Really disappointing. The team played really well in the 2nd half. Should have taken this to extra time at least.

On the balance of play the better team lost.

France were very lucky to get away with a win.

Not at all impressed by this French yeah team, but they've Mourinho'd their way through the the quarters and should have too much for Morocco, the final will be a toss-up.
Cry me a river. The impressive teams are out…
In football, winning is more important then being impressive apparently.

I mean... England played reasonably well. They looked like the better side for long periods.

But... they looked more dangerous than they actually were and frankly, needed two stupid, needless fouls by France to have a chance.

Giroud is incredible. It feels like he always scores with a header.

Fecking England never seem to get an upset against a better side, always have to predictably lose and put in a "cute" performance after which everyone predictably says it's "promising" for the next tournament.

Pathetic NT.

England unlucky, as they often are in big matches. Can’t afford to miss penalties though in those circumstances.

England played well but didn't actually look dangerous from open play at all. Created nothing in that regards.

And at the end of the day if you get two penalties but can't do anything from open play then you can have no complaints.

16 shots and 8 on target to France’s 8 and 5. Can’t complain too much imo.

Despite the loss I truly believe that’s the best account England have given of themselves against a big side in a knock out game for a long long time. Same outcome though sadly. A real shame. We really should have won this game.

We were the slightly better team on the day.

But just don't have the belief to win it.

kane bringing that small club mentality with him to this WC.

Maguire looks devastated he has to come back and warm the bench for us now

John Stones needs kicked in his namesake for lying on the ground like that.
I don't care if he's snapped his fecking tendon. It's a World Cup, you fecking creep off if you have to.
