From Ming the Merciless to Skeletor
Huh? You do know that he is leaving Bayern at the end of season? As far as I'm aware he's the manager of Bayern München who are in the semi finals of the CL. They win the CL and they won't be unhappy with him. Yes they didn't win 11th in a row but they lose the title 1 season to an unbeaten team and take home a CL? They'll be happy with that.
At the moment he's unavaible like any other decent alternative.
AlonsoName that manager then? Who’s it?
That's all true. Nonetheless they already terminated his contract for the end of this season, so he's available in the summer. As far as I'm aware he's the manager of Bayern München who are in the semi finals of the CL. Still feel the same way, although I'm coming around to accepting that it's going to happen anyway. I just hope we don't offer him more than 2 years. Not for me
Linked?Thoughts now?
No I did not. Managers and clubs usually don't decide to part ways amicably 4 months ahead of time like that. Thought it was like Xavi saying he'd leave but we saw how that changed.Huh? You do know that he is leaving Bayern at the end of season?
You realise we're getting a new structure in place precisely to avoid this, right?Another managers signings that two years down the line another manager will have to accommodate. At some point we’ve got to give someone time to shape a squad. Or at least replace one manager with a similar one
Well that’ll guarantee it will work thenYou realise we're getting a new structure in place precisely to avoid this, right?
We are having completely new structure where manager is not in charge of transfers. And Tuchel is one of those managers who doesn't insist to have "his players". He is more a coach than old school manager.Another managers signings that two years down the line another manager will have to accommodate. Who is?!
I don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure he’s not the man to do it. Let’s say, hypothetically, we got Alonso. I’d feel pretty confident of us regularly competing for the big competitions under him. I can’t say the same about Tuchel. With our new director structure in place I’d hope they appoint a manager that can have us going toe to toe in the biggest matches through their footballing philosophy even if the work takes a couple of years to come to fruition in terms of results. I feel like I’ve seen what Tuchel is capable of and it’s not the standard we should be aiming for.Name that manager then? Who’s it?
He‘s won the Champions League for gods sake ….and may win it again this yearI don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure he’s not the man to do it. Let’s say, hypothetically, we got Alonso. so did Di MatteoHe‘s won the Champions League for gods sake ….and may win it again this year
Why? Because he doesn't want to live in past? Would you be happy coming on new job and everybody saying: "previous guy did that and that" or "he did it in other way around".Tweet

We should steer clear
Did Matteo also win the Bundesliga and 2x Ligue 1 ?so did Di Matteo
Farmers leagues.Did Matteo also win the Bundesliga and twice Ligue 1 ?
That is not the standard we should aim for. Provided everyone is fit, we should aim for competing for top 4, you know...He‘s won the Champions League for gods sake ….and may win it again this year
like comparing Cafu and John O’Shea because they’re both Champions league winning RB’sDid Matteo also win the Bundesliga and 2x Ligue 1 ?
Your comparing Di Matteo to Tuchel is fecking ridiculous
Also reached the UCL final with PSG. The closest they've ever got to winning it. Him playing Neymar as a 10 really brought out the best of Neymar that season.Did Matteo also win the Bundesliga and 2x Ligue 1 ?

I think the point was you can't just say "he won a champions league" and have that end the argument, you have to look at the career in context. So for example, his winning the champions league with Chelsea is definitely a fantastic achievement. I'd also say losing the cup final to Leicester that same season is bad. Being one of the many managers to win titles with Bayern and PSG isn't particularly impressive to me. Getting to the final of the CL with PSG is one on the face of it, but the path there in the knockouts was Dortmund, Atalanta (covid knockout) and RB Leipzig (covid knockout). If he wins it this season with Bayern then bravo, but in that scenario I'd feel pretty sure he miraculously gets a new contract with them.Did Matteo also win the Bundesliga and 2x Ligue 1 ?

Lets not forget that he beat City in finals as underdog. Tactically it was top performance by Tuchel. At the end, Chelsea had even more shots than City. Also reached the UCL final with PSG. If he beats Madrid he will have been in 3 ucl finals in the last 5 years. He's not a De Matteo it quite clearly isn't a one off.
His record against City/Liverpool is one of the reasons I want him here. His records against top teams is really good.Lets not forget that he beat City in finals as underdog. Tactically it was top performance by Tuchel. At the end, Chelsea had even more shots than City.
