Most goal contributions in the top 5 leagues since the World Cup. He's the most in form player on the planet right now.

He can’t be that far behind Haaland in all comps now?
Even if he’s within touching distance it’s fecking ridiculous

He’s 8 behind. But he’s caught up around 6 since the World Cup.

12 behind in league goals.

Pay that man his money.
Fans argued that players should earn a contract, this man has earned his.

That’s actually insane. Haaland was supposed to score 60 goals this season etc etc.
To be 8 behind a striker who only scores goals and bring so much more to the game speaks to where Rashford is at

Yeah, Haaland started at around 2 per game pace in the PL. He’s now down to 26 in 23 so he’s actually scored like 8 in his last 12 games. Obviously still really good but not quite as unstoppable.

Is he a better player now, are we using him better, or is it simply a case of having confidence? Maybe being largely snubbed at the WC was a wake up call?

He’s obviously stepped it up a level, however he was always capable of amazing things on his day. Not to forget how wildly inconsistent and ineffective he could be at times. He was previously a scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer, he seems to be both right now.
The level was always there. Our big big money signings have held him back.

The first few pages are a great read and a perfect example of how short-sighted and “rash” so many are. All from less than 12 months ago:

Sell please
Sell, for the clubs sake and his.
Get rid.

His PR team is linking him with Barca and Liverpool today. The bloke is shameless.
We almost never sell players at the right time, we hold on to them and hand them a new contract to "protect their value" but never actually see any of that potential value. Now is the right time to sell Rashford and reinvest in to the team with a new manager
If we give him a new contract I might actually give up.
Sell to Newcastle, Arsenal, or whoever willing to pay for him. I'd accept 25m-30m and move on. And sign Raphinha for the RW.
It kills me to concede the point, but I was so wrong about Marcus Rashford. There may still be a decent footballer in his boots but whatever the explanation is -- and I'm convinced he has not fully recovered from his back injury and the surgery meant to address is -- he's been poor for two seasons now. It's time to move him on and if he flourishes for Newcastle or Palace, so be it. No chance he goes to an elite club now.
We need to be more ruthless and let him go, he's a shadow of the up and coming star he was.
This shouldn't even be a question, sell him right after the end of the season.
Sell him the first one out of the door in summer.
Rashford has been poor for nearly two years now but his recent form isn't just poor it's like watching an under 11s player against adults. There's poor and then there's Rashford's form over the last 6 months. He's lost the ability to control the ball, pass the ball or make any kind of good decision. Basically he runs at opposition players and gives it away. This isn't a recent thing for him, if we have any interest at £40-£50 million we should be selling regardless of who the new gaffer is.
We should sell him but I’m not sure who would buy him on the last two years of form/injuries

Maybe Newcastle?
Sell.
We need new blood he is one of this flop group.
He takes minimum wage and donates the rest to child poverty.
Sell him. The circus would never end otherwise. Let some other club deal with it.
Sell. Judging purely on football criteria and age, he is not good enough to play as a highly paid starter for a side with ambitions to win big prizes.
Why even debate… SELL FULL STOP
Sell!!
if he didn’t have pace he would a championship player at best

I think he's just returned to fitness / form. He was very good pre Euros. A lot of English players, e.g. Shaw and Maguire for us, we're good in that long season, but then with no post season break they were poor last season.

That combined with playing with better players and a better coach than Ole is getting him more goals.

Indeed. We're a fickle bunch.

Heck of an achievement from Bruno to already make me resent him more as captain than Antonio Valencia. Completely hapless as a leader for any team.

Just so you know I defended him here for two years, he didn't do himself any favours. Hindsight and all that. No one saw this coming.

No-one saw Rashford scoring 20-odd goals a season again? Many of us did. He had done it twice before. Once with pens and once without.

I’m not sure myself whether he is actually going to become a world class player for years to come, but he doesn’t have to justify the club giving him time again to come good. Ditto with someone like Sancho.

I think we should offer him a new contract now. He's been pretty decent for a few months, and he probably deserves a new contract.

Some peoples views on this are mad. Hes in insane form but he looked like a £10m player last season. Giving a player with a very recent dramatic dip in form whatever he wants is insane. Give him a good base contract that is heavily performance incentivised. Pay him £200k base rising to whatever you want but having someone on a £400k/week contract who might go though another awful phase doesn't make any business sense.

He is on the way to go way past the 20 goals. No one saw this form from him.

Southgate is a joke. You can guarantee he'd be part of the 85%. Should be fired for benching England's top scorer and THE in form player in world football right now. Pathetic charlatan of a manager.

He didn’t have to score anywhere near this frequency/volume of goals to be worth retaining at the club though. People now pretending that this is the only way Rashford could justify his future is a fallacy.

I'm also an 85er and it's never felt so good to be wrong.

I will say if he hadn't scored that first goal, not passing to Garnacho for the tap in would have been criminal.

Many stood by him for years because they had seen what he could do. But he didn't even look interested by the end of last season. The guy was on 200k so what was he worth in that form. Certainly not 300k so it's just what it was. Of course he doesn't need to be hitting 30+ every year to be worth a new contract but he needed to look like he wanted to be here. Like I said no one saw this form coming.

He's young enough so he should get a new contract but with reasonable conditions. Far away from 400k/month.

When Auba had the streak going at Arse, fans pressured the board into giving him a new fat contract, same happened with Salah. I wonder what happened afterwards. ;)

He was literally in this goal scoring form back in 19-20 when he broke his back, he's always had this in him,

Happy to have never doubted you ya beauty :D

Even after last season, was hard for me to write him off as a 23/24 year old coming off an injury knackered year where he played nonstop through pain.

He had had 2 20 goal campaigns prior and literally everyone in the team was disjointed and performing poorly last season. If I wasn't going to write off the likes of Shaw and Bruno,I wasn't going to write off our local lad.

He deserved more grace and understanding than he was showed by large segments of the fanbase who for some reason started to use his off-pitch charitable work as a stick to beat him with and imply that he was some sort of self-centered PR driven fraud :houllier:

85% of TheCaf wanting to sell Rashford tells you all you need to know about how much football knowledge people around here actually have...
Ok fair point, but I remember (even though I cringe as I do so) recommending we get rid of him - not because a lack of ability but because he just didn’t look interested anymore. It was his attitude. I now believe he was in fact undergoing a profound clinical depression . It’s so great to see him smiling again and, of course, scoring goals.

We need Rashford, not just because he is a fantastic player but because he is one of ours. Players that comes through our academy and have what it takes to break through at the highest level we should never let go. That is what differs United from a club like Chelsea, who sold Abraham and most likely will offload Mount this summer.

He is playing like one of the best in the world currently and most probably about to enter his prime years unlike Auba and Salah .

When you add in the fact that his contract only has a year left after this season his agent wouldn't be doing his job properly if he fails to negotiate a contract closer to 400k a week let alone 400k a month as you are suggesting that would simply be malpractice.
