Love this version of Rashford, guess it shows the impact of a top coach. My favourite thing is he doesn't give the ball away so cheaply anymore, and the aggressiveness and will to win is very apparent. Fantastic.
It also shows how important it is for a footballer to be in the right frame of mind. He was brilliant tonight.

He should be starting for England off the left with Saka on the right. Kane drops deep and interlinks it all. Foden at 10.
That'd be good to be fair, always think Rashford could emulate Son for Kane.

He seems to have lost the ability to worry a fullback. Like he's not interested or maybe not capable of going at one.

Will be interesting to see what happens as he gets older on terms of his position. Starting to look like he might be more suited to the centre forward position as time goes on.

The balance and composure for his goal was world class. Seems proper up for it this season, and thank feck too. We're going to need him scoring 15-20.

Bang in form, should be starting for England over Sterling every day of the week but i'd rather he doesn't and rests up for us.
England forward line should be Kane, Rashford, Foden, Saka but I’m expecting Grealish, Kane, Sterling.

He should hit 20 if he escapes injury... He'd already got 9 and we've only played 1/3 of the season.

Another goal for Rashy. He's on course for another 20 goal+ season.

He's a championship player though apparently. Ha ha ha.

Thought he was electric today. He seems to have got that pace & agility back that looked to have gone. Its night and day from the player we saw last season.

The lad looks to be enjoying his football again, and it’s fantastic to see. I don’t understand how any United fan could not support or want Rashford to thrive. He’s everything this club is about.

I have always been one of those who freaked out when Rashford was played as a striker, and like especially due to how poor he is to hold up the ball, but damn, he has all the raw skill needed to play there doesn't he? And if our transition play is more controlled under ETH, that won't be as much of a problem for Rashford.

Still think he has been -- far -- from good enough when played as striker this season. But is it really impossible for him to learn the trade there? Like Rashford isn't less skilled than someone like Oshmien. Rashford at LW for like AC Milan with Oliver Giroux at ST would be a 120m player kind of like Leao. He would score a ton in the Serie A.

Or maybe we should just keep him as a LW.

His explosiveness is something else right now. When he takes shots, jumps, moves laterally, its at a level not many other does in this game.

That heading to Eriksen, then use body strength to create space for his shot. That was very Nistelrooy. He'll have a very exciting season highlight video.

Is he starting to become a better striker than left sided forward? His duels are improving (when he goes for them), and that goal was brilliantly set up and taken.

Nah he's still best as a left wide forward, he'll never have the hold up/back to goal play in his nature but on the left with Martial through the middle is a great mix. Left wide forward and a hold up striker.

Could be more goal if Fred released the ball a bit quicker.

I don't know about him as striker, man. Sometimes he played like a proper championship striker, sometimes he scored really good goals. I think it will be a long shot to have him as a striker. I don't see it, but who knows.

He’s developping his aerial play at least. I think he has been more effective centrally this season, I think. Can’t back to goal awareness be trained?

Ironically, with Villa’s ultra high line, this was the perfect match for Rashford the Left Sided Forward to exploit that, which Fernandez and Eriksen (!) showed. Yet Rashford shone more when he moved inside today.

You’re right about that. Fred is so frustrating. Brilliant against Spurs, next time he starts, he can not do a single thing half right. He had three seconds to hit that one option that was right in front of him. So frustrating.

I don’t know either. I know that Marcus seems a bit of a slow learner when it comes to his weak points, so when it looks like he’s improved his heading, his pressing and his movement already under Ten Hag, I get hopeful! :)

Think that was just coincidental with Bruno being moved centrally and Eriksen coming on. Not due to Rashford himself. He had nobody giving him those passes in the first half.

Don't think the back to goal play can be trained enough for what he needs tbh, his style is just not like that to really have that come naturally to him. But off the left it's almost like he's playing in a lopsided front 2 anyway.

Very nice goal. Can he please learn how to hold his fecking line on those runs from LW though.
To be fair to him a few times the midfield didn’t release the ball quick enough. One in particular with Fred taking a needless extra touch before giving the pass.

Loved the piece of play for the goal, the initial header to win the ball then the strength and pace to get in behind for the finish. Seems a completely different player to the one we’ve seen in the past 18 months and seems back to his best.

I hope he has a good tournament too as the penalty shootout debacle in the last tournament can’t have helped his confidence, although he was in poor form prior to that too.

Well according to him no. He Said he’s better on the left and that he has a lot of learning to do to play centre forward. It was actually a very good interview. I’ve slagged him off a lot but that performance and interview were excellent.

He's enjoying himself out there and when he's like that he has those sort of games like last night.

The salt in some of the faint praise in here
It must hurt some that he is our best attacker this season. Man has done a job from the left and as a striker this season yet you had some being mad that he isnt effective from the right. Basically he should master the entire front line. Keep pissing them off Rashy:lol:

With how the schedule is I won't mind a few of our players being used as super subs instead of starters.

He looks really sharp at the moment, he looks like the best one in our forward line. Dangerous, always a threat and working back now as well.

Unfortunately, whatever Rashford does, he wont start for England because Southgate prefers Sterling.

I agree that we sorely lacked through balls with the set up for the first hour. Fred’s deep zen meditation private think tank commitee discussion with himself that finally released Rashford in abundant offside, illustrated that point beautifully.

I certainly agree that Marcus is short of some very useful skills when it comes to shielding the ball physically, which came to light when Chambers (I think) just body tackled him off the ball in the box at one point where it seemed impossible to get through him without making a penalty. He has a high centre of gravity and not much anticipation, and I suspect he is a little bit queasy.

Ah, I missed the interview. Maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s the fact that he has been head and shoulders our best striker this season when picking from players that have at least one 90 m performance.
