Solari sort of was. Technically we wasn’t a caretaker manager because you can’t be a caretaker manager for longer than 2 weeks in Spain, but he replaced Lopetegui a few months into the season and was sacked a few months before it finished. That was Zidane’s comeback.

That one win was a 3-0 Everton home win v Palace.

I said it at the time. Everton were in an extremely toxic and volatile situation at the time. There was absolutely no need for him to take on such an impossible task. I had hoped better for him but his tendency to make the wrong move is going to torpedo his career before it even gets off the ground.
He has the easiest job in football. It literally doesn't matter what happens until the end it the season. Maybe they shouldn't have hired anyone and just picked 11 players at random each game?

Only way I can see Chelsea winning a game right now is if your final few fixtures are dead rubbers and opposition has nothing to play for. I felt the same as a Man Utd fan after the first couple of fixtures this season, I couldn't see where the next result was coming.

I just honestly don't see anything about Lampard that gives me the impression he's made for management, no style of play, no decisiveness, an incapacity to take any accountability for his own shortcomings... He comes across as very arrogant and entitled, in my view, and I don't think those are great qualities in a business where constant improvement is needed. He'll probably get them in a relegation fight, avoid the drop, and the media will make it out as some kind of managerial success, just like at Everton.

For whatever reason, Lampard believes he is. As much as you and others think he's a bad manager and for as much as I and possibly ( @WeePat ) thinks he can still be a decent manager, Lampard seems to want to forge a managerial career. If he is serious about that, he needs to be more sensible with his career choices which have been highly emotional (a bit like his management career to date) which is surprising as he always struck me as quite a logical player and person.If he does make a sensible choice and still fails I will finally admit he is crap.

I think the perception when he was Derby was that he was a progressive upcoming,talented manager and his stock was high then.

He hasn't made a good decision since leaving Derby. Shouldn't have managed Chelsea the first time round or now. Everton were a mess and he was praised for not quite being bad enough to take them down, despite giving it a good go!
His starting line-up yesterday was mindblowing. It was like a Pep's approach by placing as many central players as possible, but with this small detail of being totally ineffective.
