Anyone with any idea how the City/Newcastle/ PSG/ Chelsea sales started? I know obviously the whole abramovich being forced to sell but is there anything we can take from how the Raine group acted for Abramovich that can be seen in our sale? or how the Saudis, Abu Dhabi’s and Qataris made their moves for those clubs? Anything that can give us a insight into how this could possibly play out?

Personally I have mixed feelings about that, on one hand, being a fan that went to the games was something special but that was virtually all you got, aside from odd highlights on TV , today I can see every game United play live or on demand and it costs me less for a season than it would to go to a game

If you want to take it to the extreme, then yes, we could believe all journalists, and we would have bought 500 players.
However, I'm keeping it level headed and actual. Journalists are passed on information. They the relay this information to the public. You have your top journalists who will not just report speculation. They will verify the story they have been given, and they will report. This is why a tired system of journalists has come about. The top tired journalists had claimed the interest of the Qataris. Yet still people refused to believe this. And the same story is confirmed by Bloomberg, and now it's widely accepted it's true.

Of course they matter. They are the ones cheering the team on home and away, dedicating their time and money to creating an atmosphere to help us be successful. When we lose, they still support the team and will be there next game to go again.
It's still a good timeline for the sale. The summer will be spent getting the players the club have been looking at and maybe a few surprises. I don't think any plans for infrastructure changes will take place until the following summer anyway. No ones going to come in and start making sweeping changes on day one.

I don't mind Qatari ownership so long as they don't behave like Boehly or Abu Dhabi. No player power either. It has to be the manager in the driving seat always leading the club in the most organic way possible.

When it comes to club ownership it's not really a question of who is the most desirable, but who is the least objectionable. You don't really achieve the level of wealth that affords you such opportunities by being a good person. So no matter who buys the club, they're more than likely going to be a villian.
That being said, it'd be pretty disappointing if the club were purchased by the Qataris or the KSA. Being owned by greedy capitalist pigs is one thing, that comes with the territory of owning a sports franchise, but being owned by a state whose identity goes hand in hand with corruption, abhorrent treatment of the LGBT community, and the subjugation of women introduces a level of shame and moral failing to Manchester United.

I didn't say they don't matter, I said they don't matter as much as they used to, the days of the majority of fans going to all the home games and as many way games as they could are gone, when I used to go it was a way of life, nowadays it's mostly an experience, the owners don't care who it is as long as someone pays for the seat
