He looked more Modric than Modric himself in the WC semi final. Of course Modric was 37 yo but it's still quite some achievement imo. It's just one match and I'm not saying he's anywhere near the level of Modric but it's not really nonsense I think.
He’ll never come within a lightyear of Modric. Good footballer indeed but there are players who are incredibly gifted and he isn’t one of them. In terms of natural talent even Enzo looks more gifted to me albeit technical qualities are not everything.

Brilliant signing for them really. Love him at Brighton and I think he'll be great in Klopp system.
IMO he is one of those players that knows exactly what to do on the pitch and execute them at any given situation. He's not a ceiling raiser, but he's a floor raiser that can ensure your team to at least have a chance to win a match

He will be an excellent player for them, unfortunately. Getting the business done early again.

Modrić dictated games since forever - Mac Allister is a support player. He's a Milner, a wijnaldum, a Fred, a mount, and so on... That's not an insult. That's just saying what type of player he is. Caicedo dictates games for Brighton more than anyone. Or Gilmour. Mac Allister just supports and adds other qualities of course but is in no way the orchestrator in midfield. That's evidenced by him having fewer touches per game, fewer passes, fewer progressive passes, etc. For Argentina it was the same - Mac Allister added some good forward runs to support and added energy. The quality and control in midfield came from Enzo.

You just can't compare a player who has never dictated games for his side with 2 of the best controlling midfielders of all time. It's nonsense.
I don't watch Brighton much so no idea about his role there. But one thing I'm pretty sure about is at Madrid Kroos was more of the pass and control type who dictate the tempo. Modric was more of a box to box and ball carrier midfielder imo. Of course both could dictate the game from period to period it's the same with any top quality midfield where the roles could be switched between the midfielders for a period to suprise the opponent or for tactical tweaks. Anyway I don't think you can't deny the fact Modric and Mac Allister have quite some similarities in their style. Both are very anti - pressing it's very hard almost impossible to take the ball off them. Both like to run with the ball across the lines etc.

Imo it's almost impossible to clearly and definitely tell the roles of the top midfielders in a game. For a moment they can be the ball carrier, the next moment they can be the one who dictate the tempo, or to be the last man to defend etc. It's not like they only play a certain role for the entire 90' and for every matches.

I actually said the same after that game and no one bat an eyelid.
In fact he looked more Modric than Modric himself in the Argentina vs Croatia match.

Again I never said he's as good as or might become as good as prime Modric. I only said there's some similarities between the two so I could understand where the comparison here could come from. If Lalana said he's as good as prime Modric then that's completely nonsense. But if he only said he's a similar type of midfielder with Modric then it's quite understandable imo.

Liverpool doing business early again like the rest of the clubs while we're probably preparing a bid for someone.

this is a complete nonsense. Comparing a midtable player with one of the GOAT
Why not? When Greenwood first came to the stage many said he's a bit like RVP. And all the comparisons of players especially the young ones to even Messi, Ronaldo etc.. Nobody said it's nonsense I think as long as there's some similarities between the two.

Nobody says he's as good as prime Modric. That's nonsense. But if some says he's a bit like Modric it's ok imo.
That's where similarities stop.
And the energy too. One very important thing about Modric that most don't notice is his insane level of stamina which allows him to run all day all games. As a box to box and ball carrier midfielder it's essentially to have a great stamina and be able to cover the most of the ground. And imo Mac Allister also has a pretty good football brain. Which Modric has a great one.

If he's their only midfield signing they're not competing for anything again.

Thiago is injured 70% of time.
Fabihno is done.
Henderson?
Even if he manages to get TAA in the middle and buys a new RB, that's still a shit midfield.

Hyperbole is getting carried away. Nothing like modric or anywhere near his level.

It is nonsense.

They could still compete for the best-of-the-non-cheaters trophy, so we need to speed up our transfer business too.

Alexis Mac Allister has completed the medical tests as new Liverpool player.
The doctors have found he appears to suffer from asthma!

He's worth at least £50-60m. That's a steal. Good business by the scousers unfortunately. Probably leaves plenty of money for a 2nd midfield signing and even a CB.

Well.. they pay a clause that is quite low? That's how simple it is?

And yeah, good buy for the price. Not sure he'll be a success there however.

For that price, if true, an incredible deal, meanwhile we probably pay £50million+ for Mason fecking Mount!

I imagine that Caicedo has a clause too which is why De Zerbi was so open about losing both.

Brighton have been taken to the cleaners on this one it seems. Will be interesting to see what their PR side come out with on the deal.

The interesting thing is that until Liverpool paid the clause, which is 35 million, not a few teams were interested in Mаc Allister and there was talk of a price of around 65-70 million euros. There was no mention of a buyout clause at all.

How come no one knew about the clause until now.

Keira, Chamberlain, Macallister, recent Fabinho, Nunez, Thiago, Fabio carvalho, Tsimikas - could be wrong but I think he’s going to be at that level.

Liverpool’s signing have been whack for some time, purely on that I doubt his success.
