It would be better having Maclaren as caretaker manager than Southgate coming in. But in all fairness changing a manager is similar to a sticking plaster until we replace 2/3s of the squad and organise our recruitment team.
Nope, for me anyway. Deschamps has won a WC and I wouldn't want him managing us either. If he wins the Euros would it change anyone's view?
He could, and likely would. He (Southgate) could literally do no worse (than) EtH.
May be not far off if you discount oppo fans supporting ETH88% is as close to unanimous as I can remember seeing on a Caf poll.
ThisNo, not in any circumstances
Also the fact it'd be Brailsford and Ashworth's choice and their first major acts in charge, against common sense and the view of any fan with a brain in their head. And everyone would know that without their input he wouldnt get anywhere near a job this big.A big problem with Southgate would be trying to sack him, he's a media darling and no problema could be attributed to him.
He can't just choose from a good selection of players, he'd be limited to a squad of around 30-40 for most of the season so he'd have to get a tune out of them. United would be blamed for not providing him with 100 players to choose from.
I could be at this all day. I'd never stop thinking of reasons.I’ll give him a chance if he’s coming just like I would for any other manager coming in
Just out of interest, why is he so unpopular or despised on the Caf, if that’s an appropriate word?
Sure, he could also works for Chelsea. Why don't you consider him after Poch?Probably going to get slaughtered for this but I feel he could somewhat work for a year or two to give a reset and make your training ground a happier camp and place to be like he did with England.
The problem however (like with the FA) is will your board be proactive enough to then make the switch when it gets to the point he's ran his course?
Which is why I think it’s just rumours. INEOS will be aware of the backlash and won’t want that for their first summer. I also think they want us to play attacking football which is why I think they’ll hire a more attack minded manager.I could be at this all day. I'd never stop thinking of reasons.
Last time he was in club management was 10 years ago when he took over Europa League Finalists and then got them relegated.
He's dour. He wears a waistcoat. His football is shite, pragmatic and boring. He picks Jordan Henderson to play football. He's wasted a top class England side. He looks like a horse. Anyway I'll stop there.
Let’s look at it this way… would you and your fans be happy for him to takeover Poch?Probably going to get slaughtered for this but I feel he could somewhat work for a year or two to give a reset and make your training ground a happier camp and place to be like he did with England.

This is essentially just another Ole scenario.Probably going to get slaughtered for this but I feel he could somewhat work for a year or two to give a reset and make your training ground a happier camp and place to be like he did with England.

Ten Hag’s Ajax was an exciting side, is bald like Pep, was said to be a great coach for the players and was therefore the Caf’s hipster choice. Look how that has turn out now?I could be at this all day. I'd never stop thinking of reasons.

There won't be any happy camp there is no hiding place in Club football if results aren't there and to be honest this malarkey about happy camp is overstated a bit thing is when teams are actually winning or progressing these things tend not to matter much but gets exaggerated if results aren't there .Probably going to get slaughtered for this but I feel he could somewhat work for a year or two to give a reset and make your training ground a happier camp and place to be like he did with England.

Lazy media driven narrative. It is not happening.Seems to be a lot of noise around this and he has an association with Dan Ashworth through England. Would you be happy with the appointment? Maybe the mods could add a poll to gauge opinion.
No. Absolutely not.If he wins the Euros would it change anyone's view?
I think it's been a lingering rumour ever since INEOS takeover that they are fans of Southgate. I don't think it goes anything further than that - e.g. any of the INEOS crew working with him in the past etc or anything. EDIT: There is the Ashworth link but that's tenuous and he's not starting anytime soon anyway.Where does this link come from? This can't be a real thing?
