How is he defensively? Looking at Transfermarkt his has primarily played RM in a 3-5-2 system?

I would say better than TAA but slightly less effective than Reece James. But offensive been really impressive, physically strong also.

How is this lad’s final ball / cross?

Wouldn’t mind some better deliveries coming in from the right to mirror what Shaw offers on the left.

His link up with Antony could be tasty and with Antony being quite good defensively this could be a very nice combo on the right

Basically an Antony replacement as much as a new RB.

Frimpong and AWB could be a decent pairing on the right.

His attacking numbers are very impressive, looks like he offers just about everything we lack in that regard at RB.

Also has one of the best dribbling success rates in Europe

Think he would work well with Antony really. Especially since Antony is as 1 deminsional as he is. At least with an overlapping fullback defenders have to worry about that and the inevitable cut-in and shoot.

By all accounts, if Frimpong arrives, AWB departs.
Dalot has a year left on his contract and was the one reportedly considering his options. Could be a toss up between the two, but I feel Dalot less likely to accept being a backup on the bench.

Dalot would be a bit redundant if we brought a Frimpong in.

AWB would still have tactical use and won't kick up much of a fuss if he's not the definite starter

Roberto Carlos was 5'6, Lahm was 5'7

Our own legend Denis Irwin 5'8 and so was Dani Alves.

Height typically has nothing to do with the ability of FB's or their roles.
Honestly, if he's any shorter than Dan Burn I don't want him in our back line regardless of whether he's a full back or a centre half. It's already full of midgets like Shaw, Malacia, Martinez and Dalot turning out on a regular basis so adding another one really wouldn't help. I'll add the white text this time so it's obvious that I'm joking

By all accounts, in August. Not now. After AWB had a resurgence and Dalot has been nothing but a horror show since the WC.

Dalot also has a year less on his contract and is more sought after in Europe.

If Frimpong is very strong attacking but weaker defensively, I think Dalot would leave and AWB would stay.

Is it hypercritical to suggest it's a red flag that Pep and City didn't stop him leaving city? I know they can't stop a youth player leaving but could this be like Pogba 2012/Sancho leaving city situation?

Yeah I’d say so. They let Trippier go and Ryan Giggs. In more recent times Lavia looks decent too.

No one gets it right all of the time. Not even those cnuts.

That’s not happening and it would be awful.

Given the current make-up of our team, how he is individually as a defender matters a lot less than how he is offensively and in possession.

He's incredible to watch, electric pace, skillful, great dribbling so from just a pure skillset I would love for him to join.
It has to be said that Xabi Alonso as a coach and the system with wingbacks are the perfect setup for him though. Alonso built a system that is taking best advantage of the strengths of his 3 key players Frimpong, Wirtz & Diaby. I'm not sure he could replicate his current form for United based on that.

I think people in here do far too much of this reading of tea leaves instead of just judging with their own eyes. "Is player A really good enough when club A let him leave five years ago and player B is currently struggling for us?"

I was a big fan of Sancho and quite disappointed when he moved to United because I was afraid that things might go exactly as they did. I'm more optimistic now that Ten Hag is your coach. Still not sure if I want Frimpong to move to Manchester as you guys still don't get the best out of Sancho. But whereever he moves, Frimpong has definitely deserved himself that move with exceptional performances. And if he fails (which is always entirely possible) then it's not because one could foresee it but because things didn't work out as expected.

Would Frimpong be successful in the premier league and at United do you feel?

I forgot he was at Celtic and quite highly rated then.

Frimpong is very very fast though, he might not be the best defender but can make up a lot with just pure speed.

I dont think Davies is the best defender but i do think Davies is a good left back. Maybe Frimpong can be like Davies.

According to today's Athletic article, it's AWB who is first out the door.

And Dalot has definitely been poor since the world cup, but over the season has reached a higher level than AWB.

Young, raw, talented, unpredictable, skillful, nimble player. He's one of the fastest players in Bundesliga. Far from being a finished product. Final ball still let's him down. Goal scoring not bad for a right back sure Fosu mensah has given him a few tips.
At 5,7 I'll be concerned about the height or lack of it, of our back line if we are still interested in signing Jurrien Timber. I'm imagining a back four with Frimpong, Timber, Martinez, Malacia.

This looks like the first summer window goer judging by the relatively reliable source it came from.

And to add to those concerns over ‘City happily let him go so is he that good?’, City let Zinchenko and Jesus go to Arsenal which could potentially feck them in the league over the next two months. They aren’t the all-seeing geniuses people think they are and they’re going to look pretty stupid if they don’t finish 1st and handed Arsenal’s two biggest signings to them for a total of £75m.

Saw someone mention in a different thread that he'd also count as homegrown due to playing for City when he was younger. Is anyone able to confirm that?

Given the players we're apparently looking to offload this summer that could actually be quite significant.

His dribbling is so good that his final ball usually has to be a simple cutback. Have someone there to finish them and he'll be brilliant for any attacking team.

His pace is frightening and low centre of gravity

I remember at celtic we were saying he is english homegrown so should fetch a bigger fee.

Yes, he would count as homegrown as he was at City since he was a kid.
