Can't wait for this to be over to be honest. The endless bollocks debate is doing my nut in. I come into this thread hoping for some kind of factual developments being reported and discussed. Instead the same old bickering and bullshit.
I apologise for my part in all of that.

Totally agree. But the thing is, the next debate will start. Whatever that maybe. So, we're never going to be too far away from the next piece of drama.

Yeah same. Whenever I see this thread bumped and there are a few more pages tacked on I assume that there's been an interesting new development. Alas, it's the same old arguments being rehashed over and over again. I can't wait for this to be over either. Qatar or JR, we'll be better off with either of them than with the Glazers.

People love talking about Nice but ignore the plight of Malaga which is curious to me
This is a good observation, so I looked into it. They are owned by Sheik Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Ahmed Al Thani, a Qatari businessman. He is from the Qatari ruling family and a distant relative of Qatar's previous ruler Sheikh Hamad.
He signed Ruud Van Nistelrooy amongst others and took them to the CL, but since then they have been on a perpetual decline and got relegated to Segunda División after 10 successive seasons in La Liga. In his time in charge the club have also served a European ban from

Then there is this little pearl from wiki ;
In early 2020, reports emerged that club owner Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani and his family who owe Málaga €7.3m in loans and credit lines, were buying out shares from smaller shareholders to be directed to their personal expenses and business interests, yet up to February 2022 no evidence has proven any misconduct to allow the courts to rule that a criminal case is justified. In August 2020, the court appointed administrator issued a statement that he would lay off the entire first-team squad to save the club from oblivion
So I looked into this too and it seems Al Thani is currently under investigation. Charges levied against al-Thani and his family members alleged that they used club funds to purchase and sell high-end vehicles, the acquisition of real estate, and other private investments, according to Marca.
Al Thani and his sons currently owe the club €10m and the club are 21 in the 2nd tier of Spanish football. Much worse record than Nice under INEOS.

So it seems all would not necessarily be rosy under Qatari ownership. There is literally nothing we know about Sheikh Jassim, we don’t know who is funding the bid, whether it’s state or not, whether they have honourable intentions or not, what profit they expect from the club etc… it’s sketchy as feck and has huge potential to go totally tits up, even more so than Nice. We simply don’t know.

Do you really wanna have the same dog shit debate every second day?

Nice have been in the CL once in their history, and in the European cup twice in the 1950’s. They are a pretty small French club, dwarfed by the likes Marseille, Monaco, Lyon.

Their one CL qualification in 2017 started going pear shaped instantly, finishing 8th and 7th with the CL campaign going to 2 losses, 2 draws and 0 wins.

Making them a regular CL team in a time where money can’t be spent as freely as PSG did will take some smart moves. Until they hired Florent Ghisolfi this past October, I don’t think they had made many really good ones, but this one looks excellent and the next few transfer windows with him running the club are very interesting.

But feck me, we’ve spoken about the above in length a billion fecking times now man.
They have been in charge of Nice for about 4 years. Nothing but failure. Claiming 5th, 9th, 5th and now 7th is not worse than winning the actual thing is laughable. I don't want donkeys owning the club, donkeys that know nothing about football. Every Nice fan you bump into say the same thing "they don't understand football".

The difference is Malaga is just like City with the entire thing being propped up by private wealth. If City’s owners decided they’re done, the club will cease to exist as it is today. United actually have a foundation that can withstand changes in ownership, unless of course the owners take what they want and rot the foundation.

No-one has claimed anything of the sort.

But ffp has changed the landscape completely, as you say, they’ve only been in charge for four years and unlike in the early years for PSG, they can’t outspend the rest of the league and they can’t take the complete piss out of ffp.
They’ll need to get things right and it could take time.

And stop pretending you regularly bump into Nice fans man.
I traveled for 7 years around the World from 2003-2010 and I lived in the French alps in 2017, I’ve never met a Nice fan, but you bump into them on the reg?

I bump into them, because I have cousins who support Nice. How ignorant and egoistic it is to use yourself as an example .

Feck sake, is this thread for news and updates or the same, tired old bullshit debate? None of us will ever agree or back down on our opinions of a ‘good’ owner.

What we can all agree on is that we need the Glazers gone right fecking now.

You don’t exactly “bump” into your cousins do you. Maybe next time, “my cousins are Nice fans” and they say xxxxxxx
“Every Nice fan you bump into” suddenly becomes, one group of the same family share a similar view when I talk to them about Nice.
Weird you’re never mentioned them in 10 years on here mind, even weirder that you’ve only listed articles previously when talking about Nice fans view on INEOS but completely failed to mention you have family that are Nice fans!!

I had read on Twitter that Bank of America had been buying up shares which are on the market. Not too sure how true that is.

Can anyone confirm if they have seen this happening?

Yeah you know what I am actually close to reaching that point of being just give me either of those two, let's face it both of them will actually treat the club with respect

Most probably don't even know that Malaga have been owned by a member of the Qatari Al Thani royal family for over a decade.

Or, there's so much shit and bile being posted by those against that some feel the need to (try and) put them right.
If by putting them right you mean defending Qatar's honour, everything related to their potential bid, how it's so much better than any other bid despite limited information and now how they've actually been really great owners at PSG.

Then yeah that's exactly what's happening, it's called sportswashing mate.

Yeah. My preference is for Qatar, but failing that, it's quite clear JR has infinitely more resources than the Glazers and will likely run the club in a more sensible manner that they did owing to being a better businessman overall (And because it would be difficult to run the club worse than they did) so whatever we get, I hope we get it in a manner timely enough that the club can plan for the summer properly, and more importantly so that these endless debates can be over with.

Why would I bring it up . I have friends and family in Qatar too, did not bring that up either when I was discussing Qatar. Why are you so tense in your discussions? I noticed you not letting any post go by before you reply to it. Take it easy mate.

You’d bring it up because it’s relevant?

As for “tense”, not sure you’re the guy to lecture there fella…

That is not what I was asking. I asked are they going to boycott the WC?
What wide range of things knocking Qatar for that the USA have not done 100k times worse? Invading countries? bombing children in their beds?
I quite frankly care little if some fans wanna get into bed with state ownership, each to their own, but there’s no need to make out that INEOS run Nice akin to how Everton is run or how the Qatari owners run Malaga in order to rubbish their bid and defend why a poster is backing the Qatari bid.
Both are much better option than the Glazers, both are much much richer than the Glazers.

If the investment bank you hire to advise your acquisition front-runs your acquisition... then they can neither give you good advice (not that I rate investment banks highly when it comes to giving advice) nor are they working on your behalf. I don't work in IB specifically, but I'd imagine that it's covered in the contract between the investor and the bank that they can't do that kind of crap.

US investment banks aren't really in the business of holding equity positions in companies anymore, except for market-making/facilitation offering purposes. Even if you see one listed as a page 1 holder of a company, it's likely that it's a swap position that they hold on behalf of a client (see Archegos issue ~2 years ago).

Aye, would just be great to have owners that can afford the bloody club they are buying, which clearly these two can.
The leveraged buy-out has been like carrying around a ball and chain which would’ve been hard enough without Abramovich and Abu Dhabi swinging their dicks.

Getting rid of the Glazers will be our biggest trophy this season. For me even bigger than winning the PL this season. If I was asked at the beginning of the season would I sacrifice winning the league for the sake of getting rid of the parasites, I would have done it every time.

Didn’t you know? PSG are the greatest club in football (never to win the champions league)
Arsenal, Atheltico Madrid would disagree. PSG has only been around since the 70’s haven’t they?

New York Cosmos of France. Without a sugar daddy they are absolutely useless. Come to think of it they are useless even with one

I haven’t heard it. If it’s true, it can be confirmed pretty soon, due to the shareholding disclosure requirements. Not sure what’s the exact threshold, probably 5% or something like that will require them disclose their holdings within two weeks I think.

So United and PSG both need a cm and both are in for the same player (hypothetical).

Who can out bid the other and give the better contract - all down to Qatari elite? (The higher ups)

It depends who can afford who and what the will of the player is.

Because Ratcliffe isn't hiding the fact he already owns a club.
But what has Ratcliffe or INEOS have to do with the CL? Its like writing an article about CL winners and then stick a photo of a Spurs player to it.
