My bad. I thought it was lower. Anyway we should take him if he says "I'm willing to join you until summer for 300K per week", but we all know that's unrealistic
Can't see him taking a 2.7 million pay cut personally?

6 month loan on with the Saudi club paying half of his wages...it'd be a shrewd move.

Would it be?

Benzema scores some goals, convincing the club to get him permanently, only to find out next season he was washed all along.

A scenario that is pretty likely.

Well, I didn't mention signing him permanently anywhere so this is entirely your scenario.

Come on, you know the club would entertain the idea, if a loan spell goes well.
With SJR, and what we've done since EtH's been around (Dubravka, Butland, Sabitzer, Wout, Reguilon) I can't see us singing any loanees on a permanent.

For the 352th time: he is earning EUR 200m net per season.

This is approximately GBP 6m per week. You want to pay him 3m a week?!

I think people don’t realize that he is on 200m(!) net(!) per year.
What in the christ ! That is bananas. I wouldn't take him for 10% of that.

I know that as fans we don't know a huge range of players, but if as a club we can't pluck a decent player from some corner of the world, who's affordable and isn't decrepit, then we might aswell shut up shop.

It's such a cliche but look how Brighton do it with the likes of Caicedo, Encisco, Mac Allister etc. There's a world of players out there who'd kill for a chance at United. We've no reason to be sniffing around retirees every window.

If he wants to go back to Europe because he is unhappy he knows he isn't going to get even a tenth part of what he earns in Saudi.

It would be pretty stupid to sign Benzema even on loan, his last season was poor, his legs seemed gone and he is 36 years old...

Think he'll end up at Chelsea, he gets to live in a relatively fun city for rich people and Chelsea get a striker who actually knows what he's doing, they'd probably be willing to pay the price as well.

TBH I dont give a shit if they pay all his salary I still don't want another money-grabbing, egocentric twat who is past his prime, in this club. It didn't work with Ronaldo and at least there was *some* emotional positive with him (even though, since he first tried to sign with fecking City, I call BS on his emotions as well), doing the same with Benzema is nuts

We need to focus on rebuild and stop chasing aged have-beens that will just shit in our dressing room culture even more

Well according to McDonnell we have no interest in a loan deal for him so end of that

He is finished and too expensive (he is like on 3-4 million euros a week). No way we bring him even on loan, someone like Toney will make way more sense.

Someone like Toney who has never played for a top club, would probably cost 100m and has not played in months, makes way more sense than bringing in a former world class player on a 6-month loan? I mean I am aware of Benzema's wages and I would only loan him if he's hard on the idea of playing in the PL and would be willing to earn a "reasonable" salary (something like 350k per week, which would be around 9m in total).

We're talking about bringing a player on short term effect to take burden away from Hojlund while being able to score goals. I am pretty sure even though he has regressed, he's still as good as Cavani was when he joined us, and certainly knows better how to score than Martial or Hojlund. He has scored 12g 5a in 20 games in this season (yea it's the saudi league) and just in the one before he scored 31 goals in 43 games, on top level.

I say the chances are 1-2%, but in theory Benzema would be a clever move if the wage conditions are right.

Leave the mercenaries in Saudi Arabia to play out their contracts and let them think about their decisions.

Please don't pay him a crazy wage. Let's start the new year with good solid transfers.

Had we beaten Spurs we'd still have an outside shot at a CL spot and in that case Benzema would have been a great short term fix, but now that we're done and dusted there's really no point in bringing him in.

Rather go get Benjamin Sesko who is the future not the past , we can do a loan to buy option. But we won’t get either so doesn’t really matter ?

As we cant sign any players permanently this winter, I dont get why so many are against a short term (loan?) move for Benz. Seems like he would be willing to have a huge pay cut too, just to get out of the Saudi league. 6 month contract with an option to extend (which we should never trigger). A mentor for Hojlund and placeholder for a real striker signing in the summer. He would definitely improve our overall play with his link up skills.

He would take the PL by storm for the rest of the season, we’d sign him permanently on a massive contract, then he’d turn to shit shortly after. Classic United move.

For 200m euros, I'd be willing to play for the Gulag Zeks for a year. And I'd make no unhappy sounds.

Benzema ain't come here just to sit on the bench meaning signing 36 years old Benzema (even only for 6 months) is just for short term solution but wouldn't benefit us for long term and might hurt us financially. This is like the Glazers or Ed's type of signing we made in the past, which signing old player for commercial, pleasing the fans in short term because we are signing big name, and doesn't think about the future.

I would rather we give Hojlund lot of minutes until end of the season so he can develop to be better player, which part of the process rather than giving those minutes to Benzema who will cost us lot of money with his wages and has no future to be part of our rebuild.

I fail to see how a loan deal for Benzema makes any sense. From a sporting perspective, he had several options but he moved to Saudi for a massive payday, where he's been for half a season. The level of the league is a bit of a disaster and bringing him to England, in January, makes it highly likely that he'll need plenty of time to adjust and get up to speed. It's an unforgiving league where he'll have very little time on the ball. We're also talking about a player that's close to retirement age and needs the team to be built around him. Bringing back Ronaldo was an overall disaster, Benzema isn't likely to be any better and the financials doesn't make sense either.
