F1 2024 Season

That's shite from Williams. Albon binned it and should have to deal with the consequences of that.

It is, but also, wouldn't have happened if we didn't have the stupid cost cap rules. There's compromises everywhere and it doesn't help F1 as a product.

The pressure is on in as much as he can't feck it up, but if he drives a good race and comes 13th then no one will be pretending sergeant could or would have done better and that it was a waste of time to swap them. He's a far better driver.

I don't rate Sergeant but I feel bad for him as he wasn't the one that made the error

Sucks this is technically a night race as it's usually one of the better ones to watch

This is hilarious, Williams are one of the teams benefititng from the cost cap.
On what planet are they benefitting? Are Williams allowed to build new infrastructure outside of the cost cap like AM and Mclaren? No.

So they have to compromise between spending money on the race car and spending money on improving the infrastructure under the cost cap. So they will remain towards the lower end of the pack for many many years.

They didnt bring a 3rd chassis because of the cost cap. The same way Mclaren chose to take a hit on straight line speed at Saudi Arabia because of the cost cap. Because teams are limited in the number of rear wings they can produce so are down to low and high downforce designs with adjustable gurneys. Its all about compromise because of the cost cap.

Because if there was no cost cap they would be blown away in the distance by the other teams who have inflitely more resources than them.

How is the cost cap helping Williams or Haas or Stake? Its not. These teams come nowhere near the cost cap limit. Nothing has changed for them. The cost cap is utter bollocks.

All its done is made teams compromise on car design and innovation.

Isn't that the point though, you were saying that Williams not having a spare car was because of the cost cap when it's nothing to do with that as they're nowhere near it anyway?

Williams and the like do benefit, as they can theoretically keep closer and if the cap was higher they'd be even further away. I'd agree it's not perfect, but unlimited budgets aren't great in any sport so there has to be something in place.

Well no point getting up early for the gp tomorrow. Leclerc down in 5th.

The merc is a crap car. 0.8 off pole is a huge gap.
