Indeed, you are embarrassing.

We have two games in hand and still are above them. And Newcastle are still in the equation.
Can only think it's emotional damage from the last 10 years or so.

No doubt them cnuts being a point behind has people worried, their games look easy enough on paper, they'll probably win all 3. But with 2 games in hand, if the points needed are not picked up then top 4 is not deserved.

Should win the next 3 games and that should put it to bed.

The last ten years left me cold mate. I won’t be fecking nervous for a top 4 finish. If we don’t make it, we don’t deserve to play the CL honestly.
I was much more sensitive when we played for titles. Now, it’s just meh. I suppose I still didn’t turn into a gunner to be nervous for a top 4 and then watch the team get walloped by 6 or 7 goals against Bayern.

liverpool look to have found some form for a late charge up the table.

the fact remains even if liverpool achieve maximum remaining points, we can lose 2 of our last 5 and still get top 4, unless brighton get max points from a run that includes arsenal, man city and newcastle. Looking at the form of the teams we face it shouldnt be a problem and if it is we can only blame ourselves.

only question is whether we will brick it or have the mentality needed to deal with the pressure. ultimately to get where we want to go, we have to have players who could pretty easily navigate this sort of situation.
If we are asking this sort of questions, we have no chance in a title race.

Exactly..

This is Liverpool all over, even when they've been shit they still make a late charge. As the saying goes the table doesn't lie, you end up where you deserve to be.

Yeah they did this the other season to squeeze in to CL. The maths side if it looks way more positive than them being 1 point behind us in the table.

Personally to me a lot does hinge on the West Ham game. 3 points and I'll be pretty confident of top 4. Just fecks me off that we always do things the hard way. Top 4 should have been sealed before we played Bournemouth.

Leicester wont lose to Liverpool next week, the need something from the game to stay up.

I think we'll get something against West Ham tomorrow night as Moyes will want to rest players ahead of AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, after that we should really be able to win all our remaining games.
If we beat West Ham I think we'll get there. If we don't we won't.

Tomorrow is crucial. We win that and everyone will be a lot more confident. If we don't the pressure will build and build
Agreed. Whenever we lose, the most negative posters come on insisting we're doomed and will fall apart and the club is dying etc. When we win, they all pipe down until the next defeat. Teams are never as good as they look at their best or as bad as they seem at their worst.

Indeed, you are embarrassing.

I think some posters prefer to be negative so they can say they called it first. It's weird. I don't get freaking out in advance.

There is no doubt you will easily beat West Ham so I wouldn’t even give slipping up a second thought. It’s a given.

This race looks like who can limp his way into top 4. Can't complain considering the number of games we played but it's feels like the more games we would need to play, the smaller chance we have to get there "first". Still think we will make it.

It’s done. You have top four in the bag especially tomorrow after you give West Ham a good hiding.

They’re definitely favourites at this time but they are struggling for goals. This is what’s making some of them poop themselves. Think they’ll make it though, you guys to get 5th, Brighton 6th and Spurs 7th.

Yep, I reckon the same. united can’t lose tomorrow because they are just too good and there is no way West Ham will even compete in this game.

Just remember that Liverpool are having a 'terrible' season, and we're currently having the 'best season since Fergie retired' apparently.

We're the only ones limping right now. Liverpool have a few players back from injury and are winning every game even with mediocre performances.

It is still basically impossible for Liverpool to get 4th, United will be fine.

Newcastle (max. 80 points): Arsenal (H), Leeds (A), Brighton (H), Leicester (H), Chelsea (A).

United (max. 78 points): West Ham (A), Wolves (H), Bournemouth (A), Chelsea (H), Fulham (H).

Liverpool (max. 71 points): Leicester (A), Villa (H), Southampton (A).

Brighton (max. 73 points): Everton (H), Arsenal (A), Newcastle (A), Southampton (H), City (H), Villa (A).

With the fixtures they've got, you'd really think it's unlikely and an outside chance for Brighton, they'll probably finish on 66-69 points. Liverpool are surely winning 2 of their last 3 games, then it's just a case of if third game they win or draw, but I think they're in kind of a moment where they win games even if they don't play that good. So it'll be 71 points for them. Newcastle are safe for top 4, it's only a question if they'll finish 3rd or 4th but 3rd is more likely.

Then it's about us and having such a low GD we have to get another 9 points out of 15 for top 4 finish. Good thing is Wolves won yesterday so they reached those 40 points that make them completely safe now. Bournemouth are safe as well and getting a point at Palace would get them to 40 points, too. Chelsea and Fulham can't reach European places so have nothing to play for but surely will be up for it for pride, Chelsea wanting to at least finish the season in good fashion and Fulham will have that loss in Fa Cup as a motivation. Today's game at West Ham is perhaps most difficult on paper as West Ham tend to do well at home vs big teams and aren't safe yet.

That is true. But they are catching up on the terrible form they've been showing early in the season. It is quite remarkable how much resilience They have to come back like that.

Haven't we finished above Liverpool quite a few times in the last 8 years or so?

If you get anything 75 points or above then regardless of placement you’ve beaten Ole’s best season but not Mourinho’s. So while it’s not the best Post-Fergie it’s still plausibly 2nd best. Ole’s season somehow gets a lot of credit when it wasn’t great, was a lot of jammy comeback wins in there too.

I wouldn't call it resilience. Diaz is back, the pressure is off and they have nothing to lose. The unfortunate thing is when they are in this sort of a situation, things just seem to break their way. Like with that header from their goalkeeper a couple of years ago and us losing to them at home to help their top-4 quest.

Our away form is concerning, also we have our two games in hand but liverpool have their points on the board already.
Todays game is huge.

Sadly for Liverpool, their amazingly wonderful form cannot turn their victories into more than 3 points each.

Best football we've played in the last 10 years at least + away record + those combacks weren't "jammy"

If we lose today then yes we are in a dogfight. Even then we only need 3 wins out of our final 4 games, 3 of which are at home and the away game is Bournemouth. We’d still be in a good position. Obviously it looked like it could be comfortable though and I understand why people don’t trust these lot to see it through.

A win today and we’re almost there.
