Both were a huge waste of money. Probably the best part of £40m all in for very little return.

Cavani was a waste his second season as was Ighalo for the time he was here in the second season, but that is because we signed replacements for them and didn't then offload each of them when we should have.
Ighalo scored 5 and assisted 1 just over 500 minutes in his first half season with us. That is far from a bad signing given what his role was.
Cavani had 17 goals and 6 assists in just over 2000 minutes. Again, not sure how that could be deemed a failed signing. if you had any suggestions of players that can be signed (and available from their clubs) for cheaper including transfer fee and wages and contribute that over a two year span, then I would love to hear those suggestions.
It is really easy to say "they aren't good enough" or "we should just sign someone better", but the reality is that the striker market is very poor overall and anyone half decent is going to cost more than 50 million pounds.
