Harry Souttar is actually a decent defender. I must admit he is probably the only Australian player I’d have at United as a squad player. Offers a bit more than Maguire

Algeria (Mahrez, Bennacer), Nigeria (Osimhen, Ndidi) and Ivory Coast (Kessie, Zaha) probably have better squads than some of the teams that qualified, but they all failed somehow.
Nigeria definitely, they have a lot of players that pkay in the top leagues. Iwobi, Lookman, Osimhen are great attacking options.

African qualifiers are brutal though, you have to go through so many rounds to qualify. Nigeria lost to Ghana in the final playoff on away goals 1-1. Which is a shame as they'd definitely show more than some of these other African teams.

Picking the right manager is the biggest hurdle for African teams.

And the right manager for the qualifiers isn’t always the right manager for the finals…. I was surprised to learn that all 5 nations are coming to this WC with local coaches. It’s the first time ever there are 5 African managers in a WC… They probably understand and can navigate African context (away games etc..) better than more qualified European tacticians, but the finals will need more.

In what way? He's a inferior version of Maguire. Plays at Stoke City for a reason.

Saudi to win or at least draw. They'll dominate this Polish side. It's not like they only beat Argentina, they've been extremely good for thr the past couple of years.

Hope Saudi Arabia beat Poland and knock them out. Such an incredibly boring team, never offer anything even while having a genuinely world class player up front. Don't know why Zielenski is always so bad for Poland, I've never seen him have a good game. Looks like a completely different player at Napoli.

Well done to Australia. On paper they look very weak but getting 3 points is massive. I don't think this Danish team is amazing so they have a chance, especially if France beat Denmark. Asia continuing to impress.
If we cannot beat Australia we deserve to go out. On paper we are miles better.

Poland playing so no doubt a snooze fest incoming.
Kick it to Lewandowsk
Quite the opposite really. They can lose to France and still finish ahead of Australia.
Yes but everyone’s assumption here is that Denmark will beat Australia comfortably. I’m not so sure. They don’t have the same wonderful energy from the EC.
It would have been better for Danmark that they drew and then you’d have 2 teams with less that 3 points.

Saudi Arabia are playing some lovely stuff. Hope they can get a result to knock this boring Polish team out.

Poland have been very underwhelming so far in this tournament.

Would like to see Lewa get a goal or two but can't see Poland doing much, maybe I'll be wrong.

Saudi look up for it today.
It’s alright having one of the best strikers in the world but if you’ve got no creativity and service to him then it’s pointless.
