Also I've not been following - but I'm assuming Varane and Bruno were rested last night, and aren't a doubt for this game?

There are no excuses, we go into this game in the best form we have been for ages.

If City beat us then its purely down to them being a better side than us, but I really believe we will give City a hell of a game and no doubt we can win this game.

I think we will struggle more away to Arsenal than at home to City.

Yeah, 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw in 5 PL meetings is definitely not a very good record vs Pep's superteams whilst OGS had a weak as hell squad throughout his United tenure. Even 4 in 9 isn't that bad if you count all competitions.

You're so invested in football that you have 25,000 messages on an online forum but at the same time believe that "Under Ole, Pep didn't even bother prepping his team"

When Dortmund studied our win vs them at the Etihad for their upcoming CL quarter final vs City, I'm sure all they found is that we had "no tactics, just vibes". I reckon you're one of those people
You're a bit broken. Saying he had his number is factually bullshit since Pep still won the majority of the games.

And its not about what I believe. Its about the facts - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sp...ms-kevin-de-bruyne/1te1af8n7y6vy1xvokmm0qx28e

"The day before a game we usually train tactically, based on how the opponent plays.
But before United, Pep said: 'We don’t know how they are going to play. We shall see'. And we stopped training after 10 minutes or so."

Now stop getting but hurt over the obvious fact that Ole had no established style to hang his hat on (nor was he remotely competent at embedding it), and Pep just stopped bothering to prep toward the end.

Hoping we get a point from this game. Also hoping Pep tactically overthinks his preparation for this game and we take advantage

It’s more their bench is insane and ours is bang average. That will play a big part I’m sure. They’ve rotated constantly and everyone has seen limited minutes compared to us all season. Their best player wasn’t at the World Cup etc. all helps.

City usually look for the players that are struggling most under pressure and then go at them hard. I'm assuming this will likely be AWB. They're always open on the counter so here's hoping.

We need to be solid and not gets delusions of grandeur. Our form is good but we shouldn’t throw caution to the wind and try press these guys too high and leave ourselves open. No Dalot is an issue simply because AWB is so bad when pressed. I would play Malacia RB and Shaw left.

    DDG
    Shaw
    Varane
    Martinez
    Malacia
    Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Bruno
    Antony
    Rashford
    Martial

don’t want to see Garnacho starting cause it means we will see Rashford shifted out right.

They’re definitely vulnerable defensively at the moment so if we can stop that freak up front we have a chance.

Is this going to be the most even it’s been for a while?

I think City will press us again in our own half, that's the biggest threat we face. If we are going to lose the ball again in our own half like we did in the last game, we are doomed.
Last time ETH was a bit naive imo to ask the team to play from the back. He might just sit deep and counter this time I think. You don't play from the back then their high pressing won't do much.

I know this doesn't sound fancy and a big portion of our fans doesn't like this approach but for me the most important thing is to use what would work. Imo if ETH is practical he'll do so. Just sit deep and hit them on the break with our fast forwards. Simple but work all the time imo.

Anyone else get the feeling that he's going to bottle this? Like he does in the latter stages of the Champions League.

Really hoping Martial and Dalot are fit and that Fred gets a start. I really fancy us to nick a win here.

The butcher will snap him in half. We can beat this lot, Im sure of it

I think Pep is just playing mind games tbh, he will play his normal game. I'd imagine ETH won't fall for his comments whilst I was having a Kevin Keegan style rant to myself.

With regards our own set up, I think we should bring Fred in for Bruno and switch Bruno to RW instead of Antony. Bruno can still offer the creativity and will drop in to midfield without the ball offering more work rate.

I'm probably Eriksen biggest fan but would prefer Fred in there with him and Casemiro for a game like this. Gives us more defensive cover (if Fred plays like he has been recently).

Not the game for Eriksen and I don't think Martinez will be thrust in again after his lack of game time, not what I want but what I think ETH will go with:

    DDG
    Dalot Varane Shaw Malacia
    Casemiro Fred
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Martial

I think City will press us again in our own half, that's the biggest threat we face.
Maybe, this time we will also be pressing them in their own half? ETH is in fact a good tactician, so he will try to use City’s current vulnerability at the back.

There is a big Haaland factor, but rather than him, City’s starting XI is not light years ahead of ours (their bench is)

Imo if ETH is practical he'll do so. Just sit deep and hit them on the break with our fast forwards.

We only have one fast forward in Marcus (unless you aim to start Garnacho as well). Martial and Antony are Ok speed-wise, but not that fast

Even during the good run United have been on lately, they never really kill the game tactically.

They usually just go toe-to-toe with the opposition. Which is great to watch but I don’t think it is the right approach against City.

Against Arsenal I’d be more confident playing a basket ball style approach (attack vs attack) But not against City.

Yeah their bench gives me nightmares and is only reason I hoped we could get a different dimension striker in by then

My wife has attended 10 matches this season. We have won all 10. We are 2-1-2 in the 5 matches she couldn’t go. As it stands, she won’t be attending this weekend…

Other than that, I feel confident about us this weekend. Excited even.
    Give her your ticket

I would bench Eriksen and put Scott as an extra midfield body. The rest of the team picks itself. Hoping for some Ten Hag magic and masterclass. Ole used to beat that lot without fuss

We’ve been in better form than City for a long time now and there’s enough video of City struggling to break down teams for long periods of games that ETH can analyse.
    I’m stupidly confident about this
So basically you're stupid is what you are trying toi say
What's with Pep saying that he has some ridiculous ideas to beat united? Either he is going with something different or just trying to rattle united. It's on the bbc.

Either way, this game is too soon in the United leaving curve, just hoping it's not a big loss. Rather a 0-2 with a decent performance by united.

    Please win united :nervous:
He's playing mind games, taking a leaf out of SAF's book

Fecks sake, give her your ticket. Sacrifice for the greater good. If united lose, it's your fault. :wenger:

He can try what he wants. ETH is always a man with a plan too. He would have reviewed the last game against them and knew what went wrong. If we close the wide areas down then they’re screwed because that’s where most of there goals come from. It’s like a fifa tactic, pass out wide and then pass into the middle of the area.

Buzzing for this game! Had a 20 pound bet with a mate from work (city fan) on the winner and an extra 10 pound on who scores first Rashford or Haaland.

They're faster than their CBs and that's quite enough imo.

Buzzing for this one. Pep playing mind games, will play his best team.
Mind games yes probably but he's been burned by Rashford before so who knows, maybe Walker man marks him??
