Nice one Luke!

Good news, but how have we acted swiftly here and players like De Gea and Rashford who are expiring this summer haven’t been sorted already?!
Shaw was probably more straightforward. Playing well so the club/ETH would want to keep, and at the same time his wages probably weren't a point of contention.

With Rashford I imagine the club and him are haggling over wages.

DDG the club are probably trying to make a decision on if they want him to continue being first choice here, or even being here at all, and how his wages or a new contract would reflect that.

Rashford's option was triggered in December, exactly the same as Shaw.

There is no particular rush with De Gea given that he is clearly in for a significant decrease in wages and there don't appear to be any other suitors.

De Gea is probably (and rightfully) being offered significantly less wages than what he's currently on, which will obviously make it a bit more difficult to agree. And honestly, I do wonder if there's a chance ETH doesn't actually want to keep him but doesn't want to cause a drop in confidence so the club is deliberately being very slow with how they are negotiating.

Rashford has another year left.
Because they don't expire this summer.
D’oh! I’ve been undone by the +1 option. :annoyed:

Not sure, I’ve seen it reported that Erik is happy to keep him so all funds can be funnelled into a top striker this summer. Would make sense if they can come to an agreement.

It's quite crazy that he's only 27 and basically in the midst/entering the point of most players peak.

Good news. Just don’t revert to last seasons form, ever.

No issue with this considering how well has also played at centre half recently and the fact hes 3 years younger than I thought he was.

As long as he’s fit he’s a great player to have for England and United will learn so much under ETH. In an ideal world I’d like United to probably get rid Of Maguire , Lindelof, Bailey, Telles, B Williams, P Jones and A Tuanzebe (Real shame!) and then buy Dumfries, J Timber and K Min Jae which will cost £120m gross but we should get £80m back so a huge upgrades for £40m net which would give us AWB, Dumfries, Dalot,J Timber, Varane, Martinez, K Min Jae, T Mengdi, L Shaw and T Mallacia. Lots of options with K Min Jae and Varane alternating through injury issues for Varane and Dalot being able to play left or right back, we need to sign him up first though.

Nah, Dalot can move on. Aaron is mega and we’re allegedly in for Dumfries. Diogo is decent but seems a bit streaky and has been poor again of late.
Aaron is mega? Nah.

Great news that Shaw's contract has been sorted. Great defender and lethal going forward.

It’s good news, I just hope he can continue this form as he’s never really been able to keep it up. At least we’ve got Malacia if he does regress again.

Looking back, £30m was a bargain. Sounds crazy if you think just where he was only 3-4 years ago.

Great news and as rightly pointed here he’s only entering his prime even if it seems he’s been with us for ages. Last few years he’s been getting better with reliability and consistency and I fully expect this to continue. One of the best in the world at his position, United lad through and though and definitely one to be a certain starter for the upcoming years where we challenge for the titles.

What’s his new salary? He was on something like 150k sterling a week + bonus, must have received some decent raise?

On his day, there are few better. Of course we all know he is susceptible to the odd mega stinker, but thankfully they're becoming much rarer.

I think EtH has helped him unlock even more of his actual ball-playing ability this season, and of course he's also useful cover for LCB ahead of both Maguire and Lindelof.

Every penny saved on transfer fees to replace existing players goes in the Osimhen kitty amirite

It really wasn’t. It was a world record transfer fee for a teenager at the time, he was on ridiculous wages, he’s had 2 good years in his whole time here. Here’s hoping he actually maintains his recent form for the next few years.

Dig up stupid!
He's a brilliant fullback and clearly a very fine centre back too. ETH clearly rates him very highly and he refers to him a lot when asked about leaders in the squad.

As he enters his peak years and we've finally a competent coach I expect him to be a crucial part of trophy winning campaigns from now on

Good. Hopefully he'll iron our his weaknesses and the next 4 years would be his true and undeniable peak (as is should be for a 27-years old).

Great news. Probably easier to tie down a LB contract than a star forward.

Who is the highest paid LB in the world?

Still only 27 and has developed into being an excellent passer, very confident on the ball and a still improving defender. Good news
