Tier 3 (i.e. may have some legs, but don't take it too seriously):
News: 3 clubs have already made a first offer for Joško Gvardiol.
  • Man City offer €100m + bonuses.
  • Man United offer €95M.
  • Chelsea offer €90M.
  • Interest from Bayern.
  • Gvardiol has a preference for PL.
  • City's bid also includes a resale percentage.
  • Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested but are unsure about what Leipzig want for the player.
  • No interest from PSG and Liverpool

I don't believe we have made any kind of offer for him. Although I wouldn't be against us signing Gvardiol I don't see why he would be prioritised while we still have Varane, Martinez, Maguire and Lindelof at the club. Especially since we have a huge need for a striker and probably a midfield partner for Casemiro before addressing other areas of the squad.

I think it’ll be Gakpo and nothing else. We don’t have much money if those financial reports recently are to be believed. Plus if the Glazers are selling, what’s the incentive to spend massive amounts, especially if they are looking for the sale prior to June? I don’t think anything other than a prolific striker (which Gakpo isn’t) is going to improve our chances of top four with just a few months to go.

Ooh, Denzel Dumfries (Tier 2):
Weird that we want another young RB with a high price tag, after reports that ETH wants Dalot to stay, and by all accounts, he seems to rate him. Wild guess, but maybe ETH wants to convert Dalot to a CB?

Dalots contract needs renewal so perhaps keeping our options open and planning ahead

Ooh, Denzel Dumfries (Tier 2):
Not particularly enthused about Dumfries. I don't see him as anything other than a wing-back, might be a decent option for a Chelsea or Spurs. United? Not so much.

I like the Gusto link. That's a young player who has talent and could develop into a good player in his position. You can count on one hand the amount of times we've successfully done that in the last decade.

Dalot is doing well this season but strengthening while you're strong is the way to do things. Too often we've let things become problems before acting, and then you get held over a barrel and pay a massive premium anyway.

Not sure if that Plettenberg ever really calls much right for us, mind.

Ooh, Denzel Dumfries (Tier 2):
Think Gusto adds something different given his technical proficiency. I haven't watched much of Frimpong but heard he's not the greatest defensively but very athletic. Don't understand the profile of a Dumfries either good player but he's very first team material why would he come and essentially be second string to Dalot ? I guess he would have the same issue at Chelsea with James but unfortunately for Reece he has sustained injuries the last few seasons.

Birmingham? Villa think they can get Felix? or is it the Portugese enclave of Wolverhampton
It's Aston Villa, and it's all thanks to Jorge Mendes. He's the one who's pushing for this move. if the player doesn't want to move there, then that'll be the end of the Villa links.

The agents must be walking around with their dicks constantly rock hard thinking about all the new mega rich club owners around Europe. Felix for 130m Leao for 100m Gvardiol for 90m.. Yikes

One dominant CM to take pressure off Eriksen and Casemiro and one young energetic CF with an eye for goal is needed. Top 4 spot is there for the taking. We must spend this January to avoid another summer of falling further behind rivals because we're not in the CL.

I’d rather we steered clear of Morata, he’s already proved to be not great in the PL. If he can’t do it at a little club like Chelsea then United is a step up to far for him….. please bite!

Ah, here we go. Lots of words to say the Glazers have no interest in spending a dime. With Sancho unavailable and Martial being made out of glass, we are one injury away from having to field Rashford as CF with Garnacho and Antony on the wings. The team is struggling to score as it is and it's unclear what effect the World Cup will have on their morale and confidence. Not exactly optimal if Top 4 is the goal. And with Dalot seemingly injured, we actually have no one to play RB.

If a sale is going to happen, I really hope it happens sooner rather than later.

Which is why I don't get everyone seems turn their noses up at a Morata loan or Depay on a free, this was always going to be our level with no cash to spend. It's either average level player like those 2 or nothing.

It’s unsurprising really. We spent an awful lot in the summer and I’m not surprised to see them clutching at purse strings. Surely they can’t let ten Hag go into the second half of the season with just Martial, though. We desperately need a Ronaldo replacement just in terms of raw numbers

Wouldn't expect any spending while the club is up for sale. The last set of accounts didn't make for pretty reading, either. It'll be a quiet January for United - maybe a loan deal as described above.
