Sums him up, loser player and loser mentality. He’ll be in a worse off position financially in two years at he end of his contract if he chooses to sit on the bench here for two seasons.

If we only had appointed Rangnick for our sporting director .. ffs . That guy wanted us and recommended to our board to buy Enzo,Alvarez, Nkunku and Gvardiol when they were 10 m pounds each .. and we did nothing as usual.

We are the biggest circus in the world and and I don't see how this is going to get better anytime soon.
Aye and he suggested we sign mbappe when he came directly out of his dad's sack, on a free. Ragnick knew everything.

Nkunku scored 35 goals the season ragnick came, talking absolute garbage if you think he was obtainable for 10 million.

I’ve defended him lots but enough is enough. He’s behaving like a spoiled brat.

fecking hell.

This is a disaster whichever way you look at it. He surely won't be starting for England next summer because unless there's an injury crisis he won't be getting much game time. He's essentially 5th choice.

There's still time to find a resolution. Probably on the very last day. But we also need a replacement.

Thank God for Harry. We were in disarray, moaning about a dozen different things. Last night, Voldemort, Barbie, the team's inability to pass the ball properly. But now he has given us all something to focus our annoyance on, like a shit Dr Manhattan.

And people here were saying we shouldn’t sell Maguire and Mctominay for anything less than 70m . Enjoy them now. You all deserve it.

Fair play to him, I wouldn't want to write off £7m to play for a smaller side.

Hopefully it can get sorted because he's not good enough for us and should be playing somewhere

Yes it was mental to not accept that initial offer made by WHU.

At the end of the day it's money he is entitled to as he signed a contract, this is on the football club and it's ridiculous negotiations at the time. It doesn't appear to be the case that he's demanding the complete difference between one salary and the other paid up, which he would also be entitled to do. I don't really get why people think footballers should be happy to take a real-terms near 50% wage cut just on a whim; it's a lot of money to just give up.
Well he can just say I'm not going to WH or anywhere else and stay and fight for his place and collect his 190k every week on the bench.

If he wants to play most weeks then he excepts the pauper salary of 100k a week. But not sure how he would manage to live on 100k a week with the cost of living in London.

Poor Harry, hard life.

Putting him on the bench last night was a silly move. It strengthened Maguires position.
Agree, he should have been in the stands or at home watching it.

He looked absolutely miserable sitting there on the bench, can't be helping morale.

I don't condone the booing of Maguire but it will be impossible to feel any sympathy for him after this deal collapsing. He's just here for the money now, that's obvious.

Yeah why not put him in the stands and have Evans on bench infront of him, seems he does not take huge hints.
I don't understand it. After last night, surely Maguire and his agent were like ''ok I'll be a squad player then''.
Not including him on the bench last night would have been the best power move.

We've got £26m of his book value left. If we get a £30m fee, we are +4m.

The problem is that becomes -£3m if it includes a £7m pay off (ignoring just taking him off the wage bill, but we want to sign another player for the same sort of wage in Pavard as it is).

There's an odd imbalance in the money and the power.

Maguire demands that he is little or no worse off if he leaves, but he isn't it all responsible for his form decreasing his value so much

Most of the reporting hints at this being revived later in the window. I think United have to continue pursuing the Pavard deal to force through the exit later, show him there is no path back for him to first team football. Whether we can get the funds signed off for that, I don't know.

He is entitled to it if he stays. If he's happy sitting on the bench and getting paid that money, go for it. You can't change club for the benefit of your England/Club career and demand they pay you what was agreed under totally different circumstances. He shouldn't be happy, but he has to weigh it up against actually playing football. You can't have both.

Apparently I was negative for saying I didn't believe this deal would happen.

This is now Winston Bogarde territory. It’s just makes him look really bad. The fact he is happy to sit on the bench for another couple of years instead of playing for a big EPL club like West Ham is just pathetic.

West Ham are in London, the lifestyle is great there for someone on £100k p/w .

And what about Engurland. Thought he was proud to play for his country. Clearly doesn‘t give two monkeys about playing in the Euros, or playing at all for that matter.

Also, ETH comments didn’t help. “If he doesn’t want to fight for his place then he should go, He is a good player, England’s best centre back.”

I know he‘s trying to be diplomatic in the media but he is giving him false hope. Just leave him out of the match day squad. Maguire probably thinks an injury to Varane and he’s back in the team.:wenger:

I said it before and I’ll say it again. Utterly shameless

Has to go to the Seychelles instead of Dubai?
Who knows. Maybe the sheer option is enough for him to play hard ball. The world today eh.
I do think most of us would do the same. Double wages is future proofing your family that much more.

But in terms of what you can do with your life.
I was just kidding, as I said, I can see why you'd fight for it - over the 2 years left on his contract, that's nearly £10M, which is generational money. Why he thinks he deserves it, is odd, if he's accepting he needs to move to get game time.

I think the deal had already collapsed by last night, hence the reason he was on the bench
We should have excluded him from the squad then him and his agent would be forced to look for another club.

Lindelof was the CB sub, so ETH clearly wasn't going to use Maguire.

I mean he shouldn't be, but Southgate has his favourites so you can't rule it out.

If Colwill is as good as people say though he'll be in trouble.
He should be in trouble anyway. Surely the likes of Stones, Tomori or Ben White have shown in the past 12 months that they are at least at a similar level and realistically way above him?

Exactly.

But we this place was on the the Solskjaer bandwagon then - so it was all about backing the manager. Half of the mess the clubs ends up in, is due to our fanbase constantly egging the club into moronic things.
I know and it will happen again I’m sure because I still don’t see who we have behind he scenes who has the competence to challenge/support the manager. Just a lot of people who will take credit when going well but be blame less when it doesn’t.

I don’t blame Maguire in a way, club wants him to give up 10-15m but they’ll just piss it all away.

Reminds me of Sunderland documentary when their new owners are trying to unsuccessfully force/guilt trip Rodwell to leave and write off his wages and they then go and spunk 3m on Will Grigg.

Deal isn’t off until West Ham buy an alternative. Having said that, Maguire is such a strange character study; it takes some serious stones to stand your ground and line yourself up for what will be almost universal hatred, at the same time, when actually playing, looking like a terrified, nervous wreck. What kind of paradox is he presenting? If you have the nerve to go up against a club and fanbase, how can you be so scared when on a pitch?

Sums up how little self-insight he has. Full of himself and a move to play regularly and play for England is not important enough for him it seems. Shows what his priorities are and that he has no motivation.
