While that is definitely true he was well shit for about a year and a half when we did it :wenger:

Love him now of course, really looks like he's enjoying his game again.
Yeah I know, he was very poor for an extended time but I always felt with him it was temporary instead of a case of the Lingards, which felt permeant

Exactly. People act like wanting him sold based on the last 18 months prior to ETH was some wild opinion when he was often times the laziest/least impactful player on the pitch. It was pathetic.

Thank god he’s improved, we’ve needed it considering our forward issues this year. If he can continue gaining confidence on his left foot I could see him going up a level as well.

Poor first half. Amazing second. Love to see him enjoying his football again. Needs to play against Senegal.
He didn't really have a poor half, did he? He looked the most dangerous outlet and didn't convert the only real chance the team had, but looked the most likely to make it happen and did. He makes things happen and England need that.

If he doesn’t start over Sterling in the next game I’ll be raging. Sterling is possibly the most overrated player in the England setup over the past decade.
There’s a bunch of players that I just don’t get what they offer, nothing players. Sterling, Mount, Havertz, Lingard, etc. You compare them to say a Del Piero or a Totti who played the same position and their output and overall game is embarrassing.

Yep, not having a 100% conversation rate = poor in the CAF's eyes. He was England's only threat in the first half but of course he doesn't get credit for that

The whole team was poor, why did Rashford need to be sold?

I don't know what game you guys were watching but it was quite clear he was poor in the first half. Most things that went him turned into mush. The second half performance was night and day.

The positions he finds himself in when playing like this are incredible. If his finishing was elite then he’d be reaching frightening levels (in this form obviously). I’m not sure he’ll ever reach that, but he doesn’t have to. I’m so excited to see what ETH can do with him over the next few years.

Tbf because he was legit terrible for a looooong time though I do think you prob have to lay most of the blame at Ole’s door.

I always thought he had tools to become potentially world class but will admit I lost the faith last season. Under good coach (not Southgate) and with confidence he can do things that other players just can’t do. The free Kick vs Chelsea was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

He has infuriating moments like in first half today in space in the final third he managed to place the easiest pass outside to a Welsh centre back. But he is a game changer and on a good day he looks scary good. I think he’ll only get better under ETH but I would like him to become a better team player without losing his ability to do damage to opponents.

A bit like with Southgate let’s see how he does against some decent opposition before we declare him as mbappes rival. I think he has it in him but let’s see it first,

Nobody scores 100% of their chances, but he was the only one making them to begin with. Got his reward in the end and you could see it coming from the first half.

There’s no bias, he was a good player in poor form, anyone could have been sold during that time.
No, anyone can't just "be sold" at any time. You still have to find willing buyers for the player. We'd all love to bin off Phil Jones and the rest of the deadwood we've had over the years for fat fees, but that's not reality. Rashford still had clout as a notable asset though, and questioning whether we should take 80m+ for a player that after his back injury was borderline terrible both in performance and application for 18 months was valid, especially given we were trying to change the culture at the club with ETH cleaning house and starting from the ground up.

For a guy that usually puts his boot through the ball when he should have done it towards the end for his hat trick he didn’t .

Was watching the game with two non-united fans. Both said he should come off at half time (probably weren't too wrong on that to be fair). When he stepped up for the freekick they were scoffing and slating him "Why is HE stepping up???". " Because he's going to smash it in the net, he's going to score. Watch it. Watch this" i said.

Me chair flew yards away in the pub and they were laughing so hard that it came off for me. What a goal Rashy. Absolute limbs when it went in (we were also a fair few pints in and the atmosphere in the pub was great, it was packed).

I thought he lacked end product in the first half. He obviously was good in the second half. It was nice to see him score from the right as well.

You need to let go of this as the centre of your being. Stop exaggerating and look at his career highs and lows in context. You're a United fan ffs.
Jesus, please don’t rewrite history, much like the bible.
He really WAS terrible for at least 18 months. Don’t let a decent performance against WALES fool you.
Let’s all hope his hundreds of thousands a WEEK keep his mind on the job. Fekk me. What flakes

He's been England's top performer in the last 2 tournaments and their best attacker by far. Kane on the other hand has been a donkey at every major event.

Fekkin hell. Wish I could be half assed at my job for 18 months and earn 180K a month for it.
Perspective people please.

I really hope he’s turned a corner, but let’s see. X

If anything it's a bit irritating to see him try his hardest for England and pressing like a terrier off the ball when he's spent the last couple of years strolling around like defensive responsibility is beneath him for us.

Only watched the highlights since i was watching (and trying to stay awake) our game against Qatar. Watched the England highlights. Good to see Rashford scoring twice!

Question though, shouldnt he have passed for that second goal? England player free in the middle and Rashford was quite lucky it went through the legs of the goalkeeper.

Almost like the pair of you are annoyed he's performing well this season.

Exactly this my good man!
To be so half hearted for so long in a United shirt when taking hard earned money off United fans boils my piss.
I could’ve walked on the pitch and given more heart in my fifties than he has for a large percentage of the last few years.
Perspective Marcus please! A million people would love to be in your position
