So far he's a player that makes you wish we had a much better version of him.

Which we probably could’ve done with that Mason Mount money. Broken record, I know, but what could’ve been, man…

Looked better when Casemiro was off. Which is hard to do as a lone DM. I think he's solid for us. But Case needs dropping.

Dig up stupid!
I like what I see so far but he's already falling into the trap of being too hesitant in his pass, often taking another touch when not necessary.

This wasn't there in his debut and is something the entire team is doing right now so undoubtedly a sqaud confidence issue but I'd hoped as a newcomer he's be exempt from it.

He reads the game well and has good controlled aggression. Just need to keep that confidence up

Yep, and they always reached their target.

He misplaced only 2 passes and had 3 key passes.
Nice to know, I think Cas, rashford need time on the bench, come on with fire like martial and mctominay
Or mope about like sancho and piss off

Or the Casemiro money, or the Antony money, or the Sancho money etc. We've ignored it for ten years and never really replaced Carrick.

Needs to sharpen up. Understandable considering he didn't have a preseason and got thrown straight away into the 11 due to the circumstances. Played much better after Case went off and doesn't give the ball away like our other midfielders (97% accuracy today).

Is it me or did his performance improve after Casemiro was subbed?

Yeah unless he gets significantly better then it would be a waste of money. I said it previously but I don't think he's better than McTominay or Fred.
Top level Fred is a much better player. However Amrabat looks as if he will give you pretty much the same level of basic technical competence in every game, which could not always be said about Fred.

He doesn't give many passes away, but i think his first touch is quite poor. It's heavy too often. I need to see more of him, but I'm not convinced so far.

Tidy and effective.Nothing special.

£30 million for Ward-Prowse who is better and has started the season really well
JWP would have been a good signing. Even if it just meant we didn't have to look at Bruno take free kicks.

I think they need each other...which isn't a good thing.

Between the pair of them you could make a decent midfielder...but I can't help thinking United are playing 2 players to do the job of 1.

But those 97% was done by a lot of relatively pointless passing. It isn't just on him of course and Brentfords setup really challenged this aspect but today I had some flashbacks of the old zombie passing... It was slow, it was always to the player next to each other, next to no penetration, next to no line breaks (but as I said, Brentford was well organized which definitely played a part here). If that is what creates his passing numbers, I don't see a future here.

Option to buy, no obligation.
Ah, thanks. Yes, actually that is what I meant but my choice of words was definitely poor.

Completely agree. I also think, it would have been good value for money.

Hope, We Lose
Defensive

0 tackles, 0 interceptions, 1 clearance, 0 blocked shots, 1 foul, 0 aerials won

On the ball

64 passes at just under 97% accuracy. Bruno had the most passes, he was 2nd for the team. 3 key passes so 2nd in the team after Dalot's 4. 1 attempted cross, 0 that found a teammate, 4 long balls and all 4 found a teammate, 0 dribbles, was fouled 2 times, 0 shots

Dispossessed 1 time and lost the ball 1 time after a loose first touch

Not awful, but 1 dimensional. All he did was receive and pass the ball (and running not on the stats) and he did find teammates who could receive the ball and get themselves open to shoot more often than Casemiro. Casemiro is historically better at that than Amrabat, in this match Amrabat was better at it. Amrabat averaged 0.5 per 90 mins in 2 of his seasons at Fiorentina, with a 0.8 per 90 sandwiched between them. Casemiro averaged 1.2 for us per 90 last season, and 1.6 per 90 so far this season. So we'll see who has more key passes next game

He's not a world-beater, but he can be a good, solid, safe base for us to build on.

At least he doesn't constantly lose possession, it's hard for a team to do anything when the build-up keeps getting interrupted with stupid turnovers.

He doesn't release the ball quick enough, completely missed some great counter attacking balls over the top today, on the rare occasion Brentford pushed up.

Well that was a performance matching hos Fiorentina stats..
He was near the lowest rated Fiorentina in the last 2 season going by Whoscored. Give that the value you want, but can't think it is a good thing to be rated lowly.

Ah Redcafe! Saying he is not good enough because of his passing when his passing is exactly what we need in that midfield. How many times did Case lose the ball needlessly trying to be adventurous. I didn't expect him to light the league on fire and his start is pretty expected for a Midfielder coming into the epl from a midtable seria A side with virtually zero preseason. Case has been so bad in possession to the extent that a player who was supposed to be cover and slowly build fitness and sharpness now has to come in and be the anchor in midfield which has been the story of Man Utd for a long time. We are counting on a 20yr old now to be the main danger man because our star attacking decided to be shit after a new contract. We are counting on a 35 year old CB released from a relegated side to be our starting CB and are desperate for our loan LB cover to return from injury. It begs the question "how are we here after spending so much money every season foe the past decade??"

Early days, but better having him in the middle than at left back against pacy wingers!

The whole team looks off right now, so too early to judge.

He's a good player to have on the squad. But we shouldn't forget that plenty of players struggle early in the premier league, so he could still turn out to be much better.

His aerial ability could be a bit of a problem, you ideally would prefer that the DM is a solid presence in the air to screen the CB's, but he is not good there at all.

Classic example to not look at stats. He was nowhere near “controlling the midfield”. These “stats” are the reason why a section of United fans think Bruno is world class.

Going with him and McTominay might be the best pragmatic approach if Casemiro's form doesn't pick up.

Thought he was fine, I'm OK with him. Better off the ball than on the ball, which is OK enough.

You lose a lot in ball progression there, and you would have 2 players that struggle with tracking runners. Difficult to pick a balanced midfield with Cas hard declining physically and the lack of discipline in his game.

This place won't admit that they love the Hollywood passes. He still made some line breaking passes without have to take risky passes.
