Ill see it when I believe it. Still feel we dont have much interest , specially at the inflated valuations of around 6-7bn

Think there will be more interest out of Asia and middle East in general as well. Not just Qatar.

They're right to be confident. The Glazers are going to love that.

We don't need oil money to compete but it's the quickest path to clearing the debt those leeches saddled us with.

United with oil money and genuine income is scary but I can’t see myself being a fan if this is true
I didn't watch the WC because of this but I almost haven't missed a United match since 86 so feck me it will be tough.

Knew it would likely come to this. Not sure how to feel.
I’m with you. The links and the probability of buying the likes of Mbappe would be exciting but having that year after year would just dilute the excitement.
As long as we can still buy the Bruno’s, develop Rashford and Garnacho so reach a happy medium I might stay on board. But if Mainoo is playing for Spurs while we are fecking about with the Enzo Fernandez of this world it would kill the club in my eyes

It would literally be game over for the rest of the league

This has been mentioned a few times in this thread, if we started winning trophies again we will be able to sign players without any external investment. But we do need investment to improve the facilities.

Our financial records and concerns with FFP actually suggests maybe we do, at least for next season. Glazers really messed up our financials, hence why we were broke in Jan and why they're finally looking to sell. Long term obviously our natural revenue gives us a big advantage over other oil clubs like Newcastle.

If it's an individual it's honestly no more immoral than any American owner
It’s the transfer cheat code more than anything. What makes building a side and the excitement of getting it right would be gone. I put myself in Chelsea fans shoes, how exited were they really about Enzo Fernandez and spending 130m on 11:59 on deadline day? Everybody seemed pretty burned out to me. Imagine that year after year

If we do get bought up by an oil billionaire I hope we continue to spend within our means and don't pull a Chelsea. I'll just be happy to see us debt free at last.
I mean the difference is "our means" is being able to spend as much as anyone in the world if the club is freed of the debt/leeches. It's like saying "I hope Real Madrid continue to spend within their means"

Rest of football. There would literally be no rule in place that could curb out spending and even it out. Imagine how huge we would be with galaticos while winning on top of who we are . The sponsors alone would be scary

So David Beckham you'd think would definitely be the "front man" of this bid, considering Qatar already had him on the payroll.

Yep lads, I think these are our new owners.

Sigh. We shouldn't need oil money to compete. I guess the hope is that we wouldn't be state owned but purely an investment firm/random United fan with a lot of money.... Right? We'll see. Ratcliffe would be ideal IMO. Qatar is too shady morally and I'd rather steer clear.

0 chance i believe it is not state owned though.
I’m with you, pretty much word for word.

This is shite and I hope it doesn’t happen. It would essentially be handing us a cheat code, and that cheat code also happens to be a tyrannical human rights abusing oil empire.

Just popped in to see what condition my United were in and everyone seems convinced this Qatar bid is real.

Why?

that seems impossible

they’ll want to invest in the stadium and team for sure

I don't really understand this viewpoint. So you would just stop watching/supporting football altogether? Or just United? And it's because the club would finally not be flawed with debt/garbage infrastructure and owners?

The source is a decent one and Qatar has been rumoured for a while by a lot of reputable journalists

So curiously who else do you think is able to meet the Glazers valuation as well as being willing to invest heavily into both clearing the debt and infrastructure that we so badly need?

People have rioted/bitched/revolted against the Glazers for years (and rightly so, they are parasites), but now that the actual prospect of new ownership is on the table it seems like no one wants it. Bizarre to me

If the football club was ran properly then we wouldn't need to worrying who the owners are. The fact that the debt was never cleared hamstrings the operation. We need investment in the stadium, probably a new one and Carrington re done. Now, that wont happen without deep pockets as without it we will suffer on the pitch. Its the world of finance. Do you check who owns your hotel , aircraft you fly on, gas in your hob, mobile phone supplier, the car you drive. Unfortunately the source of the money you worry about in interlaced into our society and it isn't going away. i just hope the new owner is actually a Man Utd fan as that would do me.
