Newbies 15/16 FPL Champion.
Similar to the Pogba thread. If it was your choice should we renew his 250k pw contract or look to sell?
A lot of fans seem split it would be interesting to see a poll added by a mod.

I would sell at this point and would be strongly against a new contract of any form.

The fact that Utd haven‘t exactly rushed to the table to tie him down with 15 months to go on his current deal makes me think they’re not too keen either, if you judge it by press releases.

Are fans split? Surely it’s almost universally sell. At least it should be. We need to stop rewarding mediocrity.

Definitely 100% sell. We need to move on. Strengthen the CM at all costs before we worry about wingers/wide forwards who have one good game in 10.

Plus, not the lads fault really but his wages are absolutely insane. We have to do something about our wage structure across the board.

Let the new manager decide, but if it was up to me, I'd sell him on to help fund Haaland.

Get rid.

His PR team is linking him with Barca and Liverpool today. The bloke is shameless.

Sell please. No sign whatever that he's at all interested in playing for us now. Both parties might benefit from a permanent break.

God yes.

I'm hoping the end of the Woodward/Disneyland era will bring the end of unwarranted and frankly contract renewals.

We almost never sell players at the right time, we hold on to them and hand them a new contract to "protect their value" but never actually see any of that potential value. Now is the right time to sell Rashford and reinvest in to the team with a new manager

Ralf last week said along the lines if Rashford wants to go, he can. Do you think he has the authority/backing with a statement like that?

Sell. Currently the most useless player at the club.

Sell to Newcastle, Arsenal, or whoever willing to pay for him. I'd accept 25m-30m and move on. And sign Raphinha for the RW.

It kills me to concede the point, but I was so wrong about Marcus Rashford. There may still be a decent footballer in his boots but whatever the explanation is -- and I'm convinced he has not fully recovered from his back injury and the surgery meant to address is -- he's been poor for two seasons now. It's time to move him on and if he flourishes for Newcastle or Palace, so be it. No chance he goes to an elite club now.

If we get an offer that blows our socks off we should sell. Ideally with a full preseason and some of the problem children gone Marcus could return to form. If he doesnt we're not getting much for him anyway

I’d say keep him were he not on such high wages. Still think a summer break, new manager, and better flowing team, he could get back to his old self. I find it hard to accept his level could permanently drop so much.

Unfortunately we'll tie him for big wages. While the wages can definitely be debatable , we simple do not have the resources to go out and buy a replacement for him considering the other extremely important areas we have to fill in.

Raphinha will not only be on multiple clubs radars , he will be expensive as well unless Leeds are relegated.

I would shelf any contract talks. If a silly money offer comes (100M nonsense), we sell. If not, we trigger his extension and refuse to negotiate till start of next year, if he finds form.

You can't justify paying a £50k a week player (and that's being fecking generous) £200k+ a week.

Not unless you want to be a joke club.

How the hell do we retain players like Sancho or Bruno, or sign new talents on manageable wages, if Rashford is sat earning more than them?

He earns 200k? That's how much Harry Kane earns.

United really are one of the worst run clubs!

United fans are a sentimental bunch. The local match going fans love academy lads. They will never want to sell Rashford.

I have heard some of them say they wouldn't even exchange him for Mbappe because he gets the club and breathes United, United DNA etc.

If we get an offer that blows our socks off we should sell. Ideally with a full preseason and some of the problem children gone Marcus could return to form. If he doesnt we're not getting much for him anyway

Some of the problem children?? We're talking about a fully grown man here. That should never be the reason for his awful form.

If that's the reason then he is a "problem child" too.

United need to be ruthless and act like a big club.

Let the new manager decide, but if it was up to me, I'd sell him on to help fund Haaland.

Haaland ain't coming pal.

For that to happen, it'll take United a few years so that they can challenge at the big table again. Then the club can try.

I think there is. Good chance that if we brought in a good coach who could work with Rashford for a few years the we would see a big improvement in the player.

He is never going to be the kind of player he could of been if had if we had decent coaches at the club for the past 5 years, but he could be a solid squad player.

Problem is Rashford is not going to accept solid squad player wages, He also currently even playing at decent squad player level, so we would be betting on him improving which isn’t a given.

So I don’t think we have a choice other than to sell if an offer comes in.

Let the new manager decide
Yep.

Well, I mean sell him if the new manager doesn't want him. I don't think a new manager is really in a position to say we should offer him a new contract but they can say they'd like to have a look at him and then we can offer a contract later if he plays like someone who should get one.

Sell

But to be honest the way im feeling at the moment id sell 90% of the squad

Do we have the possibility to extend by a year? I’d do that this summer. If he’s still shite under the new manager, I’d get rid in summer 2023.

I absolutely wouldn’t give him a new contract any time soon.

This shouldn't even be a question, sell him right after the end of the season.

Sell.
At this age he should have fulfilled the potential we thought he had and not be putting in consistently poor performances week after week.

Let the new manager decide
No. Contract extensions should not be decided by a new manager.

They will err on the side of caution and say Yes, extend. And then 6 months down the line, if he doesn't want him, we are stuck.

Id give him one last chance under the next manager.

Doing himself no favours though with his off the pitch exploits. He should really just concentrate on his football.
