Didn’t see that banger coming from Lindelof but what a relief.

Thought for sure Wout was going to be the one to miss.

Chance to deny city the treble. Better than relying on shite teams to do it for us. We've very little hope but at least it's in our hands. It's a final, anything can happen.

Weggy kissing the ball before handing it to Solly March and DDG standing in front of the spot, the only way Brighton going to miss.

Think we've seen today that real problem at the back is Maguire because Lindelof was great. Thia should be the back 4 till the end of the season with Maguire getting transfer listed the minute the season ends. Wan Bissaka for all his limitations is clearly the man for tough wingers because he was brilliant again today.

Huge performance from the defence, especially Shaw, Lindelof and AwB. Let's not ever get it confused who's at fault for the shambles at the back (except for maybe Dave).

Let's get Varane fit for the final, so we can stop these cnuts, 1977 style.

Pretty good game imo. Hope our full first XI would be fit for the final.

And I simply can't believe I'm saying this but Lindelof should be MOTM.

What a game! It was a miserable watch at times but these games are what being a fan is all about. The feeling of winning a tight knockout game is like no other. Fantastic penalties by the team. It doesn't matter how much possession Brighton had this game and City will have in the final, what matters is getting the win, no matter how ugly. It's up to us to stop City from the treble, and I expect United to give it everything in the final. Let's make it two final wins in two!

Horrible game to watch, I thought, but such a relief to go through.

Ah yes, penalties. Where De Gea gets a load more stick than any other keeper. I’m not De Geas number one fan but the amount of stick he gets during penalties is ridiculous!

Aside from that, nice to win a shootout!
Strange post. He was, yet again, abysmal in the shootout and we won it in spite of him because that one prat skied his pen.

What am I missing here?
Match day thread full of people having a go at De Gea for not saving penalties. Happens every shootout.

Even when we won the shootout, some people in there, instead of celebrating, were posting that we needed someone to miss as De Gea wasn’t going to save.

Not a great performance overall but Lindelof and AWB were both really good. Always nice to win a pen shootout as I felt very pessimistic about our chances of winning it.

David De Gea. 375,000 pounds a week and can't get anywhere near a penalty.

Brighton must regret not selecting Pawson to take a penalty.

We're gonna have to play 3000% better than that to have any chance against city.

Still, good character to come back from Thursday and not concede in 120m with a makeshift defence. Shaw was excellent. AWB was great. Casimero and Erikson look shot which is worrying. Might have to start Fred over Erikson.

Some great penalties too. Sancho and Weghorst finally contributed something!

I think Dave could've saved one of he just dived to his left every time.

Onwards and upwards. Can cement top 4 by beating the spuds next!

Delighted for the win. Not a really great game. Feel sorry for March - saw an interview with him - comes across as a super nice guy and also a Brighton lad. Oh well let’s do City now!

Jesus Ben, can't you just enjoy Wrexham's promotion and not shit on a fellow keeper? Just because you saved one the other week ffs

Fantastic.

Remember that people were predicting that Brighton would destroy us.
The first few pages of the match thread were shameful. And yet we criticise our players for not having hunger ever so often when we're so ready to throw in the towel.

Linekar suprised that there's never been a Manchester Derby FA Cup final. As if City ever had a hope of reaching one until winning the Oil lottery.
