Didn't think he had much to do tbh. Swept one, punched one, made a save from asm, one ball to rashford over the top. I just thought it was standard.

No one player stood out, the team defended well together as a unit. Thought we were so well organised
Agreed on all that.

The post about him and Wembley before the match, jfc. I shouldn't open this thread.

Another game, another crucial save, even could've had a nice assist. Spanish Roy Carroll according to the CAF though.

Good game. Good saves, also got two crosses. Save on Saint-Maximin was game defining. That low cross he grabbed was nice. Almost got an assist with ball over the top. Good game.

I won't comment on positioning, I'm not an expert.

The only point I will argue is he hardly makes any saves look "easy" what I don't think is a particularly good thing for a keeper.
You don't have to be, surely. If De Gea moves to the left during a header, and the header goes in the left top corner and he saves it "spectacularly" seemingly unnecessarily so, and you might see your own point here, but his positioning is what makes those saves look 'easy' to you in the first place. He makes a lot of reaction saves just above his head or within his reach, and it might look easy because of positioning himself correctly.

Replace DeGea chaps are quiet today.
Not really. As usual, De Gea was terrible with his distribution.

Luckily, that didn't cost us any goals. But he sent Dalot, Rashford and Shaw in dangerous situations because he can't execute diagonal balls like a modern keeper.

Saving two shots and claiming a low cross is way less than what we should expect from the world's best paid goalkeeper.

If I spent as much time defending De Gea as you I'd also choose to ignore the statistics

Besides, the fact he's an average shot stopper now isn't even top 3 reasons why he should be replaced as a priority. The lack of ball playing, sweeping and ability to deal with crosses see to that.
I think it is time you judge him by his performances, not by stats that do not have enough data points to mean anything conclusive.

He was very good three games in a row now, today he way near perfect. Feck the stats.

Watch Ederson and Ramsdale play in players under pressure, with much more risk than David did today. Are they ‚lucky‘?

The most clean sheets has gone unrecognised apparently.
In the De Gea era, it is quite remarkable

Thought he was solid as feck for us today. Very good performance. Legend of the club and people will miss him dearly when he's gone.
Couldn’t have said it better. Was just on his wiki page, reminded me. 12 seasons now. he is a legend

He wasn’t the best keeper on the field today. His distribution was shocking again as usual. But we won the trophy so hooray! Onto the next one

Considering how many times he had teams that were not so good in front of him, surpassing the old clean sheet record is already a very special feat to his career. Twelve years, man! Time really flies by quickly.

Oh do one he was great.
What did he do that made him ‘great’. Did he make outstanding saves that most keepers can’t make? No…was his passing great? Definitely not. Not a single high claim. He did have one sweep fair enough

forgot about the punch straight to the Newcastle player

He had good saves, grabbed crosses and didn‘t pass it to the opposition. Almost got an assist with a long pass. That‘s good enough for me.

Did you expect him to clear a cross with a bicycle kick?

This is what he expected:

Wembley De Gea tomorrow, usually means we have a massive error imminent (all 3 goals in the 2020 FA Cup semi final, Puncheon goal FA Cup Final, City in community shield) and probably many more
And that's what he saw as well! It's sad, United will never win a trophy with a keeper worse than Karius :(

Single-handedly responsible for the shambolic performance and defeat today. An average keeper would whip out 0.09 more xgchain and piss out 0.82 more psxg.

When he came out of the box to sweep, he did not score or even assist. His punch was the reason the the team lost all confidence. Bruno had a PTSD flashback to his "distribution" and couldn't square to Sancho. The save from the looping header was an inexcusable piece of inelegant keeping, the average PL shot-stopper would definitely have scorpion kicked it. If he had been replaced by Jose Sa, this game would have been finished yesterday and would have actually been the CL Final.
Can't believe a few bit at this

Gets the record in a final, what a player he has been for this club. He will go down as a legend in my eyes.

Great player! Now that the team is functioning right, we can win a lot of trophies with him.

Nonsense. I think we can upgrade on Dave but he was fantastic today.
Almost got an assist to. So clearly his distribution wasn't shocking.

The other keeper flapped at both goals and while the 1st is hard to save, all he needed to do for the 2nd was standing up instead of dropping on his rump, so...
