Whilst no one outside the club really knows what goes on in training, it was always a mystery to me why Pellestri was getting selected by Uruguay but not getting a look in at Utd.

After tonight's cameo Elanga's fate is sealed and no way should he be getting minutes ahead of this lad.

Crazy situation. He looked good during preseason, looks good when he plays for Uruguay but can’t buy playing time here.

Left with the same feeling every time I see him play: why the hell is he not playing more. Certainly offering a lot more than Elanga.

Better than Elanga already. Not even joking. Great decision making on the assist and a lovely technical turn out of pressure in his own area helping out the defence.

Start him Vs Reading.
You do know Pellistri is older than Elanga?

Edit: I think both need a loan until the end of the season. When Sancho returns neither will play much.

Send him out on loan, he needs to be playing, warning the Utd bench won't do him any good, come back next season,
Why not use him, instead. Bar Antony, he is the only real right wing him the squad.

Must be a personal issue with player and manager. Can’t see any other reason behind it. Clearly talented, thought so from day one. His performances for Uruguay have also been impressive. Yeah it was a cameo against Charlton but the control of the ball and general composure he shows is of a player good enough to play at a good level, certainly as a bench option for us.

If ETH really doesn’t want him, get him sold along with Elanga and bring in some funds so we can replace the shite like McTominay and Maguire in summer.

Albeit a very thin assessment basis but based on todays match Pellistri should be a contender to Elanga as RW-backup going forward. Elanga could perhaps use a loan to another top-league club somewhere to get going again, i.g. Everton if the rumours of their interest are true.

It will be very difficult to get game time with the competitions on the wings when we still have Sancho to come back
But until he comes back, then let him get his game time. Maybe Sancho will have to earn his place back in the team

Must be oversleeping this lad, that's the only thing that makes sense as most days he doesn't even make the bench!

Its tiring the amount of times Elanga name is brought up here yet Anyony's name is going under the radar.

We all know Elanga may not be upto the level we're aiming for but I expect quite abit more from Hag's 80 million pound winger.

Pellestri played with direction and purpose. It was refreshing to see from another wide player at United, outside of Rashford.

Because he's extremely talented, and those clubs are two of the absolute best at developing talents. When I said I'd bet he would be nearly world class, it is with the assumption that he would play every game for them, like Antony did for Ajax or Sancho for Dortmund.

Sigh. Hope it's to a good club atleast
With Sancho not available and Antony not doing great, there should be plenty of chances to Pellistri. I hope he stays. Him and Garnacho on the wings would be a great , both pacy and direct.

ETH praised him post match. We'll be seeing more of him for sure.

Hopefully good competition for Antony.

Probably lacks a bit of end product, but his dribbling and touch seem class, pretty much only slighlty less direct as Garnacho with better control and less confidence to finish but that really shouldnt stop him develop into a great player imho.

Sterling became a borderline worldclass player with a similar skillset.

Always felt he had the talent, glad he could finally show it. Unfortunately I think he will see limited game time here and go off on loan (which will probably be a bust). But I do hope he stays and gets game time off the bench. I love how he glides past players

What has he done to be behind Elanga in the pecking order? Clearly it's not on footballing abilities? His work rate seems fine from the cameos I've seen of him. It's pretty bizarre he's behind Elanga who offers nothing.
His agent mouthing off about leaving probably didn’t do him any favours.

United can’t afford to play a team of developing emerging players each week in the PL.

That said the lad that scored two goals today isn’t bad is he? And that Greenwood fella was a pretty good player. Oh and Garnacho?

Came on, ran at their full back, beat him, beat him again, got into the box twice, played decent balls in. Looked like Garnacho mark 2 on the other wing. He deserves more game time than Elanga.

I don't know if I necessarily agree that he'd already be world class at either of those clubs, but you can get the point he's making. Young players who are on the periphary at United would naturally get more opportunities at those types of clubs, and game time is huge part of a player's development at his age.

Having said that, I hope he stays here for the rest of the season because he should get chances with the first team playing like he did tonight. We've got a lot of games to come and not much depth in attack to contend with them.

That is fair.

I got the sense the poster was whinging about United developing players which I find odd given Rashford is flying and Garnacho is integrating really well.

Looks like he has something about him. Whether or not he can do it against better opposition remains to be seen but he grabbed an assist and could easily have gotten a second in only a small cameo.

If that was the case he wouldn’t have even played

Hopefully starts getting a few more minutes to see how he does and definitely did himself no harm tonight. Like how direct he is and we're desperate for another option on the right.

Love how to praise a youngster, we have to bash another one of our players on here.

Loan makes most sense, we've chosen some good ones this season and best thing for him is game time.

I think he's shown from the first minute that he was on the pitch that he can make an impact which is a lot more than many of our subs over recent years have shown. There's no way he's not good enough to have even gotten a chance to show what he can do off the bench. Don't remember him losing the ball and his runs caused chaos. In addition to setting up Rashford's first, he made a great decoy run to create space for Rashford's second. So valuable to have a guy who is relatively press resistant too and can take his man on and beat him one on one. Really enjoyed tonights cameo and hopefully he's shown tonight that he deserves more chances to show what he can do.
