Good win tonight. Lot of technicals on the Dubs. Haven't seen the game yet, got side tracked 'cause of Xmas.

Will check it out tomorrow.

Nets are being good, 8 in a row and 13-1 in the last 14.
We've been very good of late. Some big wins last week against the Warriors and Bucks. Hopefully continue tonight against the Cavs as well. Made a decent start too.

If we keep Kyrie and KD healthy we will always be a threat though. Still not 100% confident in our defence and rebounds been a big issue at times for us.

Would love to see us win a championship. Started following the Nets when I briefly lived in NJ when they weren't very good at all. Stayed with them after the move to BK.

14 wins in the last 15 games, now just 2 wins behind Celtics.

Knowing their luck, KD is gonna get injured soon.

Luka will get it as long as the Mavs are a top-6 seed. If not, they’ll give it to Tatum.

Voter fatigue is real and people have question marks about Jokic in the playoffs.
Voter fatigue is stupid.

What question marks? He's been brilliant in the playoffs. And that's literally irrelevant to a regular season award.

These awards are always about narrative and therefore stupid and even Jokic has slightly benefited from that. Steph was a distant 3rd in 2020-21 because the Warriors sucked even though his performances were MVP-worthy and should have gotten a lot more 1st place votes though Jokic was a deserving winner as well.

As for playoffs, he has been targeted by Portland, Suns and Warriors in the last 3 seasons. He gets hunted by guards on switches and Nuggets end up playing drop coverage. Seeing him getting cooked in the playoffs on the perimeter and midrange will lead to questions. I think he will solve it eventually and maybe even this season with a fit Jamal Murray but it has to happen first.

Voter fatigue gave us 96-97 where the world finally got an answer to the question:
“What does it look like when a man eats another mans soul”

Over the last two season Jokic has can one of the best defensive C's in the league. This is evidenced by the stats. It's up to the coaches to get the defensive rotations right.

Jokic leads all the advanced stats over the last two seasons, and now this one too. The only argument used against him last season was the Nuggets record, which was still very good despite playing with a team of potatoes. Even then he played in more wins than Embiid.

This season it's not an argument (still plenty of time though), and so now it shifts to Voter fatigue despite him being ahead in essentially every advanced stat to go along with his historic TS and all-round brilliant play.

He is not one of the best defensive centers in the league especially when it comes to the playoffs. I love his offense but he gets picked on by every top guard in the playoffs. I don't know what to say if you think otherwise except asking you to go and watch last season's playoff series against the Warriors or the Suns the season before. Playoff basketball and intensity and foul calling is very different to regular season.

And Luka (or even Steph assuming he comes back with the same form) winning over Jokic this season wouldn't be crazy even if you only want to focus on advanced stats. DRIP has Steph at 1; EPM has Jokic but Luka and Steph are pretty close; and LEBRON (or DARKO which are very similar) has Jokic but Embiid and Giannis are close. The other
"advanced" stats like Raptor are junk which had Warriors finishing 12th in the West last season, and have no correlation to winning basketball.

Luka just had another 50+ point game for a garbage Mavs again.

KAJ, Jordan, Russell, Lebron, Wilt, Magic, Bird and Malone are the only 3+ winners. All but Malone are top-12 all-time certs. All of them won a NBA championship either before or for their 3rd MVP award. These narratives are going to hold for Jokic as well.

Meh I like Jokic but you are going to be surprised and shocked when they don't give the MVP to him for fairly consistent reasons.

Luka's reaction today on the deliberately missed FT followed by the game-tying 2-pointer is epic - Knicks were up by 9 points with 45s to go.

Luka's stats today - 60 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists. First 60/20/10 game in NBA history.

Malone’s 79 MVP should have been Kareem’s 6th (and 80 his 7th). :)
Great stat pull by the way!!

That was waaaaay too close. Up by 18 at the start of the 2nd half and a double digit lead going into the 4th and the Dubs have to hang on by the skin of their teeth.

....against the freaking Hornets for God's sake.

As to the MVP, it's a regular season award and at the moment with the Nuggets being the number 1 seed, Jokic would deserve it.

Dunno why even mention playoffs for regular season award, also when it comes to playoffs, this whole thing like Jokic is only center that is being hunted or have problems vs freaking SC 3 miles away from the basket, not to mention perimetar defense of Denver last 2 seasons, Campazo, Austin R., Monte. Hell even this season with better defenders, shit still suck while in the same time they have best clutch defense, mfs just cant be bothered during whole game.

Jokic has his limitations as defender nobody can deny that but he certainly aint shit in overall like people act, guess what you lack on one side you gain way more on other, besides personal contribution he makes players around him so much better with not highest usage.

At the end MVP thing turns reall weird when you add voter fatigue thing, dumbest shit ever, just because feckers fecked in the past vs Lebron, Jordan etc. creating such bs tradition/unwritten rule, why you would keep honoring it. Hope Jokic doesnt win 3rd, otherwise it would mean supports cast are injured again or their level aint back to before injuries.

Jokic couldnt care less, tonight prime example, having one shot attempt in 1st Q. 2 attempts in whole half, while trying to create open shots for others is his version of heaven.

Also what the hell is that stat line by Luka haha, good shit, good shit.

It would be close between Luka, Tatum, Jokic and Giannis as mvp contenders. My heart says Tatum will win it, since I’m diehard Boston fan ahaha. This year Boston will smash everything in playoff with Tatum being final-mvp.

Luka was insane last night. Best triple-double ever?

Feel that the MVP is between him and Tatum.

No, right now Jokic is clear, which is both ridiculous and true

So when it comes to MVP, there are few things that media pushes as important, one of those is whole how much your team wins, do they count whole standings regardless of did MVP candidate played in all of them or not? Also which has higher value seeding or winning %?

Last year narrative for Jokic was, his 2nd and 3rd option and 60mil. were out and he got them to playoffs etc. There is difference between not having help due high players being injured and roster being shit constructed due having players with 2/2/2 statline while being paid 25mil per year (for example).

Hope Luka wins it but have a feeling push for Tatum will be to strong, there are already noises about his complaining to refs as he is the only doing it, his ball hogging/usage rate etc.

At this point I would go:
1. Jokic
2. Luka
3. Tatum

But I would have no issue with people ordering them differently.

Luka is basically LeBron mk2. They’re the most selfish unselfish player. Their stats make them look so much better because they’ve such a high usage rate but most of their teammates are forced to play in a certain way to bring out the best in Luka/LeBron. Best player probably, but most valuable player is a no for me.

Jokic is still the MVP front runner for me, he basically continued what he’s doing on lesser usage in order to let Murray back into the team after his injury. Tatum though the media wankery will probably see him get the MVP because they would love the whole Tatum MVP story the season Bill Russell died and also because there’s no way they’ll let Jokic be a three time straight MVP winner

I wouldn't have Luka in my top 3. I think he's the best player of those you have listed but (for me) it's hard to be considered valuable if all you do is make your team competitive instead of actually getting wins. The Mavs need more wins for Luka to have a real shot.

You should see the start of the season, it was laughable, having like one attempt in a half, 4 in total or similar shit.

Have a feeling that all this regular season thing (in the West) is waste of time, if GSW are healthy, Klay gets a bit more in a groove, they will roll shit on any team.

At the moment, that's a big "if".
