Five points off the top means we're in a race. If we just continue to win our games, we're gonna get even closer.

I'm confident we at least have a good chance at finishing second.

We need one more weekend of results going our way and we will definitely be right in this and a genuine three horse race. Right now it’s a two and a half horse race.

They still a game in hand, so we are not in the mix right now.
Next 5 games are:
Leicester
Liverpool
Southampton
Brighton
Newcastle (1.4.2023)

Lets talk about our title chances in April, we would need 13 or 15 Points to be in the mix!

Where's the guy who was on here just a couple of weeks ago saying that he couldn't see where Arsenal would be dropping points? Must be his first season following football.

As for the title race, it's unfortunately between two horses. Between the four competitions we're still in, we'll be stretched too thin to truly challenge for the league.

Need martial back fit and firing to have a chance. Besides Rashford there isn’t a consistent goal scorer in the squad. Still great to be in this position from were we were last year

Looks like he’s taking the Europa League seriously so that’s that. We’re happy with top four this season. So be it.

Who were you expecting him to take? The women's team?

It would be awesome if Martial, Martinez, Antony and Sabitzar could all start on Sunday against Leicester. These 4 haven’t travelled and would be fresh.

Bit daft. If we end up with a chance of the title nice, but you’re living in a bizarre world if you thought this manager was going to just throw the EL away.
No, it’s fine. He’s made his choice. In the context of this thread I’m just not going to entertain the idea of us being in a title race and closing a five-point gap on City when we’ve already seen against Palace and Leeds that the squad can’t manage the kind of form required while playing twice every week.

No team would win the league with WW as their main #9. If he thinks we can win the league and decides to drop the EL for the league tbh I'd seriously doubt his rationality. Beating Barcelona and we'd have a real chance for an European silverware Europa League or not.

We’ve been playing twice a week from near enough week one?

ETH wants titles and to win titles, you have to start at some point and you have to compete. First step would be a win against Newcastle, which will be a hard fight. The FA Cup and especially the EL would be hard work. You have to take a competition seriously to win against teams like Barca, Ajax, Leverkusen, Juve, Arsenal, PSV, Sevillia, Roma. Even the smaller teams could hurt you, if not taken seriously.

That ridiculous decision... It was 100x times more legit pen that what Arsenal got last night
Refs have been terrified to give us decisions since the City game.

If Utd knock Barcelona out, the rest are not anything special. Arsenal will be playing their reserves, like they have done so for most of this EL.

With top 4 looking like a realistic goal, I'd have no issue with bowing out of the EL early. Of course, I'd love to win it, and a European trophy is nothing to be sniffed at, but we're 5 points off the top with 15 games to go, already in 1 cup final, and I think 4 games from reaching the FA cup final. I'd take that over a deep run in the EL. Our season has been gruelling and I'd hate for us to go from 4 trophies to 1 in the space of a few games.

Even though 5 points off the top with 15 to play is overly ambitious, I do believe it'll be interesting to see how far from the top we are in May and a great launchpad to a title tilt next season.

We lost 8 points in 3 games in 2012. 15 games is a lot. Keep the faith.

We just need to go game by game. We keep getting favourable draws in the cup and we are scrapping points in the league still. These games tonight and next Thurs will probably be the toughest all season for us so we will do well to get through.

We need 15 points out of the next 5 games to be in the title race. It will be very tough to get that with Barcelona and League Cup final as well in between the next 5 games.

I will start dreaming or not after the next 5 games.

2 days later...

Yes I bet he would’ve loved to have had the City game three days before the game against us just like we had to have a rescheduled game crammed in there before playing them.

Need a win tomorrow! Puts pressure on the 2 above us. We’ll have a game in hand after next week as we play the final.

I did not expect City to drop points today. Kudos to Nottingham Forest.

I forgot Arsenal had a game in hand too.
