If I was giving the half time team talk for Argentina, I'd tell them to focus on not being permanently offside.

I really object to the idea that an arm or shoulder can be offside, I've always said it should be measured by where your feet are.

Argentina are going to set a record for the highest amount of disallowed goals in one half.

Controversial opinion but I feel a goal should only be given offside if the player actually scores with the body part is offside.

On paper we should be able to get a result against Mexico but we never do well in the World Cup and openers are always the same ie high hopes that end up with a terrible performance and result… Korea 2002, Ecuador 2006, Senegal 2018. Same happened in Euro last year. Guess we will probably lose 3-1.
This is the first tournament in years when I don't have any expectations at all. And as I look around, there are quite a few of us. Maybe that could actually lead to something good, but - let's be frank - I'd go for an easy 3-0 win for Mexico.

I might not survive watching our defenders...
History is meant to be broken. I have Argentina and you to qualify from the group. If you actually follow Mexico's results in the CONCAF, they have been outrageously horrific. This is also definitely Lewandowski's last World Cup so he would want to make an impact.

Well, kinda, they're 2 inches away from not being 3-0 down. Which is better than their counterparts but I can't see the score line staying as is for long.
Well yeah, but they actually look slightly better technically, Qatar and Iran cannot even put simple pass together

Saudis are playing the offside trap to perfection so far but it won’t last long, Messi will adjust and punish them. They need to be careful.

Argentina are not the quickest side in the world. Could do with someone more ready to drive with the ball than Papu Gomez

If Scaloni is smart he will send Licha out for Otamendi.

Lichas long balls for di maria would be really dangerous, Otamendi being right footed can’t use that

The Martinez goal looked very onside. Even on the offside decision replay, they only compared the line with the defender close to Martinez, whereas the the left back was the one playing him onside by a yard. ??

This game reminds me of united vs villa in the cup. Theres always going to be so much space for that ball over the top to run into.

The shoulder offside is baffling. It's pure making it up as they go along. They can simply decide when and if they want it to be goal or not, based on basically nothing but bias.
this shouldn't be offside if common sense is used

You can see that Argentina may struggle against better teams with only 2 in midfield.
They have Enzo Fernandez who should probably be playing.

Alexis MacCallistar, Paredes, De Paul too, they could even drop Messi deeper and play Dybala.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Pretty clear error I thought
