Just complaining about players because there isn’t much else to do.

Shame really, people talk about him as some sort of virus at the club when he is good enough for our bench at the very least.

I'm starting to agree with this, but I think we should wait and see when Ronaldo is no longer in the team. Fernandes has been bad ever since Ronaldo came back. I think Bruno can work better with a more energetic forward.

I think a few players will be far better once Ronaldo goes but my worry with Bruno is that he hasn't really adapted to EtH at all.

I thought EtH would love him because of his work rate and I thought he would address the unnecessarily high turnover Bruno encourages but it hasn't changed at all.

Here's a stat for you.

No goals until the 92nd minute against the 7th team in Cyprus. And our main creator did about feck all about that except stupid passes, overhit crosses and generally waving his arms uselessly while panicking himself and the whole team.

The guy is not cut out for top level possession sides who want to dominate opposition and exert pressure.

Ten Hag will soon come to the same conclusion. If van de Injured decides to actually do some work for United, it might be sooner rather than later but we won't win diddly squat with this guy.
But you know why that was yes?

Yeah with Lindelof, Maguire, Fred, Ronaldo and a few more the midfielder who changed our fortunes during his signing is the problem.

What a silly thread.
The title is silly, the sentiment is a genuine talking point. Does Bruno have the ability to play in a possession based team? Since that is the goal moving forward at United it's worth discussing whether one of our biggest players has the attributes to fit into that system. And while very talented there are clear indicators he will not work in a Ten Hag system, thus holding the team back, due to his stature at the club and contract length.

What's the point of a discussion board if people who disagree declare a subject is not worth talking about?

I suspect the question you should be asking is, is Ten Hag a good coach? He has dropped players that do not suit his style, including Ronaldo, Maguire so clearly he has 0 issues dropping players he does not feel are suited to his style.

Not only has he started most our games, he has made him captain, which suggest the manager thinks he can work in his system, which you say is a possession based system?

Also, if there were clear indicators, he would not be starting. His stature is nowhere near Ronaldo or Maguire and both have been dropped. I think you will note that Ten Hag does not care about contract length / stature.

Players on long term contracts are benched, players with 1 year left are playing, so I dont know where you get this from, unless you suggest Ten Hag doesnt know what he is doing.

If that's the question I was asking I would be in the Ten Hag thread, but since I am discussing whether or not Bruno suits Ten Hag, I am in the Bruno thread.

It's come from good sources that in Ten Hag's interview he was told Rashford was a club priority, he had to be part of his plans. I wouldn't be shocked if the player that was just handed a massive contract 5 mins before hiring a new manager had been treated the exact same way. And which player with a contract similar to Bruno has been benched? Maguire, but there is no way to justify him playing, the world can see how bad of form he's in. But Bruno can still rack of some stats, it's just his overall effect on team play that's an issue, but you can put him in and say he produced x, but at what cost?

Look I have liked Bruno, I forked out $300 on a Bruno shift just last Jan, but the direction of the club is changing and Bruno's style may not fit the new direction. Bruno is by no means our first, second or third problem, but he will be detriment to Ten Hag successfully implementing his Ajax brand of football at United.

Could you show us the article or show us anything that says Ten Hag was told that Rashford has to be part of his plans?

I remember Phil Jones signing a contract when Ole was interim manager and was benched.

Sancho, Elanga both have same contract lengths and both are holding bench due to their performances.

Its actually funny that just because a certain player that is not fancied by fans is played by the manager the narative is "Its in his contract that he has to play x, y, z". We had that last season with Rangnick and Maguire, Ronaldo and now with Bruno.

I can guarantee you, if in the interview stage Ten Hag was told, you have to play certain players, he would have rejected the job. It is quite clear when he is benching a player of Ronaldo's stature.

I dont know how fans cant see this, Ten Hag is playing what he thinks is best not what the club think is best.

I just think 'supporters' complain for the sake of it sometime's, if it is not one player then it is another then another. It seem's people always look for the negative in everything and not the positives.

Everything can be talked about while still being silly. I make silly threads myself TBH so I have a very close affinity to silly things.

The issue I have with both your point and the OP is that it assumes a team needs to be a certain way to be good. Need I say for the n-th time that the most successful team in history, plays neither a possession game neither a high pressing one. The idea that you have to be like Pool or City to be anything is a English invention. The reality is that Madrid wipes the floor with both of these "ideals". Football is far more complicated then pressing stats and possession.

If we want to be long term success as a club then Madrid is the model. Not the Pool that won a title in 9 years or City with cheat codes yet to win a CL Cup. Both City and Pool are going to be little * at most in this era of football dominated by a Real Madrid that actually did things correctly.

This guy will never fulfill his full potential in a possesion based outfit, rather he becomes a liability with his hit and hope football. Has his place in the squad due to the specific strengths he brings, maybe more useful to bring late on as a sub in certain games.

Should not be building for the future with an eye to having him as a starter. Why would anyone run there heart out just so this guy can try one of his naive 'overhit' passes and give the ball back to opposition. Would be good in a team like Spurs currently.

He's far too reckless and careless with the ball for Ten Hag to love him, unless he neatens up his play I just long term cant see how it works out.

It doesn't matter what the most successful team did, or what Liverpool or City do, what matters is what our managers wants to do, and he wants to play a high pressing, possession based style of football, like he did at Ajax. Do you honestly think that Bruno can thrive in that system, because that is 100% what we are building towards, whether you like it, or agree with it or not.

Fernandes is a 10 in a sport that doesn’t really play with 10s any more. I like him as a United player and for his abilities but he is a big part of the shape problems in midfield.

He is, and we are seeing that, but that's because he has to adapt, you can't turn over a whole squad in a summer. But as we go through a few more transfer windows he will swap players like Bruno for ones that suit his style and the team will start to adapt to EtH vs the other way around.

This is deliciously ironic.
Its really isn't. The standard of your posting contribution in here thus far has been up there with trying to increase the volume of a river with a bucket of water..... .....
Posts an absolute turd of a post with no justification or any sort of relevancy to the thread and complains there's no essays in response.
A classic example. You'd have to literally have flunked reading comprehension in school to firstly not understand how this thread actually is full of scape goating Bruno Fernandes. Plus second to be literally teeped in being blissfully unaware of the history of the cafe scape goating Manchester United players in this EXACT way for you to dare claim it has 'no justification or any sort of relevancy to the thread".

but given the level of insightlessness you thus far are contributing to the thread. Its pretty much expected from you.....

Maybe if you posted anything above elementary school level, you might get a similar reply.

The old garbage in, garbage out is what you deserve.
no mate   Rather Its given that you can't rise above the level of a kid throwing play ground insults in your utter lack of eloquence in communicating in here. You deludedly imagine you are in a position to give ANYONE advice on sense. You are to be pitied. For this lame attempt of yours to have attention paid to you. I will leave you to your pram and your tantrum. Good bye

I have always thought he was a great player but now it looks like his limitations are coming to the fore. He runs like crazy and he can make that world class pass too. In an individual based team he did very well.
People blame Ronaldo but in this situation it's not his fault. Bruno simply makes too many wayward passes. Yes then he would make an absolute peach of a pass.
Now I agree with people who say that he may not be suited to the style ETH wants to implement. The same way with Ronaldo too.

Yup, he was supposed to control the midfield from playing on the right side while three CMs couldn't do it playing centrally.

ETH can coach him, I have no worries. Those complaining about his wayward passes today have to remember he has no movement in front of him so he has to take more risks to make something happen. Overall his attitude and talent makes us a better team.

I 100% agree that Bruno’s incline to go for the killer ball instantly he get a chance to do so is not well suited for Ten Hag ball, and to some extent that is Bruno’s biggest strength so it’s not surprising that it has been a lingering issue. Like I agree with the premises for this thread in the sense that if our game is centering around an AMC that gives up possession of the ball a lot — we can never win the league.

With that said — I definitely believe that Bruno can work with ETH and that ETH will have patience working with Bruno, because like he is a warrior. I am far from Bruno’s biggest fan, but like in the City game, 80-90% of our players collapse, shrink, play to avoid being made scapegoats and whatnot. Bruno reacts how you want a player to react, he gets tremendously frustrated, tries to do everything and anything, works even harder, and he does not collapse. Honestly, as strange as it might sound, I think that game was a bit of a turning point for Ten Hag and Bruno. Imagine that you are Ten Hag standing there, the game is litterary looking like it’s going to be 8-0 if not worse, so many players that you have put your faith in, fails you. The one guy who didn’t, who stepped up, got us up field, took the battle, that was Bruno.

My biggest question is really, what exactly can Bruno become under Ten Hag? It’s going to take a while for Bruno to round out his game and optimize his play for a much more possession oriented style. The quality of his delivery has to be a little better, his decision making — like it’s easy to “fix” his problem, just stop going for the killer ball, but if you do that you 100% take away his production and we don’t want that, do we. So it’s a process.

But can Bruno even take a step down the pitch and play more or Eriksen’s role? Like we have no back-up for Eriksen. With the schedule we have infront of us, there will be nights when neither Casemiro and Eriksen are available, right?

I’ve for a really long time been in the camp of — why not put Bruno on the wing? It’s so common in the game right now, teams want ball skills and put an AMC on the wing. But I have to admit that Bruno aren’t really thriving in that role. He don’t get the ball enough, gets a little isolated.

I love Bruno’s compete, his ability to play under pressure, how team loyal he is. From many perspectives, he would be ideal in a little bit more pulled back role. Could it work? I don’t know. Think it would be good for us if it did.

I think for all players this season we need to just wait and see how they develop throughout the season and especially then through the summer with another pre-season under Ten Hag. Pretty much everything has changed in the way things are done in the past 6 months and we are still even now seeing some hangovers of the previous 3 or 4 years. We just need to be patient and back the players and the manager through this absolutely brutal season and start judging next year when everyone has had time to gel properly. I think after Christmas when injuries start racking up the matchday XIs will all be very disjointed.

Dont think its anything to do with having people in front of him. Just look at last Sunday in the final minute he nearly cost us two points. Absolutely kamakazi ball back into the middle of the field allowing West Ham to counter and Rice almost scored. The sensible ball was down the line to Fred to run the clock out. He is so careless with the ball which in my view doesnt fit with Ten Hag. He will need to change or he will be gone.

We missed Bruno's energy in the middle against Real Sociedad. People are too focused on his Kamikaze moments which are greatly reduced but he will carry that reputation for a while. The guy is quite good on the ball...runs all day long with a ton of energy...plays every minute of every game and a lot of his mistakes came from fatigue...alot like Wayne Rooney would do trying to expend his boundless energy. Fans need to stop acting like we have an Iniesta available to play in Bruno's position. Name me one gettable player who will be better than Bruno in that position right now. I said it since last season and the reason I didn't want Ronaldo is that Bruno is not the same player with Ronaldo on the pitch....he even missed that Penalty...hit the post last season..I believe had alot to do with Ronaldo there. Bruno just doesn't play with the same authority.

Thread gets bumped purely on the basis of result.

A few good games for the team, nothing said here.

A result we don't like and bump.

It’s such a shame that his goal scoring form has turned to shit.

With the defence and midfield we have now a 30 goal a season Bruno would have us fighting for the title.

That one never existed though without an inflated number of penalties.

Yeah 15 non penalty goals would be a great return imo. He's still very creative but we struggle to score.
