These clowns who say it's "only" 20m, seem to be forgetting that clubs are already allowed outrageous losses. To lose more on top is obviously something to crack down on, as otherwise where is the line? Oh it's only 1p beyond the 105m you can lose, or 10m, 50m, 100m etc?Tweet

can other premier league clubs take city to court for causing financial damage if the charges stick?
People seem to be utterly incapable of understanding this.Do you ever stop to consider that 115 charges take more time than 1 charge to review and make a judgement? And that’s only when the party involved willingly give you their documentation instead of refusing to cooperate.
He won't stay if they're relegated - neither will the likes of KDB / Haaland / Bernado etc.He will stay, he won’t have the same advantages anywhere else. Sporting integrity of the whole league at stake. Anything less than expulsion is a joke.
How that will upset promotion/relegation battle? Clubs who earned to go up, will go up. City will take relegation place from 18th team.I think this is the realistic punishment, they will strip their titles but say 'we can't kick them out of the league because it will upset the promotion/relegation battle and be unfair & we can't have a season with 19 teams' so they'll give them a paltry fine and maybe a transfer ban for a year. Then the media will make out how 'unprecedented' the punishment is and how City have paid their dues etc. Then City just laugh and continue as they have done.
He's not going to admit it's all been utterlyIllegitimate is he?Why is he so defiant? Total denial.
Thats exactly why they will double his salary to keep him. Barca are in a financial crisis, he won’t fancy those restrictions. And PSG means nothing with no CL.He won't stay if they're relegated - neither will the likes of KDB / Haaland / Bernado etc.
He'll be offered the Barca and PSG jobs, both of which i think he'd take. Either that he takes a year out and does some national team stuff.
Don't forget a few of the high profile city players have a pep clause in their contracts, if pep goes, so do they.
He’s already stayed at Manchester City much longer that he stayed at any other club, including two of the biggest clubs on the planet and one of them his hometown club and big “love”. He’s clearly been put on a retainer since he went to Bayern (once City began recruiting his old Barça directors) and the money he is on is likely equivalent to what Messi / Ronaldo are receiving currently. So no, I actually don’t think there’s any chance he’s going anywhere if they continue to pay him like that, no matter what league. He’s corrupt as feck, and he and his family/brother etc are now rich beyond their widest dreams.Zero chance Pep stays if City get booted out the league. His reputation will take a bit of a hit, but he'll find somewhere new to work for sure.
Incoherent ramblings, but admits he hasn't read the charges or the details of the case against them.Pep Guardiola: Fans want Man City to be punished like Everton but I’ll stay – even in League One

Same as he is refusing to admit that City is spending big money forWhy is he so defiant? Total denial.
As per the poster I replied to, I'm not sure the PL can just send down teams outside of the relegation places without the league below agreeing as they are a separate body. You could make a case it would be commercially good for those teams, as everyone would want to see the cheaters playing at Plymouth etc. so you'd get full stadiums but then I think most teams would vote against it as it just means there's one less promotion spot and you'll likely be getting embarrassed home and away. How that will upset promotion/relegation battle? Clubs who earned to go up, will go up. City will take relegation place from 18th team.
Only if you were talking about next season where basically City is nailed for promotion from any league where they end up.
I think they lose those titles regardless, that's not really that big a deal.Interesting. So you think if it's an either/or proposition between keeping previous titles and being demoted a few levels versus remaining in the Prem but having the previous titles voided + fine and 1-year transfer ban, the latter option would be preferable?
No, but when this all came out 9 months ago he was playing the “I’m totally in the dark” card. Was saying he’s had assurances. Now he’s assuring everyone. He's not going to admit it's all been utterlyIllegitimate is he?
Because it'd make his achievements there utterly worthless.
The FA should of had a rule if you don't co-operate with such investigations the club can be suspended from the league until they do co-operate. How can you delay a decision based on that? The charges were announced last season, they should have been suspended immediately. That would deter clubs from bending the rules.People seem to be utterly incapable of understanding this.
One charge v 115.
A totally different charge.
Admissions of guilt on that 1 charge anyway.
Easier to monitor than a lot of City's stuff.
If the Premier League chose to expell them City would then have to apply to join the EFL and if accepted (which isnt guarenteed) would have to start from League 2As per the poster I replied to, I'm not sure the PL can just send down teams outside of the relegation places without the league below agreeing as they are a separate body. He has gone from "If they lied to me i'll leave" to "i'll stay, even in league one".No, but when this all came out 9 months ago he was playing the “I’m totally in the dark” card. Was saying he’s had assurances. Now he’s assuring everyone.
Why would City leave one of their most valued employees in the dark as to the details of the proceedings? He's sworn to silence but his demeanor suggests either delusional defiance or smug confidenceHe has gone from "If they lied to me i'll leave" to "i'll stay, even in league one".
I think he knows a lot more than he lets on.
You have my voteIf the Premier League chose to expell them City would then have to apply to join the EFL and if accepted (which isnt guarenteed) would have to start from League 2
Of Barca stock so he knows more than a thing or two about blagging your way through a cut and dried scandal. Why would City leave one of their most valued employees in the dark as to the details of the proceedings? Yes, he'll stay. No, but when this all came out 9 months ago he was playing the “I’m totally in the dark” card. Was saying he’s had assurances. Now he’s assuring everyone.
Won't happen because they're owned by a country UK government don't want to upset, too much.If the Premier League chose to expell them City would then have to apply to join the EFL and if accepted (which isnt guarenteed) would have to start from League 2
They can't apply for Championship? If the Premier League chose to expell them City would then have to apply to join the EFL and if accepted (which isnt guarenteed) would have to start from League 2
No, under EFL rules they have to start in League 2They can't apply for Championship?
As far as I know. They can apply for membership to the football league. Football league can decide whether or not to accept and what level they'll play at.They can't apply for Championship?
Agreed about the government thing. Mental how an insignificant club like city are able to avoid any real scrutiny since the charges were brought. We’ve seen more talk about spurs dodgyness 15 years ago than them. Suspicious.Won't happen because they're owned by a country UK government don't want to upset, too much.
Points deduction and relegation Juventus style pretty certain I think, just a question of how long the process takes.
But it is all based on the fact if they are expelled. Bit if PL decide to punish them with point deduction (lets say 100) then they are just "legally" relegated and then they (by default) go in Championship. No, under EFL rules they have to start in League 2
Think Arsenal > Liverpool > Chelsea. Though Arsenal and Liverpool is very close. If City do get relegated who would be favourite to win the next few titles?
Because he knows the PL don't have the balls to do anything to them. Why is he so defiant? Total denial.
The punishment isnt decided by the Premier League it will be decided by the independent panel, a 100 point deduction would be silly anyway considering they are facing 115 charges. But it is all based on the fact if they are expelled. So, i think that PL will do that. Easy route for them.
So nothing will change. Last few years we were supporting City to stop Liverpool. Now we will support Arsenal. Happy times ahead.Think Arsenal > Liverpool > Chelsea. Though Arsenal and Liverpool is very close.
You can support Arsenal if you want. But that is something I will never do. Hate them.So nothing will change. Last few years we were supporting City to stop Liverpool. Now we will support Arsenal. Happy times ahead.
Less evil and shit...You can support Arsenal if you want. But that is something I will never do. Hate them.
I’d love a nullification of all player contracts signed from the year they’re found guilty of financial irregularities, relegation and disqualifying the entire board from participating in anything football related forever. The punishment isnt decided by the Premier League it will be decided by the independent panel, a 100 point deduction would be silly anyway considering they are facing 115 charges.
Always thought there was something dodgy about his seemingly self enforced "holiday" from Barcelona and football in general in the wake of that Fuentes / Operacion Puerto thing in 2010 personally. He’s already stayed at Manchester City much longer that he stayed at any other club two of the biggest clubs on the planet and one of them his hometown club and big love. Ahh. You beat me to it. He’s smelling the coffee and it smells like Lamex stadium on a snowy Tuesday night. He has gone from "If they lied to me i'll leave" to "i'll stay, even in league one".
I think he knows a lot more than he lets on.
It’s not just lack of cooperation, it’s the fact they’re rejecting the charges, which Everton accepted. If City are found in breach of even a single charge, they PL has to throw the book at them due to the way they’ve conducted themselves throughout the process. It also appears as though they’re scared of City’s law team otherwise they’d be going after them with more purpose than they currently are. It’s within their best interests to come to a conclusion ASAP.The FA should of had a rule if you don't co-operate with such investigations the club can be suspended from the league until they do co-operate. How can you delay a decision based on that? The charges were announced last season, they should have been suspended immediately. That would deter clubs from bending the rules.
He's the public face of City, leading press conferences week in week out. Anything other than extreme confidence is to be expected, most other managers would do the same. Why would City leave one of their most valued employees in the dark as to the details of the proceedings? He's sworn to silence but his demeanor suggests either delusional defiance or smug confidence
