We have no money to spend on different targets and as long as serious club like Bayern, City, Madrid and Barcelona are involved, we are out of the race.

We became a joke of a club.

Is it OK to post things we'd ban opposition fans for?

Are lots of you just scousers playing the long game?

And yet two out of the four clubs you name are corrupt as anything and the other spanish club had to rely on the Spanish government bailing them out all the time.

And yet we’re the joke of a club

Strange he's not on United's radar, but RB will maybe buy him if Gvardiol goes to City.
yeah Leipzig can buy him for 20m, for us to buy him in a few years for 60m to replace Varane. It the United way. Sutalo is too cheap for the transfer committee to spend time working on it.

We should buy him before buying him in 2 years for 50m to replace Varane. Let's see whether Tendi Mengi gets to feature in pre-season.

And where do Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano stand in this for Bayern? As far as anyone is concerned, I have yet to hear that either fell out with the manager.
In my opinion, it is safe to say that after last year’s performances, “Upamaguire” will not be a starter at Bayern next year.

I thought the club would be all over this transfer even just for marketing BS; don't we have a huge fan base in South Korea? Him and Martinez would have been a brutal partnership for oppo strikers :(

You realise that Woodward is not the CEO?

EtH has 4 players he can play at CB...Martinez, Varane, Lindelof Shaw and then if he has too Maguire.

I very much doubt United were even remotely interested in this guy...especially not as the first summer transfer, so lets not cry over every player that signs for another club this summer.

Leaving him with a whole at LB....

Very true, I would argue a full back is a lot higher on the priority list...another reason to NOT to cry about a CB signing
No just leave Shaw alone and sign a CB given Varane is injury prone and Lindelof doesn't have the speed

Sure, lets just get a CF, GK, CM first and spend what's left (which wont be very much) on a CB or FB

Deal!

So predictable, big press links and also from respected gossips like Romano on a top player coming here, go a few pages back and everybody was talking of this deal as if we had already done it with no competition for Serie A's defender of the year. I stated several pages back wouldnt be at all surprised for another big club to get involved...low and behold.

Now he has gone somewhere else, everybody says we were probably not interested and it is press links. Obviously only the clubs, agents and player involved really know....but I say bs to those saying beign gullible to the press, pretty certain we were interested in him, the timeframe still left before his release clause always set up potential problems.

I think it was a good deal, however with our needs £50m odd is still a lot to spend for what we need which is essentially a younger second choice centre back to challenge Varane over the next couple of seasons as a starter....when there are three first eleven spots need filling and just as many squad ones this summer...not that I think we get anywehere near 7 signings we need.

Think there are a few really good young centre backs (Disas isnt one of them) that should be far cheaper than the Jae deal, not saying they are as good, but offer good long term solutions

Kim Min Jae would have been the perfect partner to Licha, suits ETHs style much better than Varane and is not so injury prone. He would have been a top top transfer and we missed a huge chance because of the ownership problem. Especially since he has alwaya dreamt of moving to EPL and was supposedly very open to join us. But Bayern was more serious in the end.

I have no idea wether you were interested in him or not. But I absolutely think that another quality CB is something you guys could use quite well. A club of your stature should have at least three CBs playing on a very high level. I think as of right now, you only have two. So while it might not be your primary need, adding another one would make a lot of sense.

We were obviously never interested as we repeatedly emphasized the priority was a Striker/ Midfielder/ Goalkeeper

So from what I can gather this is usually the way things go on the caf:

1. Interested FC is interested in a player
2. Caf goes wild
3. Another team buys said player
4. Caf says you were not even interested in the first place

Is that about right?

Barcelona takes weeks to register any players they want. Oh, and their own players as well.

Believe it or not, Caf is not a hive mind.

Is he any good?

Been linked with a few clubs, I saw Arsenal linked a while back and more recently Spurs.
My opinion (not using Fbref who have Maguire matched with Militao and Varane) is he looks a baller and at 22 fits the bill. He is mainly being hunted by Leipzig but think a direct approach to Zagreb and giving them a fee + add ons would get the deal done. To me he fits the bill and style of Varane cover /unstudy and also plays LB.

Accepting that is part of our reset. If we can’t get a player, move on. Quickly. The current ‘top’ clubs can’t sign everyone.

Martinez was a dream of a signing and most of the big clubs would love him. There are loads of players of his calibre out there.

Our climb back to the top is at least 5 years long and that’s totally fine.
