Alisson's beard may well be the most impressive thing about this Liverpool side

You're wrong, the players shielding the ball out of play or to the keeper do have possession technically or else a direct or indirect free kick would be awarded depending on how they impede their opponent.

Here's the wording directly from ifab's website:

A player may shield the ball by taking a position between an opponent and the ball if the ball is within playing distance and the opponent is not held off with the arms or body. If the ball is within playing distance, the player may be fairly charged by an opponent.
So the ball was in playing distance for the defender and he got his foot between the ball and the opposition?

Give me refs that don't dish out a red for that all day long.
I think we would all like that to be the case but unfortunately refs do dish reds out for that and less, which means they should be doing it consistently.

That's where the problem is.

Was dreading this game and my nightmares are coming true. Thought 1-0 at halftime would have flattered us but gives some hope, that goal at the end killed the game. Very disappointing how we're crumbling to the finish line here, but I guess that's why they say you don't win anything with kids.

Alabama but always Wales in my heart
The fact we managed to feck up signing him will never not piss me off. We had a club and Norwegian legend in Ole watching him everyday in training at Molde, who then came back to United as manager and signed Dan James.
I will ignore the jibe at the finest Welsh player ever to wear the United shirt and simply point out that Ole recommended Haaland to us when he was managing him at Molde and the club didn't follow up.

what’s a fecking soccer player?
The word "soccer" was coined in Britain in the 1860s and commonly used in the UK for a century. The word "football" didn't become standard in Britain until after WWII and only the exclusively the correct word starting the 1970s.

Check out footage from the 1910 era and you'll hear British announcers consistently use the word "soccer".

Haven't seen a goal that looked so obviously offside turn out not to be for a while.
Although i'd like to get the ruler out on the angle of that line they drew versus the 18 yard line box

God, I f..ing hate City, their smug players, Pep, the retarded looking Norwegian and most of all the fact that they wouldn’t be in this position hadn’t it been for financial doping. Must be fun being a City fan, like rooting for Ben Johnson knowing he takes steroids.

Put it out of your mind.

If we'd signed him he'd probably be turning over 10 goals a year.

I bet Arteta copies everything Guardiola does in training to the smallest detail. Will soon see him go bald too in a desperate attempt to be like him.

The ball was within playing distance for both kdb and Partey. Neither played the ball but kdb was the only one attempting to do so. I think that makes it impeding an opponent with contact and should've been a pen. I might be wrong but that's my interpretation.
