Such fecking BS. Not much about LiVARpool either after the game or on Monday but feck me they whinged for the best part of the week about Bruno's goal against Citeh
I’ve said this before, we need to ignore VAR. the next decision we get through it we just sky the pen on purpose. Show our protest and our lack of belief or reliability on itSuch fecking BS. Not much about LiVARpool either after the game or on Monday but feck me they whinged for the best part of the week about Bruno's goal against Citeh
Worst of all is that this is only compounded by the fact referees decide not to make big decisions because they have VAR to fall back on.It seems they just refuse to use it now when it involves disagreeing with the referee. It should just be changed to be purely for offsides at this point cause that’s the only fecking certainty they’ll bother dealing with.
They're protecting themselves. Changing their decisions would imply they made a mistake. That's fecked upWorst of all is that this is only compounded by the fact referees decide not to make big decisions because they have VAR to fall back on.
VAR then decides not to overrule the referee and the referee’s incorrect decision is essentially justified.
I'd like to see him have a rant. He's too calm when discussing these things, and I'd like to see him go off to open some eyes!!ETH seriously needs to call out this fecking wankers
And then they make a big fuss about Garnacho waving his arm near another player immediately afterwards. Stadium announcement and all.No universe exists where that Weghorst one doesn't get given on a Liverpool player at Anfield. Not one.
Just transparently bent.

Yeah, Casemiro getting the same punishment that Fabinho got for his ankle breaker from behind at the weekend for the crime of... falling over, was another great highlight. And then they make a big fuss about Garnacho waving his arm near another player immediately afterwards. After some filthy twat on their team literally drew blood. Twice. From smacking two different United players in the face. Without a hint of a VAR referral. Going on to make at least three more fouls without even getting a talking to. While Fred and Cas get booked for their first fouls.
Ok, now I’m just ranting about the ref. My God he was so fecking bad…
That was absurd too. Although I actually think that ruining a counter by ‘accidentally’ slipping and wiping out an opposition player happens to Cas a bit too often to be a coincidence. The cunning Brazilian fecker that he is.Yeah, Casemiro getting the same punishment that Fabinho got for his ankle breaker from behind at the weekend for the crime of... falling over, was another great highlight.
It’s gone beyond clear and obvious. If that follows the rules then it’s a pen but if VAR isn’t giving such clear decisions then they obviously aren’t fouls. It’s a bit of a joke now, they have now gone to the extreme with clear & obvious. Not sure what it would take to overturn a decision now
What’s going on is VAR eating itself, in front of our eyes. There is no sweet spot between the ridiculous nit-picking that pissed us off when it first came out and the ludicrous situation we’re dealing with now. Where refs won’t make big calls in case VAR makes a fool of them, but VAR won’t correct them because we all got pissed off at the nit-picking so came up with this undefinable “clear and obvious error” concept. It’s an unsolvable problem that has made the standard of refereeing worse than it was before. And it remains unsolvable so long as VAR is a thing. It’s gone beyond clear and obvious. If that follows the rules then it’s a pen but if VAR isn’t giving such clear decisions then they obviously aren’t fouls.
At what point does a manager ask for clarification because it affects the way teams play and defend. If two refs can look at that and say no foul then defenders must be allowed a lot more leeway to get physical with challenges in the box. If not then what is going on?
It feels like they are purposefully only using VAR for offside decisions now and nothing else, but the referees are still relying on VAR to bail them out on big decisions that the referee is too scared to make. What’s going on is VAR eating itself, in front of our eyes. If they’re going to keep it then it should be used for offsides only. Would they rather the EPL just scraps it?! Don’t think UEFA would even allow that would they?
Tonight was the equivalent of rugby's video referee seeing a try scored and deciding it wasn't. That's what really pisses me off. Lots of decisions are missed in a game of rugby but for the most part the vital and clear ones are always called. If they think a try is scored they call to look at it, if they think a high tackle has happened they call to look at it. In rugby they are used to help the ref, understanding he can't see everything. Its so simple to use VAR like that but instead they have fecked it. They are using it as a tool to defend the ref instead of helping them. There's no other explanation. It’s gone beyond clear and obvious. If that follows the rules then it’s a pen but if VAR isn’t giving such clear decisions then they obviously aren’t fouls.

We have a technological system governed not by actual laws of the game, but by "feelings" and "guess work"... It's absurd. The ‘clear and obvious’ thing is a travesty now. As you say, VAR should just tell the referee ‘actually you got it wrong’. Especially with multiple angles and replays availableRather then ‘clear & obvious’ can’t VAR just look for…you know…the right decision? Absolutely ridiculous levels of incompetence. The fact they refuse to let us hear the conversations between VAR & the ref tells you everything you need to know.
I find it funny. When they look at a goal and decide, yeap, thats a goal, no problem there. Takes very little time. What still irks me is when we had a goal ruled out against Spurs when the tip of McTominay's finger glanced the side of Son's face in the build up when Son tried to pressure him. Son went down feigning injury like the sack of shit he is. VAR was looking for the slightest of contact to find fault in a goal.
I agree. It was blatantJust finished watching the game. And this will get glossed over because it was so comfortable but HOW IN THE HOLY feck was that challenge on Weghorst not a penalty?
Clearly obvious in real time. Clearly obvious by the defender’s reaction. Should have been clearly obvious a VAR review.
that is a cast iron penalty every day of the week and twice on sundays.
We need to start calling this shit out it is unacceptable
I don't think so, but even if he does it doesn't matter, he doesn't win the ball and he full on kicks Weghorst. It's a stonewall pen.Does the defender not get a slight toe on the ball?
Even if he did, if you tackle someone by getting a tiny touch on the ball and fecking smashing them in the shin at the same time it’s an obvious foul.Does the defender not get a slight toe on the ball?
Yea, the commentary on that incident was very strange. As it was for a couple of others.Anyone else think we were also denied another obvious penalty in the first half? Williams blatantly shoved Garnacho to the ground. For some weird reason the SS commentary team seemed to think it was a shoulder to shoulder challenge. But it was a straight arm shove. You can’t do that. It should have been a penalty.
When the ref chose to talk to - and not book - Williams for cynically dragging Garnacho back when he was trying to counter he gave up any last hint of impartiality. Shortly before booking Casemiro for slipping over.Yea, the commentary on that incident was very strange. As it was for a couple of others.
It wasn't a case of easing a player off the ball, but the extended arm pushing the player.
We don't seem to be getting these decisions at the moment.
that and the mctominay one at palace have both been ignored.Nah garnacho it wasn’t a penalty but Weghorst was. It was so blatantly obvious both in real time and on the replay that serous questions must be asked.
Maybe we are doing the right thing and doing it in closed channels out of the public eye but anyone who says the Weghorst “challenge “ is not a penalty is a moron
