Can kovacic bomb up and down in an 8 like Mount theoretically would? Also isn't he suffering from more injuries? Haven't really followed the reasons hes missed games this season to be fair.
I think he's better equipped playing as a no.8 but I think his injury record is quite concerning.

At 29 I don't think his injury record will get much better anyway.
Probably not, if Kovacic is our main midfield signing I think his reliability will just be an issue. At City, it seems he will be more of a squad player than a regular anyway, so less dependency on him.

Would be hugely underwhelming if Højlund was our sole striker signing.
To be fair, this says to indicate he wants two strikers. Experienced player and a younger player. Not sure I believe we have the money to do that though.

Depends on how much we spend on the experienced striker - if that is a 100m striker - it could be difficult.

But for instance Mount for £50 mill, Rabio on a free, Kim for £50 mill, Kane for £100 mill and Hojlund for £50 mill is doable if we can offload players for close to £100 mill

Henderson, McTominay, Maguire, Martial - if we can get rid of all 4 should fetch that amount

He's got 3 years left on his deal. He'll cost the club 30 million in wages alone. Take the hit and save 20 is best outcome.
He is contracted till June 2025, so 2 years, so if the pay off is 10m, then that's basically a little bit above 50% of his remaining wages.

But I am confident he is a sellable asset, if a suitable club pays 20M for him, I think he would go to save his international career since Euro2024 are a year away and he wouldn't to rot in the bench here.

Would be a really smart move to hire him as a DOF given his experience and relationship with Ten Hag.
Smart to hire him for a job he’s never done? He tried to cover for the lack of Ajax DoF this past summer and got a lot of decisions wrong. Not sure what part of that would be a smart idea?

Are we looking for one or the other unless Muani is classed as the experienced one?

Kane is not happening and I don't think Hojlund and Kolo Muani in the same window would be underwhelming at all. Those are two very good young strikers who are on the up and whose styles look to be suited to the PL. In this market, I would be amazed if we got both of them because that is a massive outlay.

I wish we were in for Kovacic instead. I imagine City will sign him for 30m and we'll get Mount for something like 50m+
Mount is 5yrs younger than Kova, and an English homegrown player which means he will cost more, I think a fee similar to what Raheem went for (45m) is a fairer, certainly not 60m

I think its one or the other + an experienced striker

Hojlund makes sense as a backup. If we can't get Kane why not try Benzema for a season and then get Kane on a free next summer?

Still think Kane will join this season personally but an alternative if Levy continues to be a dumb twat

Ah Okay. But save for Kane, don't see who the "experienced striker" is going to be. Might as well sign them both and roll with them. Just aren't that many options out there these days. If Kane becomes available next year and wants to join, we can still do the deal. Old United had 4 lethal strikers under Fergie. 3 by next year wouldn't be too much I don't think. Would also help with tactical flexibility. We need as many sources of goals as possible.

If Mount only wants to come to us, then surely we can leverage that to get him at a better price?

I said earlier that around £40ish million would be a good fee. Around £50/60 million does seem excessive.

However, I think this is the summer we will actually make a decent amount selling a few of our players, so it might not mean too much in the grand scheme of things anyway and might not impact our ability to sign some additional quality players.

I think realistically, even with our dodgy negotiation team, we could expect the following transfer fees;

Maguire around £30 million
McTominay around £30 million
Fred around £10 million
Henderson around £20 million

They all seem realistic don’t they?

Who is Claret & Hugh
Apparently they’re reliable West Ham sources with their own website rather than Twitter (which is odd). Just read they called this move last summer when Romano etc said he was open for a move then. He wanted to give West Ham 12 more months then leave.
Seems to have been true

Edit apparently they’re close with the owners

Insiders Claret and Hugh, who are known to have direct links to the club’s owners, have rather worryingly claimed they are looking at potentially moving for McBurnie, with a £10million price-tag placed on him.

One owner died so we can guess which owner they’re close to.

2nd edit yep. Sullivan

Mount Rice-Kane sounds like a tourist attraction you might find in the Mojave desert. Cool trio if we pull it off though.

Would Utd really need Mount and Rice?

Casemiro and Fernandes would still both be expected starters
It'll probably be Rice-Casemiro-Bruno as the starting midfield with Mount as a rotation option for CM/CAM and the wings.
