I don't think his finishing is elite.

He can shoot from almost any angle and position, but he doesn't have that clinical ability to put the ball wherenever he wants like Messi, Son, Kane, etc.

I don’t know if they’re deficiencies. Pep has him playing a particular way it would appear, but he’s demonstrated in other teams that his link up play and general play is quality too.
His link up and general play may be good and it may be Pep's fault that he can't showcase it (which is quite a weird excuse) but it is nowhere near the level of the best players to have played the game. That will hurt his legacy long term; there is a certain way he will be judged

He is a ridiculously consistent scorer but like I've always said, he isn't the type of player I'll ever tune in to watch play. Way too boring for my liking and that's one of the main reason he'll be considered as the best striker for me.
The emotion generated by football plays a big role for me, it's not just about stats
The best goalscorer similar to Gerd Muller or Shearer. If Muller played today, he'd be hyped up to no end.

Best striker I have ever seen. He is a physical specimen and his finishing is lethal. But more than that his ability to be in the right place at the right time borders on precognition. And this is something that doesn't go away with age.

It has actually come some sort of football monster to City. This guy...

A strikers job is to score, it dont matter how. But it matters whit consistency, this guy do it everywhere for everone. Even at Norway he is getting a goal a game.

Absolutely. I have never seen anything like that from any striker. I wonder how is he compared with other all time best strikers like R9, Muller, Eusebio at similar age in top level football:

Haaland
at 19: 44 goals in 40 games
at 20: 41 goals in 41 games
at 21: 29 goals in 30 games
at 22: 52 goals in 53 games

R9
at 18: 35 goals in 36 games
at 19: 19 goals in 21 games
at 20: 47 goals in 49 games
at 21: 34 goals in 47 games

Esuebio
at 19: 29 goals in 31 games
at 20: 38 goals in 39 games
at 21: 46 goals in 28 games
at 22: 48 goals in 38 games

Muller
at 20: 16 goals in 39 games
at 21: 43 goals in 45 games
at 22: 30 goals in 46 games
at 23: 37 goals in 35 games

The fact that he does it in the toughest league during one of the most physical and defensively organised era was even more impressive to me.
Wouldn't necessarily agree with this, you need to look at how their peers were scoring in those same years, and that makes a Ronaldo more impressive. He was scoring 35 goals a season when other world class strikers were scoring 20+ goals.

For Haaland, he's scoring in an era where Lewandowski, Mbappe, Kane, Benzema and Messi are scoring, while not maybe at the same amount, lots of goals themselves.

Young Ronaldo is still the most impressive striker I've ever seen. He scored almost as much as Haaland and had arguably the best dribbling ability in the world at that time.

He tends to be able to put it exactly where the keeper can't save it.

Well that’s not entirely true. Although R9 was truly amazing during his peak, he did get outscore by Bierhoff in Serie A during his 34 goals season there. His truly amazing year in terms of goalscoring was the one at Barca.

Haaland’s challenge this season is to bag hattricks instead of doubles in the sub 80 minutes he gets on the pitch.

Best player on the planet for a while now.

No. Best player

A cheat code - he’s unstoppable. Deserving of the Ballon d’Or, but we all know that one goes to Messi for one last time.

Well Haaland wasn't the top scorer above Lewandowski as well.

Even with that said, Haaland isn't better than Lewandowski, Benzema, Kane (yes yes, laugh but I've said this for a while) and even peak Suarez so far from saying he's the best ever.

Let's see how Haaland progresses in terms of scoring by the end of his career but at this stage he isn't better than the others above.

To be fair, Lewandowski did break Muller’s all time record in BL, and was scoring at an insane rate for several years during his peak (50+ goals per season) and was at Ballon D’or level. Bierhoff was clearly far from that level.

I am not going to conclude anything here, as R9 was clearly better player. But in terms of goalscoring, I think Haaland is easily the most impressive striker I’ve ever seen.

Forgot to add "never" but I see you got my point anyway. Make no mistake though, I would have loved to have a player like that for our team. The assurance of a goal/game is soothing

Do Kane and Son just not bother to score as much then?

Shocks me how people are talking about Haaland vs Mbappe & how it is reminds me about how people talked about Ronaldo vs Messi.

One does it consistently in different leagues, hard leagues and the less historical successful national team whilst prioritizing physical ability to become less technical & to some be boring.

The other does it majority in one league, for a National team with a history of success through decades & is a very technical/beautiful play to the fans eyes.

Interesting, Mbappe will be the GOAT for the majority I reckon.

He will go down as one of the best pure goalscorers ever similar to Gerd Muller whether he stays at City or moves elsewhere. But deficiencies in other aspects of his game will always prevent him from being recognised as a true GOAT candidate.
Yeah, it's why I prefer Mbappe as a player.

What I would say though is that Mbappe needs to move in the next couple of years if he wants the recognition he deserves. He’s simply a miles better player than a player like Haaland, but won’t get that recognition in France. He desperately needs a move to Madrid or the Premier league where his talents will be on show.

Lemme know when Mbappe decides to actually test himself in a good league.

Haaland even performs better in the Champions League.

Haaland is waaaaaaay closer to Ronaldo than Mbappe is to Messi.

I think both Haaland and Mbappe are a bit overrated because they score so much. I hope in a few years, somebody like Pedri, Gavi, Wirtz, Bellingham, Musiala, Duranville, Lamine or Güler will be recognized as the best in the world instead of them. They may score less but have all the potential to become better players than Haaland and Mbappe who can be really, really quiet when their teams don't create chances for them.

Where do you see potential in those names that are even remotely on the same level of Mbappe or Haaland?

As for those two, Haaland seems to disappear in big games going by their CL run last year. It seems easier to keep him out of the game. Mbappe on the other hand is able to produce even when things aren’t going well. He is without a doubt the better player with much more to his game, doesn’t help himself and his legacy by staying in the French league for so long though. Haaland has been much smarter in that regard.

But I don’t feel either one will get close to Messi/Ronaldo.
