So is this sneaky ruck thing folk are talking about when NZ tackle Arg they try and get a player to be standing around where the Argentinian ball handler needs to be to throw out from the ruck?
The one I saw is what you're describing but they take a couple of steps forward so they're deliberately in the path of the Argentina player coming in to clear out the ruck.

Basically yeah, if they’ve got a line of defenders, the ones outside the tacklers will fold round onto the other side and be in the way of the opposition cleaners. It gives their jackaling player a split second longer to get in over the ball and enables them to win the turnover, or at least massively slows the ball down.

Hmmm. It is sneaky.

Could it be deemed obstruction? Once they’ve tackled, they’re out of the play so surely impeding an incoming player is obstructing them?

Absolutely. They’re offside. But it’s a split second thing. Once you’ve noticed it though it’s very obviously deliberate, it happens far too often to be coincidence

That’s why they keep having power cuts. Country spends all its money on cheating in sport.

They’re just too rubbish at everything else for it to matter much.
South Africa are like the rugby equivalent of a Jose Mourinho side.

A joyless insult to the sport. Cynical cheating their M.O.
I have total faith in your ability to bore the shit out of people for another 20 minutes.
You got your own generator or something mate? Fair play.
England fans booing this disgraceful refereeing performance, and rightly so.
England fans will not forget what the referee has done today.
Can England lodge an official complaint about the refereeing of this game? Should definitely be doing so if possible.

Very clear case of bias.
Sack Jones, get the ref sacked, and invade South Africa.
Just to get in the spirit for tomorrow…..anyone remember this fecker losing his mind 4 years ago

 Took me a minute to work out of he was an England or South African fan! The power cut comment is top notch!
He was an alright poster for years, then went completely insane in that thread and got banned

On another note, can you believe tomorrow clashes with the MMA. How cruel can it get, a decent card on early and it clashes with the WC semi-final.

Mate it clashes with MMA and the United match! Can't remember the last football match played at 8 on a Saturday and it's tomorrow and United! First UFC in ages that is at a good time for us too! Think I'll watch the rugby, watch United after online if we win and then do the UFC the next day while avoiding the results if I can. So frustrating it can't be all at different times.

Never seen that shite, we were too busy winning

But fair play, some extreme bitterness surrounded by one or 2 funny quips  Pity they got banned. I don’t remember squishy being too bad a poster on here? Also, would have been fun for tomorrows clash as well.

They're not the tackler, and they're in bad position to join the ruck because it'd be a penalty for coming in from the side. So they step forward into the path of the Argentina player who's trying to join the ruck, which either slows down Argentina ball or gives a better placed NZ jackler a chance for a steal.

fecks sake I hadn’t even realised about United! That’s unreal. Yeah I’ll be watching the rugby live. Probably do the same as you actually

There was some funny stuff but it descended to borderline racism.

You won’t see any meltdown from me….I’m expecting us to get battered

Tomorrow's game should be more of a contest but it wouldn't surprise me if we had another one sided semi. Hopefully the Springboks can step it up so they're not totally outclassed like the Argies we're tonight.

United played at 8 on Saturday a few weeks ago and it clashed with Ireland/SA. It's a ridiculous time for football.

Im actually at the point where I’m hoping England at least score a try. Think SA will put up 40 odd, so with any luck England will make it to double figures.

For a World Cup semi final, that was just awfully flat. New Zealand were streets ahead of Argentina.

Hm. Isn’t that a bit of an interesting choice for a NZ game?

Dunno, just thought they’d get a northern hemisphere ref for this.
Ben O'Keeffe refereeing a game that will determine who New Zealand play in the final hopefully won't be fodder for conspiracy theorists.

I think you'd be surprised at how many Australians would want New Zealand to win the World Cup. Who wins and who doesn't shouldn't matter to refs, you just hope they're accurate in their decisions and ref what they see.

Aye at the end of the day it’s just a sport, after all. I think at least with the “underdog” tag, you might actually be liberated and surprise a few and the rugby world, but who knows. I don’t personally see it, myself, albeit I am expecting a tough, physical and tight’ish match but the Boks to take it.

Carnage yeah. Didn’t help that the Argentinians were error prone and also continued to give penalties away. Oh well. I think it was sort of expected to be “comfortable” for NZ but winning by a 40 point margin in a semi final….yeah.

Argentina have been garbage in every game I watched them in this tournament. A pale shadow of the Argentina I remember from previous world cups. What was their form like coming into it?

The even money is SA by 12 and I think that’s probably pretty fair. 50mph wind and heavy rain mean it’ll be a forwards territory battle and SA are the best at it, but it might keep the score respectable.

thing is, with reinach and Libbok they play a much more expansive game which might not suit the conditions. Faf & Pollard would be way more suitable for this

We got 4 great quarters instead of 2 great semis. That's fine by me.

To quote Nasser Hussain when asked for his prediction for England vs South Africa in today's cricket World Cup match "We're going to win the cricket and we're going to win the rugby".

Needless to say former Proteas captain Shaun Pollock had a different view, predicting South Africa to win both games between the two countries today.

Yeah, not great from what I recall either. 2 years ago they beat NZ (home and away?) iirc, but that was when Foster was basically drowning and Schmidt (plus another?) was called in to help him (or he was going to get sacked). Since then, I think the AB’s bashed them twice. They beat Australia in last years RC but again, that was Australia. Had no business in a semi final based on current form but that being said, they have been well below expectations during this RWC. Think they’ve definitely dropped a level over the last 12-18 months. Cheika’s done well with them but yeah, they’ve not been great the past 1 year +.

I guess another one of those “a lot can change in sport over the course of a year” vibes. Probably the same for me & the Welsh. Would’ve expected much more from them this tournament but I don’t watch much 6 nations, so not sure why they’ve regressed (in my head they have, anyway!).

Had zero clue about the conditions. Thanks bud. Makes things a wee little more interesting yeah. But I still think a forward battle mixed in with dominating territory suits us quite well. We’re also fairly good under the high ball, so I expect

I can see England surprising people against SA. They have one of the best tactical kickers in the game and he is also a very good penalty kicker. Could be a game where England kick for position and defend in the SA half.

Dilemma for Irish folk on here at 8pm. Do you watch your football team or do you watch your enemy get humbled?

Lollll.

Connacht's marketing team are superb tbh. I'm subscribed to their emails and they do a fantastic job of advertising the games and building up to them.
I can’t knock Connacht really. They might have a stadium that’d make amateur sides blush but at least they’re solvent, unlike 50% of the Premiership

You watching the cricket?
We had my baby grandson staying last night so I watched the SA batting innings but went for a nap about lunchtime. Checked the score when I woke up and was less than amused

Id give away ever cricket match for the next 10 years to beat the feckers tonight though….that’s the priority order
