Blind faith in thinking a novice like Ole would actually be a good shout for the long term and the over the top support for him. There were Ole chants even after his sack to a higher frequency than before he joined as caretaker.
Oh, sorry I misunderstood your point. I agree to a great extent although still not sure we had very much say in the original decision. Although, yes the club realised Ole's appointment fool some of the people and therefore they didn't need to pay top dollar for a top name

Joking aside we all know it’s hard to get money from the Glazers at the moment so getting in Sabitzer and Weghorst for minimal monies is Gods work surely?

I think you've been really smart in the market this window, Weghorst is a clever signing and Sabitzer has obviously been on your radar for a while. Today's move suggests there's some good succession planning going on behind the scenes. If you get him it'll be a good piece of business.

It's also being creative and open when you have less (money) to use. These are smart, astute, and logical signings. Round peg, round hole.
That would imply it's reactive rather than proactive in fairness. Sometimes that is necessary though, things change and you have to be able to adapt. If this was in the summer with a significant budget and months to plan then it would be underwhelming but given the financial constraints at the minute and the fact we needed a number 9 and a midfielder as cover they've done well to get 2 decent players that can hopefully help us stay in the top 4 and maybe win a trophy.
Being able to call around or have agents call you and sort out a deal is pretty much the bare minimum. But club has managed to get ETH a player he wants, how much credit likes of Murtough and Arnold depends on the circumstances.
The big test is whether the people behind the scenes can put together a structure that supports the manager and help him make decisions on players he is less aware of.
At the moment the manager is pulling all the strings but relying on him picking all the players to this extent isn’t sustainable.

It’s been suggested Sabitzer has been lined up since summer due to fitting the profile. Not sure how true. If so though it’s pretty good work getting in the right player when the opportunity arose.

It was reported on Sky Sports news.
Basically he was on a shortlist of players for a midfield spot in the summer and the club and Ten Hag identified him as fitting the system.
Sky suggesting it’s an opportunistic signing which has already been well explored in terms of profile and fit.
If that is the case then fair play, that is good how they've progressed with it, but even if it isn't we're short of midfielders and now we've got one more decent one so it's positive regardless of how it arose.

By the look of it there was a lot more of the latter than the former under Woodward. There’s no way he’d have been able to say no to the likes of Mendes or Raiola.
Are we sure that isn’t just an assumption based on the Ajax / Dutch contingent? Casemiro looks like a player signed by the club in support of the manager, and Sabitzer may be also, for all we know.

We would have signed a fourth if FDJ hadn't turned us down. Possibly a fifth if Brobbey hadn't decided to stay.
