Yeah that’s a terrifying way to go, hopefully everything ends ok and everyone is fine.

Random but that time a guy made his own sub popped into my head, and he took a reporter in it with him. And then killed her while deep in the ocean, and lied badly about what happened.

HBO has a drama series about that... The Investigation.

What a sad story. If it's of any comfort, they most likely died a quick death.
Is it too morbid of me to ask what the thinking is here? I was imagining a slowly running out of oxygen situation.

To me, going into the deep in one of those things is just asking for it. You won't see me in a helicopter either.

I don't know what happened to it, I'm just telling you what the quick options are that @adexkola was referring to.
Spot on, you'd black out instantly at those pressures.

And if the hull didn't fail and they ran out of oxygen... That would be painless... Apart from the mental anguish

Another sea vessel went missing off the coast of Greece carrying 500ish refugees.

There is just no way anyone could ever get me into a submarine.

Do they take food/water with them if it’s eight hours? If they have enough oxygen to last four days hopefully they can be found? I know nothing about this sort of stuff though.

I have no idea either, yet.

Didn't some Scottish fans go to the world cup in 78 in a sub? Or did I dream that?

Same! and more broadly not going under water more than a couple of meters deep. I love snorkeling but trying out scuba diving a couple of times were some of the most stressful moments!
