the idea of watching United amble aimlessly around while our rivals run rings around us is terribly fulfilling to many people. Perhaps they have better things to do than get off on the 'amazing, unplayable Haaland' I suppose.

Personally, I watched this mess the whole way through and it was time I wish I could get back if I'm honest. There's little point watching after 3 down these days because these players are not even close to being good enough to come back.

Yes but if it's looking Dire after some time when 3-0 down, I eventually will go on my phone or leave. When I stay it's always a disappointment and waste of time to watch us lose and not have any fight

I tried to force myself to go through with till the end but turned it off after the sixth one went in, was frightened it'll get worse but it didn't thankfully.

To be honest I'm not as bummed about this as I were for last year's drubbings as I still think Eric is the right man for the job but I certainly hope this is the the new normal...

Back in the day when I expected us to win ever game, when the game was lost early or it didn't look like we were going to get back in it, the two loses to Barcelona come to mind, I would always stick it out. It's getting harder though, and there have been games the last few years that I have turned off. But seeing United fans yesterday leaving in droves before half time shocked me into watching til the bitter end.

I watch, pretty telling to see how some react to a situation like that.

Were all those away fans leaving the ground before HT yesterday glory hunters as well?

I watch til the end personally, but I don’t really blame anyone for checking out.

I keep watching at all times though admittedly the last decade I often fall asleep during games.

Those of us that walk out or switch off have every right to do so , it is a free country.

If the race wasn’t on at the same time, I would have probably watched it. I came back to watch at 3-1. As soon as I did, Haaland scored. Thought maybe I’m jinxing things and went back to the race.

By leaving when we're losing, in effect, you're only wanting to watch when we're winning. That was the point I was making.

Usually turn it off for a moment when we concede in these big games against Pool or City because it hurts too much. Then i turn it on after a few minutes, almost squinting at the beginning because i`m scared to see that we have conceded again.
Just makes me sad to keep watching when we get hammered. But watched most of the second half yesterday. Was sure that City would relax some and let us play a little bit. 3 goals was some consolation at least.

I switched over to the American Football once the third goal went in and wish I had turned over sooner.

We were not going to get back into it the team selection and the way we were playing saw to that.

Why on earth would I torture myself further?

This thinking because you stay to watch us get more and more humiliated makes you a real fan is nonsense.

When someone stabs you you don't ask them to stab you again and again because that means your real.

You accept defeat and move on so it doesn't ruin your and everyone else's day

Well no. People are likely to watch when we are losing. I doubt that anyone switches off the moment the first goal goes in against us. Losing is part of football, there's always the chance you'll turn it around if your team isn't full of spineless, talentless, and lazy players.

I would even watch a match where we were 3 down back when SAF was manager, because it was always possible that we could turn it around. That some of those players underperforming that day would rise to the occasion, or a couple of changes from the bench would breathe new life into the team.

These days though, if we go three down to City and we have 5 or 6 players who are so clearly out of their depth that it's ridiculous, and the bench has nothing that could come close to competing with City (and is also full of players who we should have moved on already), then what's the point? Surely watching this humiliation and being excited or interested when we can't offer the slightest resistance or defiance to the team who are dominating us, is the exclusive realm of the opposition fan? Do any United fans enjoy watching that?

And ultimately, if I'm not enjoying then why would I watch, when I have a life outside of football that I could be enjoying instead? As I mentioned, I watched the whole thing and I honestly don't know why because I knew from very early on that we were not going to be competing in the same space as the opposition. I should have gone and watched my 7 month old playing with his blocks instead. That would have been far more fulfilling!

Find it pretty funny folk are trying to claim imaginary fan points for leaving their TV on when we're getting slapped.

Here's a nice, long, slow clap for you. Thank you for your unwavering support. You are clearly a "true" fan.

No way I'm sticking around to watch a United team get thrashed for 4, 5 or 6. I'm not that much of a masochist.

If we're losing and I see some hint of a fight, I'd carry on watching. But if the team is surrendering to the opposition as we did on Sunday, no thanks. I'll come back next week again.

The only glory in supporting this United team of the last 10 years is when we don't get thrashed for 4,5 or 6

Lets not make it into a competition who's a true or truer fan based on if they turn of the game or not when we're getting trashed.

Some people dont want to go through that and that doesnt make them any less of a United fan.

As for me, sometimes I switch of sometimes I watched as if I'm watching a long car crash going on.

The only people looking to claim fan points are those who keep watching us letting in six goals for some weird reason.

Personally I don't need to justify being a fan nor need anyone to tell me if I'm a real fan as I'm over 6 years old and know myself how much of a fan I am

This gate-keeping of who is and isn't a real fan is very silly. People can do what they want and it's perfectly justifiable to turn it off when you see your team offering zero fight and getting battered. I would never turn off whilst we're still in with a chance but this is like the 5th/6th time we've been absolutely pasted in the last year. It's obvious how it's going to go.

Someone who keeps their TV on is no more of a fan than someone who turns it off. Everyone has different reasons and thresholds.

Of course, it’s pure comedy at that point once you add some drinks.

it’s not like the players effort can get even lower once they’re 3-0 down.

not sure what they’re hunting. We haven’t had glory for awhile now

Anyway I usually turn it off (didn’t against City) because rather than spend the next 45 minutes or whatever annoyed, I can spend time doing something more positive.

explain what this means?

When a boxers corner throws in the towel does that mean that they are quitting his career?

Silly immature statment.
Terrible analogy. The corner wouldn’t turn around and walk off whilst the boxer is still fighting.

I’ve never stopped watching a game because we were losing. Not even when I was a child.

The corner is giving up the fight. They don't want to see any more.

Same thing as a viewer leaving or switching off.
They don't want to see any more.

Not that hard to understand is it ?

It's an action based on a scenario on the day not the big picture.

Switching off the tv doesn’t end the match.

Throwing in the towel is usually for the safety of the boxer in a dangerous sport.

Glory hunters supporting a team which has spent the last ten years miring in mediocrity? And a good part of the last 1 year as a punching bag?

I have to say, your seemingly obsessive need to prove yourself as the topest top red never fails to amuse me.
